OSU AD selling High Fives for $75 bux before NW this week

Submitted by azian6er on

So, local news was nice enough to drop this on my Facebook feed....

http://nbc4i.com/2016/10/27/get-closer-than-ever-to-the-buckeyes-for-a-price/

TL;DR

Prior to the NW game, fans can pay:

$50 To get a pic with Brutus
$75 For a High Five
$500 To walk with players from hotel to the toilet bowl

Gene Smith with a page out of Brandon's book here methinx.....

Pooping in coolers still is gratuitous it seems.

Bingo. It's not another poster's job to reveal information they've gleaned from someone else, particularly if that information came off-board, merely to prove their own arguments.

And justifying it by giving specific statistics on how many there have been just narrows it down further.

This is not the first time he's done this. And it won't be the last. Enough.

While I'd like to be on the field for a game, run out of the tunnel, touch the banner etc.

That's not for me. That's not for you. That's not for the fans.

That's for THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM. Harbaugh doesn't even touch the banner! It's for the players.

This doesn't surprise me since OSU has individual accomplishments or players and even coaches listed on their upper deck ring whereas Michigan Stadium proper is dedicated to Michigan Football.

We just started putting plaques of players inside the covered concourse.

They used to bring out the banner for Dance Marathon.

It should also be pointed out that the MMB used to (and maybe still does, haven't checked in a while) sell levels of sponsorship that allowed donors to go through the tunnel and do other stuff normally off-limits on game days. So the whole "this is all sacred and Michigan doesn't do that" isn't really true. At all levels of the university, donors of a certain level can almost do whatever they want.

I've actually met the man. I was wearing Maize and Blue from head to toe. He was very pleasant to chat with. Stand up guy.

I thought this was a great idea originally as I assumed it was a way to raise money for their hospital or a good cause. Nope just a bunch of greedy assholes.

If there's one thing the trend in higher education and athletics giving in recent years has shown, rich people will throw money at something they care about for the silliest of incentives. It's actually kind of amazing--put a dollar value on a laughably trivial "experience" or "perk" and people will come.

This brings me back to any fundamental task which I think all state/federal funded agency should adhere to...why is there not websites set up to show every nickel that they take in. Every nickel they take in and spend should be documented on websites. It will expose waste and fraud. This is not a political thing, but a thing that every American has a right to know. Where is the money going?

to tour the Big House / Locker room / Tunnel before a game?  I would love to do that with my kids.  Is it something you need to schedule many days in advance.

Thanks for the info guys!

.. your salary paid with tax payer dollars, and you have the balls to charge people to high five you.  Unless this is somehow missing some context, what a piece of sh*t.
