Should Michigan bring back maize road pants next year?

Submitted by Maizen on

Curious where everyone sits on this.

I was apprehensive re: the road uniforms when it was first announced they would be wearing all white. After seeing them this year they are slightly better than I thought they would be, but I can't lie, I miss the maize pants on the road. Feels more like Michigan to me.

I'm cool with it and I'm all in .. but show me a 2020 version and I would consider. I liked the all blue but would trade for class & tradition .. all day long.

Like both so I guess I don't have an opinion. I grew up with the maize paints so that would be nice to see again but I really like the white pants as well. Someone above posted about have the all whites as alternatives or third jerseys.

The stripes on the pants (blue-maize-blue) on the white pants helps, but the white jerseys on maize pants look much classier.

(Wondering how stripes on maize pants would look.)

let's just go with the traditional uniforms and skip the tinkering around with them.

Michigan has the best uniform in college sports.

We don't need to mess with it.

Maybe I've spent too much time chopping wood lately, but I don't see deviating from the best home unis of all time for the biggest rivalry in sport. I don't see the Yankees or Red Sox wear alternates when they play, and that's about as close as I can think of to The Game.

An authentic throwback.

From the Michigan Daily account of the 1927 Michigan Stadium dedication game against Ohio State:

Just few moments before 3 o'clock the Michigan eleven raced onto the field amid a deafening roar of cheering. Immediately following them came Ohio's red-jerseyed eleven with almost as great an ovation.

I liked them when they were introduced, and I like them now.

Now, I will admit that one of the reasons that I liked them when they were first introduced 40 some years ago was that I disliked the two-toned maize pants, and the all-whites were a respite from that monstrosity.

I'm very happy with the uniforms this year (nothwithstanding the heresy of helmet stickers between the stripes), and I wouldn't change anything next season.

Call me crazy, but I'd like to see maize pants at home and away. And once a year all blue (but not those stupid UTL III jerseys) and one away game all white like this year

the white looks good, dont get me wrong, but the more i see them it just doesn't look like michigan, if that makes any sense. Bust out the all whites once every one or two years and that'll be great.

How about this.  I kind of like the whites; however I do miss the maize.  Why don't we wear all whites in odd years (2015)  and maize in even years (2016) and then go back and forth every other year.  Keeps both sides of the electorate happy.

The OP should offer a side-by-side comparison to help us decide.  Here's Jehu Chesson wearing each one:

Before this season I was solidly in the maize-pants camp, but I don't know anymore.  The white pants have surprisingly grown on me.  I'll defer to Harbaugh's judgment on the matter going forward.
