Mo Hurst To Return For Fifth Year Comment Count

Brian

A massively important piece for the 2017 Wolverines will stick around:

Hurst was a rotation piece this year who did not start but played in crunch time next to Matt Godin; in about half of Michigan's snaps he had massive production in both UFR and PFF metrics. With the entire starting line off to the NFL draft, Hurst will start and get the lion's share of playing time as a three-tech next to Bryan Mone. They'll be flanked by Rashan Gary and Chase Winovich; that line project to be about as good as this one.

Depth remains an issue, which is why Hurst's return was so mission-critical.

We saw how huge interior DL depth is this year (good) and last year (bad with Glasgow's injury). With a lot of questions on the two deep next year, this is huge to get back an established player, let alone one of Hurst's quality.

Impossible to say without the combine and draft prep. Considering he didn't really get starter reps all year, he's a bit under-the-radar nationally. Given the offseason for scouts to watch the film (especially while scouting Taco, Wormley, and Glasgow), a few teams probably would have fallen in love with him.

I'd guess he'd go on Day 2, but he's tough to project. Now that he's staying, an excellent year as the leader of UM's DL could vault him into Round 1 or at least solidify him as a no-brainer Day 2 prospect.

Change the system.

Live with its crazy contradictions.

In a world where every member of the incoming cabinet loves Ayn Rand complaining about one poor bastard playing all his angles as carefully as possible is. . .

This is great news. He was arguably our best DL this year, I was shocked he was even considering coming back.  Maybe this was Harbaugh's plan and why he didn't start him. Genius!
