Who do you want to play in the Citrus Bowl?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

We've heard what the projectionists think about our bowl opponent.

Who do you want to play in the Citrus Bowl?

I think it's either gonna be Florida or LSU. Michigan can beat either one of these teams, but I'd really feel better about our chances against Florida.

I like the symmetry of that game starting and ending this hell we've been in.

That said, LSU provides an intriguing matchup as well. Georgia would be okay. None of those teams are scary - just Fournette. I'd rather face them all than Ole Miss, fast paced, spread, athletes everywhere, ready to split that bowl guarantee for their New Year's Day bonus.

I'm hoping for Florida because I think we win that game (with Rudock). Also is there any chance Glasgow comes back ?

Florida. Their offense is a mess, and while LSU's offense is nowhere near as good as OSU's, the idea of our linebackers trying to tackle Fournette is a scary thought. Fournette is just as good as Elliott, if not better.

We could beat both teams, but I think we'd have a much better shot of beating Florida.

Probably Florida just because of Fournette, though LSU doesnt have the defense OSU does. It also doesnt have a particularly strong offense beyond Fournette. I think we can beat both, assuming the team is hungry and Jake is feeling better.

But Elliott did not do it alone.  He had Barrett back there with him.  Barrett is excellent at riding that mesh-point and then keeping or giving the ball up at the last micro-second.  He had us chasing ghosts.  Best I've seen at that since Juice Williams.

Fournette is in a more conventional offense where you can key on him.  LSU has not been very productive against decent defenses this year, hence Miles near-death experience.

If we have a healthy Rudock, we can score just enough to win that game.

...Harbaugh v Miles...would be awesome...but then I remembered the Ohio State game...and I don't really want to see our linebackers take on Leonard Fournette. So Florida...to continue our bowl success against the Gators...and as a warm up for our 2017 game in Dallas.

in 2017, I'd rather play someone else.

Alabama--God no and thank God it won't happen

Georgia --ok

Florida -- see above

Ole Miss-  rather not

LSU -- ok

On the off chance the Citrus goes stupid with their selection:

TAM, Arkansas, Tennessee would all be suitable though I really don't want to play an up and coming Tennessee program on the rise.

i'd also rather we go to the Holiday Bowl but thats just me

I was spoiled in 2013 when Michigan came to town and I'd love to be spoiled again. Although I was seriously hung over at the game after stretching the New Year's party until 7ish. I promise to be better this year.

I'd also love a game against Florida so I can trash talk my entire office.

I'd prefer not to have another road game bowl. Hate these Florida bowl games that then have Florida as one of the participants. Seems like a farce for the team visiting from up north.

If we beat Florida, everyone is just going to say that Florida sucks and it was expected. If we beat LSU which I think we would, it will look better to recruits and the Harbaugh hype train would be greased up for the offseason.

Ok about fournette: he has been pretty inconsistent when you look at his actual stats. Texas A&M held him to an average of 5 yards with a max run of 23 yards on over 30 carries. Ole Miss held him to under 5 yards a carry on 25 carries with a max run of 32 yards. Im not saying he's not a good player; obviously he is. But he is limited by LSU's overall offensive deficiencies in a way that Elliott, Miller, and Barrett are not.

I prefer to play LSU in Citrus, then UF. Fournette is stoppable. Hell, ND's defense last year was only decent and they beat LSU. No reason why UM won't beat either LSU or UF.
