Help Me Pick One Away Game to Attend this Year?
The home schedule is not great this year, but Wisco and PSU might be good.
But, this year there are 3 really good road games and I was thinking of picking one, but choosing is tough. What do you think?
Oct. 29 - MSU
Pros: Top 20 opponent, close to Metro Detroit (where I live), still not too cold in Oct., halloween tailgating, best chance of victory of the 3 games.
Cons: Too many overly drunk fans, nothing much to do in EL if you are not a college student, getting around usually requires driving, bland stadium experience, high ticket prices becuase of proximity.
Nov. 12 - Iowa
Pros: Top 20 opponent, Kinnick Stadium history and experience, mostly classy Iowa fans, less vitrol and more about the game, lowest ticket price of the 3?
Cons: Furthest away, mostly boring football, remote location, would be least satisfying victory.
Nov. 26 - OSU
Pros: Top 5 opponent, great rivalry, The Game, likely for the East Division crown, C-Bus is a good city for other things to do, seeing Harbuagh at Ohio Stadium square off against Meyer, should be one of the better chances for victory in years in C-Bus, O'Korn should be clicking by then.
Cons: The worst fans and harrassment, high prices, still will be the toughest of the 3 to win, likely to get pulled over with Michigan plates on my way down.
If you could only pick one, which would it be?

I have also been myself. And know many other people who have gone.
Have you been there yourself?

OSU.
We have not won there since 2000. We are due. You will want to be a part of that epic moment when we do.
I was at the 1986 "Harbaugh Guarantee" game at OSU when we won the game and the Big Ten. One of my favorite Michigan memories of all time. I made it a point to go out to midfield and dance on the big "O" after the game.

Other two places suck, and fan bases suck even more.
You're welcome.

Definitely MSU...come on. I think the choice is obvious. We're going to beat them in October. It'd be nice to be there for that win, mate.

I have been pulled over 3 times in Ohio while driving through. I am not sure it is a legend. Of course, I would have to compare the frequency of pulling over there vs. in Michigan and also look at number of miles driven to see if it is disproportionate for certain. It seems high compared to other nearby states I have driven through more (Indiana, Illinois, New York).

Go to Iowa because we don't always get the opportunity to play them (especially when they may be decent). Additionally, you can go to Toppling Goliath!

Maybe you can incorporate some of this?

There's no question . . . go to OSU. Michigan will curb stomp Iowa and MSU. But you need to go to OSU and represent when Michigan wins at the Horseshoe. Where a maize and blue cape . . . I've heard here on MGoBlog that Maize and Blue capes in Columbus make for a memorable experience. You want to taunt every Buckeye fan you can. Be sure to decorate your car with maize and blue poms and paint and streamers and flags. This will show your allegience in a bright and cheerful way. And because it is after Thanksgiving, demand for tickets will be down. You won't have to spend more than $1,000 for a pair of tickets to the game.

I would go to Iowa just because we might not play there again for another eight years.

MSU, we need to take over their stadium and beat them there.
I want The Victors sung loudly.
Already decided I'm coming back from California for this game

Either MSU or OSU. We are likely to finally turn the tide on one of these rivalries and it would be great to see this change happen in person. Plus these two fan bases have been far too present in our stadium recently. It's time the M fanbase starts showing up in droves on their turf.

Make Iowa work. You know you'll have a chance for at MSU and at OSU in 2 years. Who knows when Michigan will go out to play Iowa again.

Went to Iowa for the Forcier/Denard game. Loved it. Nice college town, friendly locals, winnable game.

Iowa! Friend and I went to see Michigan play at Iowa couple years ago. Despite it being 2 degrees at game time, we had a great time. People were the friendliest i've been around besides going to Nebraska. Great stadium atmosphere, and good lodging somewhat close to the stadium. Don't forget to stop at the biggest truck stop in the world I-80 in Walcott, IA and get the buffet.

Has anyone ever been to an away game at Rutgers? A few of us have been talking about going this season

I will be going to the Iowa game, but I live in central illinois now so it is really close. I went to the CMU/Iowa game a few years back (CMU won), and to be honest Iowa city was amazing. Alot of great bars, and a great atmosphere in general. Kinnick is not the largest stadium but was a good place to watch a football game.

Don't be discouraged to go to East Lansing or Ohio State though. Both are gonna be damn good games and most likely a bit pricey, and in crazy college environments. Expect the harassment level to be high but thats a guarantee.
