"Because we don't have the display area inside the stadium, we have found an area on the concourse where fans can see and honor these retired jerseys."

"Because we don't have the display area inside the stadium." Does anyone why we can't/won't print anything on the massive blank blue space above the luxury boxes?

I don't think the blank look is bad, but I think it'd be pretty cool if we printed the retired numbers, conference and national championships, maybe even the totals of All-American and All-B1G players on there.

Maybe it's just because it's spending precious budget on admittedly pointless frippery (that I think would look cool), but was just curious if there might be any technical reason.

We've had way too many All-Americans and certainly, All-Big Ten players, to put them up there. Even just putting up all the national championship years would take up a lot of space. I don't think it's needed. People know about Michigan's history. Keep the look understated.

Not having a tasteful and simplistic Ring of Honor a la Lambeau Field is a real missed opportunity to honor past Michigan greats, while adding to the intimidation factor of playing in Michigan Stadium.

Amazing. We need more stories like this for our children to speak of when they are older. I cannot wait for this Saturday and the new history we are going to make. Go Blue!

Retiring a number is fine. Do it for ever. Don't loan it out. Let the new legends retire their own numbers.  Brandon cursed DG with that premature annointing. It made for a great scene when it was done, but damn, it was crazy early relatively speaking.  Way out on an unncessary limb.

what if more than one player made a serious impact twhile wearing that number?  Who gets the likeness, and are others just relegated to a name on the plaque underneath saying "oh yeah, this other guy was ok too"?

I also just happen to think they are a bit tacky. and that Michigan can do better.

I had a burning hatred for the way michigan handled the legends jerseys.  If you wore someone else's number you never had much of a chance to establish your own legend.

Is a small patch with (21 for example) on a player with number 9 going to cause any problems with uniform rules?

Is it really necessary to slap the Adidas and B1G logos on these jerseys?  How hard can it be to produce a relatively period-authentic replica, especially for older players like Oosterbaan, Ford, Harmon, and the Wisterts? It looks kind of silly to have modern jerseys hanging up for those guys.
