Question: What are chances of Brady ever coming back to UM to work?

Submitted by crg on

With all the Brady-love threads (and rightfully so), there has been a suggestion that he come back to UM once he retires from playing to join the staff in some respect.

I admit that I don't follow much of headlines/discussion/rumors about individual players, so can the board comment about if this is even a remote possibility?  Does he have any coaching experience at any level (i.e. Harbaugh volunteer-coaching early in his career)?  Has he even expressed any interest in coaching afterwards?  Would a move to AA be too much for him, Giselle, and his family?  Is he a good fit as a position coach or perhaps some form of booster/supporter?

This whole idea is most likely a pipe dream, but if it could work why not go for it.  Hackett swung for fences when he went for Harbaugh and look how that worked out.

Talk amongst yourselves.

0.00% to 0.05%. I can see him making occasional appearances at Schembechler Hall as a guest speaker, maybe coming back and taking a joint ownership in Mr. Spots, but a full-time coach? Get real.

If I were him, all I'd want to do when I retire is bask in my millions upon millions of dollars, saddled up next to one of the most beautiful women in the world. Do all of the things I couldn't do when I had no time for it during my NFL days. College coaching is a 365 days per year job. Now of course Brady would be able to name his own terms if he ever said he'd come back and coach. But he seems like the kind of guy who is more than happy to support Michigan from a distance.

Both seem to be really into their kids, world travel, culture and enjoying their money.

Italian spring break aside, I don't see college coaching fitting that bill.

Coaching is a grind. By the time he retires, he'll want to dial back the hours. Having a shit ton of money makes that decision very easy. That being said, the only possibility I see is if he and Jim Harbaugh set up an elite QB camp in Ann Arbor for one or two weeks in the summer. I could see a TB going in on that.

With the Hoke to TN headline, I thought at first this thread was about the possibility of Brady Hoke returning ...not Tom Brady.

I would say there is no chance of Tom coaching at M and if I'm him, there is no way I'd be interested.  He can be an 'advisor' to the program ...deliver fiery pep talks and parade around in M gear all day long, but why be on staff with all the headaches.

OMG We would have all the top QB recruits in the nation fighting over a spot to be coached by Brady at Michigan.

Hopefully when he retires he gets bored and antsy and decides to come back

If he does anything, it will be broadcasting like Woodson. He'll never be a coach....I just don't see it. I could potentially see him speak or participate in some random type of clinic but even then I'd be surprised. He seems like he could hang it up and easily never look back.

What with being elected President and all.

Seriously, though. I could see him in politics. I think he could elected to anything in Massachusetts right about now.

Somewhere between nil and zero. Superstar players on the level of GOAT status rarely, if ever, come back to work for their alma maters full-time. In fact, I can't think of a single example of one who did.  Brady will retire when he feels the time is right and move on to manage his vast business and financial empire. He'll make appearances here and there (and perhaps a few donations, if we're lucky), but don't expect anything more than that.

No chance seeing the GOAT coaching at UM. Would be nice to see Giselle work with Momma Gwen in future recruiting efforts though!

Most guys who coach either A. need the money, B. miss the game or C. have nothing better to do and probably have a little bit of both A. and B. Brady is a VERY rich man who has had an absurdly long and succesful (even by other long and successful careers) NFL career. Stranger things have happend, so who knows. Maybe he'll get tired of being home and decide he wants to give it a shot lol but, I wouldn't hold my breath.
