As the season is coming to an end I'm ready for the Jordan uniforms next year
Has anyone heard any info on when we can expect an anouncement with official drawups of the uniforms and when they will be available to buy online? I've been hesitant to buy an Adidas jersey, but now that we're switching back to Nike (Jordan), I can't wait to get one.

I want some. I'll straight up admit it. Not for every game...I know Michigan is classy and clasic but every once in awhile to bust out for a night/special game or whatever. Just one uniformz please!

Hopefully Hackett can pull some strings so we don't have to wait until August. This gear is going to be epic.

These are not mine. Found them SportsLogos.net
You can tell that these are not mine because the M on the collar and blue socks aren't something I hope we see next year.

I really hope we keep those stripes. I love the away uniforms from this season - wouldn't at all be opposed to them becoming regular alternates.

Given the way we played in the all-whites--undefeated in B1G road games--I think they should stay.
At least keep the white pants as an alternate option.

I think our respective home/road records have much more to do with the strength of our respective slates of opponents than anything uniform-related. I don't mind the white pants as an alternate, but I'd like to see us go back to the maize pants as a primary.

I know these are a mock up, but those are just the new nike style jerseys with a Jordan logo. IIRC, the Jordan Brand jerseys are supposed to be a different cut than the standard nike. Not that where the mesh is and where it isn't matters, but if the Jordan brand is supposed to stand out, and it's actually just the nike cut, that doesn't really help.
That being said, I like this design. I'd like it better though if the sleve stripes were more of a modernized take on the early 90's aways.

I like the blue socks with our home uniform. Reminds me of Braylon Edwards. Plus, I think it's kind of cool when there's no white at all on the uniform.

I like the white spaces!
December 8th, 2015 at 9:21 AM ^
Historically, there has always been white space between the stripes. Although I think I might agree with you that it would look better if the maize didn't directly border the white.

What are the odds you get some gear early and sell it to all your friendly neighborhood mgobloggers?

and I know it won't be popular, is that I think our maize needs to lighten up a bit from this year. I know the maize brigade around here is strong, but I'm convinced that it was overdone this year. Not that it looked bad, but I don't think Michigan ever really wore the maize color that we wore this year before. It's just too dark. Even during the 70-90's we wore a lighter yellow color. The deep-maize photos that everyone longingly gazed at were never real--they were oversaturated shots that didn't realistically capture the actual colors of the jerseys/helmets.
I'd like us to lighten up about 25% and move back to what we wore from 1977-2000 or so, at least until the highlighter shift started happening. There is no doubt that at some point we moved to highlighter yellow in the 2010+ range and I hated that too, so I don't want to go back there. But our colors in the 80's-90's were great, and our maize is DEFINITELY darker now. I don't hate it, but I'd like to go back.

Do you think it's the lighting or that only the left side of this picture has had the color adjusted?

Actually, that's not a bad idea - dress shoes and socks would actually add to that look, as would an appropriate Michigan-themed tie. Pretty sure that your daughter would be all too proud to say, "Yes, that is indeed my father." I am thinking out lod here as my own daughter is nine and I am nearing the time to worry about this stuff myself.

are key, I think.
December 8th, 2015 at 2:10 PM ^
Assuming those are actual game helmets and not replicas, then I'm wrong that we NEVER wore that color. However, due to the gray facemasks, those helmets would have to be pre 1975, so that would indicate that we hadn't worn that color for over 40 years and certainly never at any time during a game in my 43 years other than when I was a baby.
It doesn't change my feelings on the 2015 maize. I don't think it looked great and I think it needs to be lighter. Not significanty lighter, just a bit lighter. It's ok on TV but especially in photos when it isn't super sunny it just looks dull and uninspired.

No, they don't. This is a myth that all stems from one poorly-informed Michigan Daily article. First, Nike can't trademark a color, only their name for a color. Second, they didn't trademark the name "maize" (if you doubt this, you can easily search copyrights on the USPTO website). And third, the last thing Nike would want to do is steal a color from a school, because that would look horrible in future pitches to other schools.
The color got lighter under Adidas, but I'm guessing that was just Adidas's stupid attempt to get more Xtreme.

I'm not a uniform junkie. From my perspective, a stupid argument, much ado about nothing. I liked the classic uniforms this year, and don't care who makes them. If Nike makes an affordable, quality product, great. Let's not forget that all of them, Nike, Adidas, Champion, Majestic, are in this for publicity, and to make money. The profit motive isn't bad, but it is what drives the enterprise.

Looking forward to the Jumpman unis... though I think that they should alter the logo slightly for football uniforms. It should be Charles Woodson's MSU interception in '97. That's just as iconic and it makes more sense.
