Wow, this is terrible. I absolutely hate pre-season season-ending injuries on anyone. But especially a young QB on a team like this with so much promise. I'm a Lions fan, but I don't hate the Vikings and it's fun when a local team is doing well. This will bring out the sackcloth and ashes.
They called off practice for it. It's devastating to the whole team.

That sucks - as a Lions fan and also a Bucs fan living in the Tampa area, I have always liked the Vikings. For some reason I like all the Minnesota teams (even the Gophers). I guess they just don't give me any reason to hate them.
Do they dare call the 49er's?

Heard a breaking news brief before commercial on Russillo and Kennell around 2ish. Was hoping things were being blown out of proportion but it seems this is quite the bad situation. Wonder if it was a flukey step and a bone snapped (a la the Louisville player a few years back in the NCAA Tournament) or a dreaded ligament issue.

this sounds like a potential career ender.

Was he going to kick field goals this year?

I hear "hurts knee in non contact drill" and i get so sad, sad because i think of Antonio Bass and what could have been
August 30th, 2016 at 5:58 PM ^
Per ESPN's article:
He dropped back to pass during a drill, planted his foot and immediately went down. Trainers rushed to Bridgewater's side and began inflating an aircast, while the quarterback appeared to be holding his left leg.
Unless that's a typo, I'm a little confused. He's right-handed, right? Meaning that when dropping back, his plant foot would be his right foot...but he was holding his left leg?
Either way, that sucks to hear. Good kid and was shaping up for a great year.

Thanks for posting. I'm still confused as to how he suffered such a severe injury on a drop back.
August 30th, 2016 at 6:23 PM ^
it sounds grim as fuck! people saying the leg snapped in half, vikings players were vomiting at the sight of it. teddy is sedated at the hospital. this is not a normal knee injury.
August 30th, 2016 at 6:21 PM ^
They might have the leg wrong. Or his right leg might have been in such bad shape that he could not hold it and held his left leg out of reflex. Or, for some reason, he torqued his left leg strangely as he planted his right.
I saw a tweet that described his knee as... well, moving in an unnatural way after the injury. It sounds like a freak, bad accident. Still some fog of war here, though.

Its likely that he has a multiligamentous injury to the knee given the severity of the injury. I have seen reports that there were no nerve injuries which is huge, because had he knocked out his common peroneal nerve, he would have likely ended his career.
