Savage said that Hawkins still plans on playing football at Michigan this season and hopes to have his clearance at some point toward the middle of July

I wouldn't let what is said get you down. Some people on here can't fathom that people actually have connections to Michigan players and coaches. I have people who are current coaches as friends and a ton of former players to but to tell anybody on here something and get all not to be dicks is almost impossible .

I mentioned a couple weeks ago that Hawkins and Eubanks (who has since enrolled) were the only two who weren't in yet since I check the directory twice a week for incoming freshmen.

If you want to take the leap of faith and trust Rivals (I don't), they aren't very optimistic that he'll make it in terms of something they heard recently. We'll wait and see.

Possibility waiting on a SAT or ACT test score.  The last testing dates before fall were June 4 and June 11 respectively.

If you're interested, the NCAA site actually has a decent breakdown of Division I Eligibility requirements for incoming freshman athletes here - LINK

The GPA / SAT / ACT requirements, which will change as of August 1st, are here - LINK

Hopefully, this helps a few people who might wonder what the hurdles may be.

if we have a scholarship or two at the start of the season, who can we look at as guys we "passed" on? Was Murphy a case of no room, grades or just losing him to USC? I thought someone on here said we passed on him after he wanted to come. One of those open spots could be (hopefully could have BEEN) an EE so I can think of a LB/FB we passed on due to an EE spot. Any other guys you can think of that we could have had but passed on? Excluding a certain OL, btw. We've heard enough of that.

I am not sure about the status of Hawkins. Scenerio 1 is that he hasn't achieved ACT scores required for admission but has taken the test again but hasn't received the result. Scenerio 2 is that he has violated team rules and could be suspended. Scenerio 3 is it a combination of 1and 2. Can someone in the know clarify please?

I'm nearly sure it's a HS transcript, NCAA foul up type of situation.  But he could still break team rules before getting to campus.  Like, say Harbaugh was told the kid was caught smoking weed, he might take issue with it, even though it didn't happen in Ann Arbor.

NO reason to think that's the case, but it's something that could give the staff pause, just as an example.

These kids need better advice from the HS counselors who help them schedule classes.  If they know a kid might want a DI scholarship, they need to be advised to take all the core classes required.
