Have you ever been to Columbus? Not being from Michigan or Columbus and only visiting once a year to watch a Blue Jackets game the same weekend I take in a game at the Big House. I actually really like the city. I'm sure like all cities it has areas that aren't all that desirable but the arena district is beautiful. Don't get me wrong, I love Ann Arbor as well and on the whole I think it would be a nicer place to live but people talk about Columbus as if it is some post apocolyptic dump but it really isn't and the OSU campus isn't bad at all.

February 6th, 2018 at 7:18 PM ^
Nope, its just called beating your Rival silly for 15 years and laughing all the way to regular Play off appearances. Rival? No, we are not that. Until something changes and we have some pivotal moment to hang our hats on the Buckeyes are our Daddy and we are their Little Brother. Plain and simple. Harbaugh was hired to correct this dynamic and thus far he has failed just as spectactularly as the other coaches. That is the truth...and the truth sucks. Im gonna go drink some more bourbon and chew on some clonapin.
February 6th, 2018 at 7:56 PM ^
We're 58-49-6 against OSU.
The Game is still The Game.
Not only is Michigan still OSU's rival, it's still the best rivalry in sports.
If you really are a Michigan fan, stop with the self-loathing. We all know that the team hasn't had success lately and want that to change. How about you actually root for the team instead of shitting on them, though?
February 7th, 2018 at 8:48 AM ^
In most things in my life I am more interested in the truth than delusion. I root for Michigan. I watch every game that is televised that I can get in NC. I hope they win every game. That is the Truth.
Now here is where Delusion takes root in many fans like yourself, The Game is not "The Game" anymore...at least not for the last 15 years and probably not until another 5 years. It is in no way shape or form the best rivalry in sports. That was about 20 years ago. No one thinks that way outside of the state of Michigan. Duke vs. UNC bball is a better rivalry. Auburn vs Alabama is a better rivalry. Heck, Arsenal vs. Tottenham is a better sports rivalry.
Until results on the field actually change, the game against OSU is just another gauranteed loss like it has been for the last almost 15 years. Don't crap on me as a Michigan fan because I choose to live in the Truth. It doesn't make me less of a fan. Actually, being a fan and actually dealing and acknowledging the truth is what makes a true fan. I love my wife faults and all and I love my Maize and Blue faults and all.
February 7th, 2018 at 6:42 PM ^
"The Game is not "The Game" anymore."
Yes it is. Just as it still was when Michigan was hammering John Cooper.
"It is in no way shape or form the best rivalry in sports. That was about 20 years ago. No one thinks that way outside of the state of Michigan."
You're entitled to your opinion. But pretty much every poll taken on the subject or piece written about it has named Michigan/OSU the best or near the best. If you'd like I can find a few of them for you, but you could do it yourself just as easily.
"Don't crap on me as a Michigan fan because I choose to live in the Truth. It doesn't make me less of a fan."
Hey, you have every right to your opinion. I crap on you because you think that your opinions are facts. They're not. They're just opinions. And it's not as if we have any shortage of doom and gloomers in this fan base. Frankly, I'm just sick of listening to you people bitch.

You do realize that most of those 59 wins happened before the grandparents of current recruits were born, right? Today's recruits only know that, in their lifetimes, OSU has crushed Michigan and don't see much of a rivalry. They see a team that has only one two big ten football championships in this century. Football history means very little to them.

Yes, I'm sure Harbaugh is placing the stamps on recruiting mailers. There's no one else employed by the football program that could do that.
February 6th, 2018 at 1:54 PM ^
"Shouldnt he be out visiting prospects"
Correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure we are in a quiet/dead period right now. WTF you want him to do? They just hosted a bunch of prospects.
He doesn't get paid millions to lick envelopes. He's got dudes that are doing that. Calm down
February 6th, 2018 at 3:25 PM ^
and offered a few kids from that school.
February 6th, 2018 at 7:28 PM ^
Blue Know it, just what is Harbaugh getting paid millions of dollars to do? I Thought it was bringing in top 10 recruiting classes year after year. I thought it would be developing a quarterback by year 4, but our QB development and recruiting is so putrid we have to rely on transfers from Iowa and Ole Miss to literally save our prospective seasons. That isnt hyperbole. He was hired to turn this program around and beat OSU and MSU on a somewhat regular basis. He was to bring in stud TE's and RB's to thrive in his power offense.
So since Harbaugh has failed (no other objective conclusion to come to) to do any of these things he was hired to do, what exactly is he getting paid 8+ Million a year to do? Seriously, if he were not some legendary figure, but a coach who was treated fairly and objectively by his superiors, he would / will be fired next year if things do not change and change drastically.
February 6th, 2018 at 2:04 PM ^
...just in Georgia visiting Reese on Thursday? Didn't he and Drevno also visit Petit-Frere in-home on Tuesday?
February 6th, 2018 at 2:05 PM ^
It's a dead period. Harbaugh is literally not allowed to do what you want him to. Your self-hate and need to constantly be unhappy and critical is getting in the way of reason. It's a bad look.
February 6th, 2018 at 2:22 PM ^
I'd prefer he start warming up for the season by yelling at the basketball refs. It's good practice and saves belein the trouble of getting ejected.
February 6th, 2018 at 7:21 PM ^
The answer is you do not beat your rival when they have better coaching, players, and recruiting year after year after effing year. We will scratch and claw to 9 wins next year. Write it down.
February 6th, 2018 at 8:04 PM ^
M could've had 10 wins with decent QB play throughout last season. Whatever issues there may be this fall, I don't anticipate QB play to be among them. Speight and O'Korn are gone (right...?) and all three we'll have next year will be better talents, I have no doubt. M should get 10 wins this season assuming the defense is at least as good as last season, which I think is a safe bet. The defense will hold as long as the offense can minimize the three-and-outs.
I anticipate a lot of close games, it's a killer schedule so there's no shame if they have to do some "scratching and clawing" to get wins.

So because one class isn’t meeting your expectations, Harbaugh and co are not good recruiters? Never mind his previous excellent recruiting classes at Michigan and the complexities that go into recruiting each year. It’s like everywhere here has amnesia.
February 6th, 2018 at 1:33 PM ^
I think the concern is that despite the previous two classes, we have also missed on several top targets each year (yes, we've gotten some too but still) and all the while, OSU is cherry picking five stars every year in what are at-worst Top 3 classes. We seem to be susceptible to these "complexities" while OSU makes a phone call and the kid is on board.
February 6th, 2018 at 1:38 PM ^
February 6th, 2018 at 5:15 PM ^
Are you kidding? Of all the kids to pick, those are two that were almost certainly bagman'd to attend to their respective schools.
February 6th, 2018 at 8:07 PM ^
Wilson for sure, but from what I heard if Wheatley had remained RB coach another year Harris is ours.
February 6th, 2018 at 1:58 PM ^
When is the last time OSU had a bad class? When is the last time OSU failed to win 10 games? The fact is OSU has been recruiting at a high level and winning at a high level more consistently than any other team in the country for the better part of 30 years. And, I have a new flash for you...they always will no matter who coaches there. We aren't going to out-recruit OSU straight up class for class, so if that's your expectation for being satisfied you can let that one go right now or resign to being frustrated.

PSU's class was 15th last year. The year before that they were 20th.
If anything THIS year (4th right now) is their outlier class.

February 7th, 2018 at 6:44 PM ^
No, you should recognize that that comparison is specious bullshit because every program is different. Or do you think that Michigan would still have been 8-5 if they'd had Saquon Barkley and Trace McSorley last year?
February 6th, 2018 at 4:28 PM ^
as I remember the 5 loss season.
February 6th, 2018 at 1:27 PM ^
Maybe he should never go home to see his family either? As far as I am concerned, he should be on campus working until the team goes undefeated and win a national championship. I can't stand it when someone wants to spend some time with their own son and dad.

February 6th, 2018 at 5:14 PM ^
Decades of watching college football and following recruiting? If Michigan doesn't put together a bounce back season of 10-wins with some wins over their rivals, there's going to be some ugliness swirling the program and opposing coaches will have ample ammo to fire on the recruiting trail. That type of environment is not a good one for holding on to high-level recruits.
February 7th, 2018 at 12:12 AM ^
The claim was if Michigan doesn't win the B1G, those 'croots will jump ship. Given the specificity, me thinks poster is projecting.
Everyone is in such a hurry to have '19 recruiting suck to confirm their '18 recruiting takes. The ugliness is swirling and it is us.
February 6th, 2018 at 4:14 PM ^
Well, there are four of them so its not like it'd be a mass exodus from the class.
