Big bowl elgibility week for ND and MSU. At least one of them loses, right?
October 10th, 2016 at 9:33 AM ^
No guarentee. Home games for both teams and Stanford has looked terrible the past two weeks.

October 10th, 2016 at 9:43 AM ^
I wouldn't bank on that. Stanford looks just as bad as ND. I'd guess that ND wins at home actually.
Also, is anyone else annoyed how much everyone is all over Washington's jock for destroying the 2 teams that have dominated the Pac-12 in recent years? Yet, no one mentions Wazzu has done the same. I'm sure Washington is good, but they crushed 2 teams who have fallen off a cliff this year.
October 10th, 2016 at 9:57 AM ^
Washington's marquee victory was a 38 point victory over Stanford in Seattle. Looked great at the time. Then Wazzu comes in and dumps the Cardinal by 36 in Palo Alto. The same Wazzu that lost to Eastern Washington.
Furthermore, UW's opponents have a record of 14-21 overall (12-17 for FBS foes). Michigan's opponents are 20-14. Only Rutgers has a losing record. The only team that UW has defeated with a winning record is Stanford.

"Washington's marquee victory was a 38 point victory over Stanford in Seattle. Looked great at the time. Then Wazzu comes in and dumps the Cardinal by 36 in Palo Alto."
A lot like how the media was fawning over how "complete" OSU was for pounding Rutgers in Columbus like they did, only for us to pound them so much worse in Piscataway.
October 10th, 2016 at 1:35 PM ^
But our pounding was better and I'll fight you if you disagree!

Wazzu beat Stanford by 26, not 36.
October 10th, 2016 at 9:57 AM ^
Plus the fact that the Rutgers team they beat handily but also allowed 300 yards to was vaporized by Michigan & OSU. That W doesn't look as good for them anymore. OSU allowed 116 and we allowed 39.
I think they're good, but they're the new hype train candidate now that Houston is gone
October 10th, 2016 at 10:24 AM ^
they had Wash at #4, ahead of Michigan, in their rankings.
October 10th, 2016 at 10:28 AM ^
So that game was a savage beatdown itself. 48-3 and under 200 total yards through 3 quarters. That they didn't step on the neck as much we did in the 4th quarter shouldn't be held against them. Also, at least Rutgers had Janarion Grant back then.
October 10th, 2016 at 12:29 PM ^
Yes, yes it should be held against them
October 10th, 2016 at 2:56 PM ^
but Chris Laviano went 24/40 for 168 yds. He went 3/12 vs OSU and 1/8 vs us. Washington beat down Rutgers but not nearly to the level we did or OSU did. Our 2nd & 3rd string were still throttling them.
When you consider how rough Oregon & Stanford are looking right now, they really haven't beaten anyone of substance but because of the lack of elite teams in the Pac-12, they sure might go undefeated anyway

Stanford has scored a grand total of 22 points in back-to-back losses to the state of Washington. They look like complete ass. At least ND had the excuse of playing in a hurricane this past Saturday; the Cardinal played in perfect California weather.
October 10th, 2016 at 10:11 AM ^
ND has the worst defense in FBS (I mean maybe not actually, but very close to it).
Stanford has an insanely talented RB.
The Cardinal will beat the Irish.

October 10th, 2016 at 9:51 AM ^
at how bad Stanford has looked the last two weeks. Both teams seems to be spiraling down. This game could be for who salvages their season and I hope that team is Stanford.
October 10th, 2016 at 10:04 AM ^
I agree, but the only reason I would expect ND to win is because they are at home.
October 10th, 2016 at 11:27 AM ^
will come out hitting. McAffrey is a strong leader and wil have the lockerroom ready to go.

OSU is going to beat Wisconsin.
Also, I am so hoping for a NU win over MSU. Make it four straight losses, Wildcats.

I like how you downvoted this thread but then commented in it multiple times. Gee, why would that be...
October 10th, 2016 at 10:21 AM ^
because I like talking about college football
October 10th, 2016 at 10:34 AM ^
the game gets against MSU, the more I would like them to win a couple of games before we play them. They do have another gear they will start to play at, and I would rather it kind of trickle out now and prepare for it then having it sprung against us. Michigan State is not good, I have fully accepted that and am over my usual paranoia, but they are going to put something together at some point and I would rather it start to take shape now than right in the middle of our game.
Also, I have personal reasons for wanting that game at 3:30 and if State keeps sucking this hard it is going to be a Noon game. Only possible salvation, perhaps already, is that I think the BIG network could option it as their "game of the week" and have it at 3:30.
With FSU v. Clemson as TBD right now, the weird 5:30 OSU v. NW start on ABC/ESPN, and Wisky v. Nebraska set for 7:00 on ESPN, the M v. MSU game has Noon written all over it, and that would mess with a pretty sweet plan that I have set up.
October 10th, 2016 at 11:33 AM ^
fighting for bowl eligibility when they play us. We then crush them and their bowl chances in a big route. Put some recruiting distance between them an us.

Badgers lack the tools to do that. Vince Biegel is still out.
Madison is not an easy place for Ohio St. to win though.
Ohio State 38
Wisconsin 20
October 10th, 2016 at 10:54 AM ^
I don't think you actually have to win a shootout with OSU. You have to stop the run and make them go to the air more than they want to. Wisconsin can stop the run. So we'll see. Think OSU wins but don't see them putting up big points.
October 10th, 2016 at 11:39 AM ^
get a turn over and score on a short field. I think the crowd noise will help to create the confusion and turn over, especially early in the game.

Seriously. NBC likely saw that game before the season and thought, "Oh nice. Two top-ten teams in prime time!"
Yeah....they both suck.
October 10th, 2016 at 10:14 AM ^
I don't think anyone saw this level of suckitude coming from both Stanford and notre dame. If not a top 10 game, at least a top 25 matchup would've been reasonable. Who knew they'd both fall so far so fast.
Not that I'm complaining, particularly about the dames in south bend.

How can anyone even watch this game (ILL v RU)? Can't imagine what it is going to be like, but hard to call it 'football'.
October 10th, 2016 at 10:29 AM ^
Cumong, man. Those are our two biggest rivals! Of course I'm interested to watch the game!
October 10th, 2016 at 10:35 AM ^
Indiana at Nebraska has some intrigue for me. It may show how "real" either team is.
October 10th, 2016 at 9:35 AM ^
Nothing would be better than ND and OSU losing their big games with another embarassing in EL for Sparty to Northwestern.
I think OSU gets it done in Madison though. Something like 28-14. If OSU scores more than 35 I will be very worried. Instead I think Wisconsin holds them close for most of the game until a late pull-away TD.
Finally, Go Big Orange! Beat Bama!
October 10th, 2016 at 9:37 AM ^
I think OSU will score over thirty points.

October 10th, 2016 at 10:19 AM ^
Wisconsin isn't really structured to stop a team like OSU, so I think the score will be very lopsided. I still don't think that will have much relevance to The Game, our defense is very, very different than Wisconsin.
October 10th, 2016 at 10:38 AM ^
I think Wisconsin CAN stop a team like OSU because they rarely get caught out of position and they make their tackles. I'm very impressed by their D and am convinced they are the second best in the B1G after us. OSU struggled to pass this week against Indiana (basically 50 yards for the game if you take out the 37 yarder).
October 10th, 2016 at 11:14 AM ^
I agree that UW's D is the next best in the conference after ours. I also think the extra LB on the field will help with the speed of OSU's running game. Should be a close affair for a while.
