Jed York comments on Harbaugh in teleconference
Here is the transcript: http://www.ninersnation.com/2016/1/4/10711260/full-transcript-of-jed-yo…
What I found interesting is that he claims to have tried very hard to keep HARBAUGH in SF. Obviously it should be taken with a grain of salt, but if true it indicates that Michigan is exactly what Harbaugh wants. GO BLUE!January 4th, 2016 at 6:49 PM ^
York does not actually say he tried to keep Harbaugh. If you read carefully, what he says is:
"I think it's well understood what effort that we made to keep him here..."
Which we all understand was zero and for which we are all thankful for Michigan's sake!

Only Jed could make Mark Davis look good in the Bay area....

I knew Davis had a unique sense of...style...but is that a Hanes t-shirt under a cream blazer?
Dude is just crushing it.

It's all brought togeher by the douchey Oakleys.

IIRC, there was some story linked to either an OP or someone's comment about Mark and how he lives his life. He drives an old minivan and from other comments in the story, I would bet that t-shirt came from a Hanes multi-pack.

I have this weird dynamic going on with Jed York.
I want to say thank you endlessly for essentially guiding him into our loving arms.
But at the same time, I want him and the 49ers to be terrible because he carelessly traded away a 1933 Double Eagle coin (look it up) for a crappy stereo system for his bachelor pad.

With the way he was killing it as an NFL coach, if the 49ers had decided he was their Belichick, I doubt he goes anywhere for a long time.

The agony of the Niner's fans and the coverage in San Francisco just underscores how very, very, very fortunate we are to have Harbaugh as our coach. Here's a column of Jay Mariotti (not my favorite, but gloriously caustic in this particular case) from today's SF Examiner.
LINK: http://www.sfexaminer.com/tomsula-firing-pointless-if-baalke-remains/
A few quotes from the column:
All the 49ers have done is identify a scapegoat, firing the coach they never should have hired to replace the coach they never should have fired.
York is said to desire “a big fish.” Other than menu servings on the Suite Level, trust me: No big fish will be at Levi’s Stadium next season. The previous big fish probably would agree. “Do not be deceived. You will reap what you sow,” Jim Harbaugh tweeted deep in the night, a fitting verse for an absolutely bizarre chapter in NFL history.
Of the numerous NFL coaching vacancies on this Black Monday, Santa Clara is the second-least attractive; only Cleveland is worse. The dysfunction that has poisoned and marginalized an iconic franchise has become a tragicomic topic in league circles. The senseless dismissal of Harbaugh, followed by the hiring and quick firing of overmatched Tomsula, has cemented York as the league’s biggest ownership buffoon. People do gossip in the football industry, and they hear the Jed stories: He’s a clueless and clumsy know-it-all, a Silicon Valley tech wannabe who refuses to contact Uncle Eddie DeBartolo or Carmen Policy for advice, a trust-fund CEO who only got a stadium built while riding the wave of his one good deed — hiring Harbaugh — which he undid by getting rid of him.
The NFL isn’t a Kumbaya club, Jed. Harbaugh may have been a tyrannical pain in the ass, but last I looked, so are Bill Belichick and Nick Saban. So were Bill Parcells and Vince Lombardi. So was Bill Walsh, in a way. Harbaugh won big, period. And since the day he left, the 49ers have lost big, period.
Harbaugh may end up in the Hall of Fame someday. Jed and Trent might, too, but it would be the 49ers’ Hall of Fame. They’d have to nominate themselves because, most assuredly, no one else will.
We are so very, very fortunate that things played out the way they did. There's a reason why successful coaches cost a fortune. They don't grow on trees.

My thoughts on 49ers and Jed York: "Thanks for Jim Harbaugh and good luck".
Never got why M fans have an axe to grind with them. It was a minor miracle that Harbaugh was even available for us to hire him, and Jed was instrumental.
If I buy an awesome house and get a great deal on it I don't spend my time in the house thinking "screw the last owner! what an asshole!".
I don't like people who post in threads "who cares?", or whatever, but this isn't a great look for M fans IMO.

Any comments that disparage our coach need to be ruthlessly mocked and belittled.
January 4th, 2016 at 7:20 PM ^
Nah, its just pathetic.
Saban is probably the most mocked coach in college football and not coincidentally the most successful.
If we have threads for all the times that disparage Harbaugh we won't have room for threads about all the great things JH is doing.
I get Harbaugh hasn't completely moved on. I'll say this, from a distance it does seem like his personallity has a couple warts. Those warts are probably what make him so great at his job, but they probably also relate to some personal failures too. Just my 2 cent pop psychology.

Fair point.
But some people just love to labor on the negative.
How many times have you seen these exact posts:
"Oakland is still in play"
"Harbaugh hates recruiting"
"Any criticism that has ever been levied at Harbaugh"
Like I said, York is a baffoon and I don't care what he says or thinks. I hope the entire tenure of Harbaugh isnt some how tied to that idiot.

"And I feel like watching what my uncle did, watching what my grandfather did, you have to learn from mistakes. You have to learn from failure. And we didn't get this one right and we need to make sure that we get the next one right and we need to make sure that we learn from this season."
I sort of expected this to go in a Naked Gun direction, where he discovered the problem in the backyard with his uncle or something. Seems like a sensible direction for an interview with Jed York.

It was a great situation for Harbaugh at the time, since the job didn't require him to move his family and the 49ers had a fairly talented roster. I also think he was more driven to become an NFL coach at that time. I remember him saying something to the effect of, "Coaching in the NFL has been my ultimate goal as a coach" at his introductory press conference.
