Are there any posters you used to hate that you now love? OT/Meta/Whatever
The Boards have had their fair share of hostility lately, and I thought I'd bring the love. But with a twist. Rather than just "I love so and so's posts" (invariably leading to...why didn't anyone pick me...sniff, sniff...or worse, too sugary posts), is there anybody you really couldn't stand as a poster, but you made peace, something changed, you got to like the posts more, etc.?
This is NOT an "I hate xxxx" thing. But hope for us all. Well, if you're not a troll. ;-)
My example- Purplestuff. Our first interaction was a knock down, drag out, insulting argument, grown out of the complete insanity and running around without heads in the whole MSU-Iowa-Illinois debacle, where cool heads were not prevaling. But we made cautious peace, and as I got where he was coming from, what his style is, and have a feel for his tone, I find him wildly entertaining. He consistently cracks me up; and I like his points as well. Now, we don't agree on everything, and I KNOW he doesn't agree with everything I say.
But that's my example of another guy that my only goal was to take the piss out of, and now I look forward to his posts.
Anyone else have any similiar experiences?
Must be the off season, and must be the continued invasion of the Scouties and their stupid threads.
What next? "OT: Laverne and Shirley: Prelude to a Michigan Water Polo National Championship?"
SRSLY--who gives a rat's ass about posters? All we really want is to post or start some silly thread and hope 893 people reply so we can tell our buddies at work how cool we are because so many people at MgoBlog or Scout responded to our insanity.
Go eat a fishstick.
All we really want is to post or start some silly thread and hope 893 people reply so we can tell our buddies at work how cool we are because so many people at MgoBlog or Scout responded to our insanity.so this is why you came back. good addition to the board though, really.
But I doubt it.
If I ever came out to one of those MgoBlog tailgates or whatever (and if I knew the proper pocket protector attire for the event), ya'll and I would have lots of beer and get along just fine.
I'm absolutely positive I'm cooler than everybody on this board. And a shit load funnier. And funner.
i can make that happen. you're not even trolling affectively, you're just being a douche.
em0 hands down here. He started out with such innocence, posting his annoying little depth charts in hopes of being useful. Once the meltdown came, It was entertaining as hell and I started to value his presence.
...used to neg me on sight for hating on Ypsi one time, but I think he's stopped.
We've silently buried the hatchet, I hope...
Apparently not.

I get over stuff eventually.
post more of these famous threads from the past? I haven't been around the whole time and I would love some more mgoblog history. And they're really entertaining too.
You didn't go back and read all the pages and threads on MGoBlog before your first post?!?
Man, you're going to get banned, breaking the rules like that.
Best 3 months of my life going back and reading all of Brian's posts.
Here is my personal favorite thread thus far. I did not partake, as pre-pokemon I didn't have enough points to be in the members only club.

NEGGED FOR NOT PARTICIPATING
FWIW, I was out of town that week... it is one of my few MGoLifeRegrets.
NEGGED for being hypocritical!
Negged for being a negger.
FWIW, I was the first to neg this post just because it seemed like the only reasonable response. I'll neg myself for starting that slippery slope. Plus, chunkums mentioned faketitis in a tweet the other day when talking about teaching at a school. I naturally read it as fake titties and called him a pederast. I think I owe him at least an explanation.
Negged for explaining that which needs no explanation.
Also negged for explaining that which needs no explanation.
Negged for love.

Negged for manloving. NTTAWWT.

i hear that this post is considered the greatest of all time. at least the OP had enough sense to label it OT.

I don't think it was actually OT.

He couldn't have been more wrong about last season.
That, and there was a time Magnus only had 1777 points.
...ah, who am I kidding. Still can't stand him.
I can't believe no one's brought up Mcfarlin, and what ever happened to The King of Belch? Biggest MGoPoint swing in history.
That guy could throw a bag of flaming poo at the front steps of MGoBlogHouse like nobody's business.
Every time Magnus posted something I used to skip over it because I thought he was an asshole. Then I took the time to read one of his posts. I then realized that Magnus, while an asshole, is a smart funny asshole. Magnus if you're reading this I'm jk (No I'm not but don't tell that to Magnus. He never reads inside the parenthesis)
If you think I'm an asshole on here, you should see how I act on the Official Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Fan Forum.
Craven Morehead.

Needs to start a post entitled "Times I have spent two hours of my time tracking geaux blue's posts so I can neg each of them and make him lose 700 points." because with a lil bit of mod tools that shit was hilarious obvious. And we didn't do anything out of mere pity.
Also this has happened at Least 3x

I've had someone create 7 or so names to do this. I just laugh at how much time a person would spend to do something that has no impact on my ability to do anything.
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:12 PM ^
Don't forget all the time they spent pointing up his own names, so he'd have enough points to vote with them all. (5 posts, 90 points...uhm, yeah).
April 23rd, 2010 at 10:39 PM ^
Just the biggest target. I remember watching it plummet. Someone had a hell of a weekend.
April 23rd, 2010 at 10:58 PM ^
I only noticed bc I had just passed 10k and then went to... 9300. I didn't get admitted to grad school and was divorced by my wife for a "real man" who could "provide for his family with his mgopoints" (she left me for Magnus). It was a dark point in my life
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:27 PM ^
The ladies love the points.
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:31 PM ^
you really noticed your point totals? I think here in Canada 10k in MGoPoints would equal a new curling broom for me (20k gets me a new composite nike/bauer stick) although it might be less due to the Canadian dollar reaching parity.
No, it's because he had a bigger schlong than you.
I do have a giant schlong, but it's severely diseased.

Section1 and I got into a pretty huge blowup over something involving blue hairs, noise, blah blah whatever. Now I read his stuff and respect/agree with almost all of it.
CPS and I had a nice little fight, but to be honest I have no real recollection as to what it was about. He doesn't post much anymore either it seems.
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:19 PM ^
Wow we were both thinking about CPS at the same time. Pretty cool
Where the hell is CPS?
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:18 PM ^
CPS, I miss him, he was like a mentor to me, he would even inform me when it was time to go to bed! You don't make Blog Buddies like that every day.
April 24th, 2010 at 11:41 AM ^
where I disappeared to the last 4 months went I went on an MGoLeaveOfAbscense! RABLE RABLE RABLE
I thought about you, figured you just picked up a new handle. Good news is; now your back, so I don't have to speculate about your whereabouts. How bout them Tigers?!
Read all of Brian's stuff so still. Just avoided the board the last few months as I've been busy with work and whatnot.
But yeah, Tigers look okay to me. We really need to get those starting pitchers going. Back of the pen looks solid this year. But the bottom 3 of that batting order...ugh. Hopefully, they stay in the race all season to at least give me something to get through the summer!
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:31 PM ^
I used to think Brian was a loser but now he's okay. Inaccurate but okay.
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:32 PM ^
At some point or another GoBlueRitzy and I had it out about something but his stuff is pretty much on point 24/7.
Beeks and I have clashed a few times in some hockey related stuff, but he's probably the most knowledgeable about the sport I've seen on here. I owe him props for calling Philly over NJ, made me look pretty stupid.
