Sione's Flow

So we have an elite athlete, who's only slight criticism is his technique, coming to work with one of the best D-line coaches in the country, to line up for a DC who was the best in country last year, and play for a coach who lives and breathes toughness and competition. In the immortal words of Zeus "Unleash the Kraken!"

as a fullback Mr Sione, ironically.  He is so damn fast I am torn because he actually could be used at tailback. Fortunatly we already have speed, power and elusiveness at tailback with the various RB's available. I havs a sneaky feeling that JH already talked to him about maybe giving FB the rare try in a blown out 4th quarter.

I have to feel for any prospective OL trying to win a job with RG across from him. It will fortunatly slow the games down for any OL who has had a solid week of practice with RG running around him.

I'm optimistic . . . but Gary is just one guy. Seriously, one guy who makes a huge difference, but just one guy. He can't carry the other 10 guys. What makes football great is that it is a team game. He is one guy, who can still get injured.

I remember the hype over Peppers two years ago. Then he went out earlyin his Freshman year with a leg injury which was never spelled out. We want Gary, and he may be a once in a generation talent. But we need depth. Right now, we have 6 guys who look good (Glasgow, Mone, Hurst, Wormley, Charlton, and Godin). Then we have Gary, 2 more who have seen little if any PT (Pallante, Marshall), and 4 more incoming Freshmen (Johnson, Johnson, Kemp, and Dwumfour). The numbers are good, but we will need another 4 - 5 DL next year as well.

Beyond the OL, I hope we see the quality at the LB position go up as well.

One absolutely dominant guy added to a defense that was already salty as hell and returns all but 1 ouror two pieces...I'm reserved like you on Gary's potential but this is the most excited I've been for a football season in 10 years. That particular season, by the way, if not for a Crable late hit on troy Smith we would have gone to the MNC to play Florida, and we all know what Michigan does to Florida.

^^^ This. ^^^

'06 - '07 Florida (just look at their NFL losses after that year) != '07 - '08 Florida

OSU got its ass kicked in the championship game. Michigan most likely would have, too. Maybe not as much, but you can bet that Lloyd would have run into a stacked line for at least 2 1/2 quarters before starting to throw. By that time Michigan would have been down by at least two touchdowns.

Come on, man...have you learned nothing from doc Brown? That one play going differently would have sent us onto an alternate path where we stop that drive and take the momentum on to win. Besides, a little irrational fandom every once in a while never hurt anybody.

Elite DL talent and athleticism like Rashan Gary is exactly what seperated the SEC from the rest of the country for the last decade+. The big 10 has not seen an athlete like him on the DL in a very, very long time. He is a game changer- and exactly what we need to make the leap from good to great. The future is bright because of a lot of good players coupled with some elite talent in Rashan and Peppers.

Step 1: Double team Gary Step 2: Triple team Gary Step 3: Wish we could double team Taco and others, but we'll have nobody left to throw to Step 4: Go back to Step 1 Step 5: Punt

I forgot where I read that he is a quite kid off the field. Once he gets on the field, he is a monster. Good lord. Every QB is going to want to get the ball out quickly. I expect our sacks to go way up and INTs to increase quite a bit.

but Harbaugh's Twitter account shows a link to an "inRecruit" website link to Rashan Gary and UM decision. Pretty good piece on the kid. The more I read about Rashan, the more I think he chose Michigan because he wanted to be somewhere that was "bigger" than he was. I give him and his mother credit for a great work ethic, which doesn't come easy with that kind of physical talent.

My God...if I was an OL-man in the B1G, I'd be praying he doesn't line up against me. DC's are going to have to spend so much time planning for him, it will take away from other facets of the game. This is how RG will affect the game more than on the field.

Carolina just had a huge play when they dropped a DL into coverage and got an INT.

Lions used to do that with Suh.

I didn't love when the Lions did it.

I wonder if we'll see Gary drop back. If it surprises / confuses Peyton Manning it might work against college qbs.

that our great Coach Harbaugh attended. I am certain that someone will have both of the answers to  this two part question. IMG had a decent sized receiver but his greatest asset and the one that makes it impossible to mistake him for anyone else is the fact he was, without doubt the fastest high school player I saw all of last year and possibly as fast as anyone playing at the collegiate level. If you recall his name, you will also know his choice of schools. If so, kindly provide.

Muchas Gracias
