From what some Bama people are saying, Hand has looked really good this year being a rotational guy. They expect him to have a huge year next year when he is a senior/starter.

Would still love to have him here as Michigan doesn't have DL depth to the point where 5* players can't even sniff playing time until their junior year.

For the record, guys on the edge of the internet with connections have been making quiet allusions to him coming for over a week now. He could always change his mind, but as of now I believe he is coming to Ann Arbor

...but I can't remember the name of the board/site that represents this "edge of the internet".  I remember going to it during the Harbaugh search.  The site was hard to find and it looked like you were about to fall off the edge of the internet.  However, it had some pretty reliable sources that were VERY accurate with regards to the hiring of Harbaugh.

And, I found out later that one of my inside guys (who is quite reliable) is on that site as well.

In short, I would take information on the "edge of the internet" very seriously.

It has real inside information, which I sampled regularly during the Harbaugh speculation period.  It's even better if you know enough to read between the lines, as many posters with apparently legit connections tease and speak in riddles.

The difficulty is the site is primitive and visually unappealing.  You feel like you are on a Yahoo message board in 1992.

Also, politics and pink bits are de rigour--so you have to sift through a lot of stuff you may not be interested in to find the gems.  Board 5 is a little better this way, but still has a lot of OT material.

Per the Alabama 247 board, Najee has a University of Alabama email address. Not a good sign.

I think that's a typo. Should read, Kyle Fratelli. He's a writer from Astoria, Oregon and he has been holed up in an abandoned restaurant on a rainy beach. I saw him driving in there in an old ORV with bullet holes.

I'm doubting Lorenz or Wiltfong will ever put in CB's for Harris due to the dearth of information and lack of access. NH has been one of the most reclusive recruits ever. His commitment to Bama has always been a paper tiger - only there to keep people from bothering him.

ugh

I read "CB" as "cornerbacks," which is why I was confused. Can we stop with the unnecessary acronyms on this blog?

A week ago I was all like "RB's come and go and without a good O-Line it does not mean much anyway".

Then I watched the Orange Bowl and the Rose Bowl.

I saw O-Lines get dominated by aggressive, blitzing D-Lines / Linebackers . . . FSU's by Michigan and PSUs by USC.  I saw marginal QBs - Francios and McSorely - look even worse than they already are because of it.

And yet . . . Cook and Barkley were difference makers anyway.  The both were essentially the offense for their teams, despite their teams other obvious limitations.

Cook won the game for FSU, and Barkley won it for PSU until McSorley decided to lose it.

I no longer view Harris as a luxury.  Given next year's offense depth chart, he is a priority.

Yep. The OL is important, but a difference-maker at RB...is a difference-maker. You don't need a good OL to give him a chance to make things happen. Chris Evans's 30-yard touchdown against FSU wasn't some fancy play that was run for him alone. He got to the second and third level and made something happen with it.

I have not. I ignored him for a long time because he was committed to Alabama, and now with us knowing the answer in just a few days, I figure I'll hold off until after he shows up at Michigan (or doesn't, and then I don't have to worry about it).

There are really no glaring weaknesses that I see. I don't think he's got great long speed, and he makes some cuts in high school that would be ill-advised in college. But I imagine that he'll be coached out of making some of those cuts, and the long speed (he's not a 4.3 guy) is what it is. There are plenty of successful running backs who aren't as fast as Chris Johnson, but he's also not a De'Veon Smith, who's pretty ponderous.

I remember reading here or somewhere else that FSU O-Line was "Rutgers Esque", and accordingly went into that stadium on game day feeling like Dalvin Cook would have wished he had pulled a Leonard Fournette when it was all said and done.

Let me tell you...shitty line or not, that kid found ways to make plays when it matters, whether the blocking was there or not.

Same thing with Barkley against USC until well...we all know how that ended.

I think our line has some potential. Lets just pretend that Bredeson and Onwenu have some moderate-sizeable improvements in the off season. Lets also assume we get Filiaga and he is somewhat college ready. Next years line will be serviceable, and the 2018 line could be downright scary good, assuming we get the O-Line development we so desperately need.

Now add in a guy like Najee and all of a sudden I have foam forming at the corners of my mouth. Just imagine having an elite Peters/McCaffrey under center, Nico and DPJ on the outsides, Tarik in the slot, and the home run threat of Najee in the backfield...

and it looks promising

our OL for 2018/9 looks like:

Tackle - Filiaga

Guard - Onwenu

Center - Ruiz

G or T - Bredeson

with the last G or T position filled by one of:

Stueber

Ulizio

Newsome

Runyan

Spanellis

Honigford

Hall

2018 G recruit Ekiyor

I think we'll have a nice OL

Of a great RB making a O line look is is Barry Sanders.  Emmit Smith has the record and is a great RB in his own right, but Barry was truly a difference maker.  My prime example has always been, flip Barry and Emmit and Barry has 20K rushing yards and Emmit is just another good back.....

You will find my lack of faith disturbing when comes those two individuals picks on Narris. My guess is they were having drinks together last night and talked each other into flipping the ball for whatever reasons.
