Harbaugh first-year quarterbacks over the course of a season
I'm procrastinating on the actual work I need to do, so I thought I would throw some graphs at everyone. Here are the ESPN adjusted QBR ratings for first-year quarterbacks Harbaugh has coached throughout his career in college. As you will see, there is a break for everyone that usually signifies a bye week:
Going into the MSU game, it appears that Harbaugh's QBs generally see a small uptick the week after a bye, which is nice.
EDIT: Fixed the name for Rudddddddock.

Can you make these into a pie chart please?

I'm not really sure how that would illustrate trends over time.

the s&p ratings of the average defenses faced prior to the bye week and compare that to the s&p rating of the defense faced after the bye.

I agree, but that would be much more work. The adjusted QBR is supposed to account for opposing defenses, but I can't speak to how robust it is as a measure.

wasn't a first-year QB and he won't be playing.

It was absolutely Speight's first year as a starter. Also, there isn't any trend for O'Korn at this point.

Speight was a first-year starter last year.

The Esterhaus graph. I snuck in there a few downs and kept improving continually. And then I woke up.

It took him a few weeks to get timing down and all but once he did, he was awesome. And what he did to Florida was incredible. Best career move ever made was that grad transfer.

No kidding. I don't have bowls on here, but that would have been another 98.5 for Rudock. That guy was dealing when he finished at Michigan.

Speight is missing OSU (44 Adj QBR) week 13. And why no bowls?
October 3rd, 2017 at 1:14 AM ^
Huh, for some reason the isolated data points didn't show up on that particular Excel template. That explains why Speight's OSU game (and Pritchard's week 2 game) is missing. Regarding the bowls, I didn't feel like it really fit in with the rest of the season when it came to tracking performance and how it pertains to MSU. A bowl game takes place a month after the season ends at the end of a long practice period. They could be included, but I don't think they're that informative when it comes to comparison with the regular season. Regarding week 12, there isn't any data represented for Speight.

Got it. Yeah my eyes were playing tricks on me for week 12.
