Who do you want to play in the Citrus Bowl?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

We've heard what the projectionists think about our bowl opponent.

Who do you want to play in the Citrus Bowl?

I think it's either gonna be Florida or LSU. Michigan can beat either one of these teams, but I'd really feel better about our chances against Florida.

While I'd rather us not play Florida sin we play them in 2017, they might be our best bet to get 10 wins.
The LSU matchup is intriguing because of Miles v. Harbaugh, but after seeing what Elliot did to our defense, I'd rather us not have to go up against Leonard Fournette. Yeah they a different offense, no passing game, etc. but I'm afraid our D would have no answer for him.
I think Ole Miss would be a cool matchup provided that Rudock is healthy for the bowl game. Though Ole Miss does appear to have gotten their shit together and are now kicking ass.
Tennessee, TAMU, and Georgia are other games I'd be excited to watch.

LSU because they are one dimensional and can only run the ball... oh wait nvm...  Snarky comment aside, I really want LSU because of Les and his ties to UM.  A lot of positive attention to the program via Michigan man, UM ties, Harbaugh vs Les, etc...  Plus the MIles and Harbaugh pressers/comments could produce candidates for the Meme Hall of Fame.

It would be an interesting parallel. Michigan destroys a prominent Florida team following a disappointing home loss to OSU (see 2007 season). Only instead of ushering in a 3-9 season and a period of turmoil, this win will usher in a prolonged period of football excellence in Ann Arbor.

Here.  Don't forget that the BWW is a new sponsor, and this is definitely not the awful BWW bowl in AZ from two years ago.

Ugh I remember last fall seeing TONS of "2013 BWW Bowl Michigan v. Kansas State" shirts at Ulrich's Bookstore on campus. The design looked like something a high school art student would make. Who the fuck would ever want to buy one of those?? What an embarrassment that bowl was.

LSU would have the Harbaugh/Miles aspect to it...Michigan/Georgia would be...interesting

I'd take any of those 3 matchups but I think that Michigan would be the shit out of Florida.

Meh. Going to different places like Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Washington, Oklahoma, and Texas is better than Notre Dame IMO. I kind of like not being tied down to them especially when they're usually not very good.

Has there been a verdict on Rudock's injury? Sure looked like clavicle to me. Guess we will really get to see how good Speight is. I would prefer to play Florida.

Lsu. It's a better opponent I don't think Michigan has ever played them. It'll have some good storylines with les having Michigan ties. It'd be a nice victory and a building block for 2016. I wouldn't be upset playing Florida though.

Give me LSU in the Citrus Bowl. I would love to see our DL with some rest go against Fournette. Not as sure that I want to see our LBs tackle him, though. But what about peppers getting the same downfield shot at him that Countess did? I would be interested to see how he could do there.

Plus it's Harbaugh vs Les. Come on. How can you not want to see that? How could you not watch every presser these two were involved with??

I think the Sugar Bowl will pick Mississippi and put them up against Baylor. So we probably get Florida. That would be a good "story" involving the two legit blue-blood turnarounds under new coaches this season. But then we turn around and play them 16 games later in the '17 Jerrydome opener.

You know, I said something in another thread but now I am of two minds on this -

Head-to-head, we probably match up a bit better against Florida and could probably create situations where they score even less than they normally would.

For fun, the Miles / Harbaugh dynamic would be interesting - two coaches who played for Bo at various points going at it would make for an extra interesting game if you're a Michigan fan, if nothing else.

I could deal with either.

I'd like to play in Florida since I live there. Also, beating any SEC team will help in recruiting. Florida, Georgia, LSU. Ole Miss runs with some pace if I remember correctly. Not good for our D.

I'll take either or, Florida would be higher ranked, has a better defense and a terrible offense. Neither is very scarey or someone to take lightly.

I will take anyone the mere fact that we will have a New Years Day Bowl Game is fine with me. We are on our way back and this season was a great stepping stone.
