O LET DO IT

obligatory. Imagine Peppers, Lewis, and Full-potential-Dorsey in the same backfield.... only in my dreams....

November 4th, 2015 at 3:22 AM ^
Your dream backfield includes Dorsey and not his more well-known cousin who also happens to be a much better football player?
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:23 PM ^
Nothing to complain about.
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:29 PM ^
Bama over Baylor? MSU over TCU? Nothing to complain about?
Haha has the committee even seen MSU play football this year? Bama should NOT be in over any P5 unbeaten teams if they remain that way at the end of the year.
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:31 PM ^
There is nothing to complain about. I don't care about the others.
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:35 PM ^
The Bama ranking reeks of typical SEC overrated crap but Baylor is lucky they are ranked so high. That has been nothing short of a mediocre schedule. What exactly have they proved by blowing out Lamar? I'm not even sure they played anyone with a .500 record yet.
November 3rd, 2015 at 8:12 PM ^
Alabama got the biggest and most corrupt Alabama Exemption they have ever gotten. This is why they are going to have to have a system where all major conference champions are guaranteed a berth.
November 3rd, 2015 at 8:17 PM ^
With ESPN and the SEC humping each other did you really think Bama would be left out?
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:23 PM ^
Out there right now. Can't complain.
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:25 PM ^
Oklahoma St., Oklahoma, and Florida State should not be ahead of us. They haven't done anything that distinguishes them from Toledo.
November 3rd, 2015 at 8:34 PM ^
I think Oklahoma State will get exposed by Baylor and TCU. Oklahoma is just meh also. That's teh only way you lose to a Texas team that was just SHUT OUT BY IOWA STATE.
November 4th, 2015 at 10:14 AM ^
Our best win is Northwestern and we are coming off a game we should have lost to a mediocre Minnesota. I'm not sure what the justification would be for us being above teams with less losses. We don't have any marquee wins to justify that. Three straight shutouts is nice, have 1 loss is better.
November 4th, 2015 at 3:50 PM ^
1. Well, regardless of whether you believe there isn't justification for ranking us ahead of teams with less losses, they've already put us ahead of Temple, Toledo, and Houston (among several others not in their 25). So that's not a rule they follow.
2. BYU and Northwestern are both better wins than any of those teams have (high chance BYU will be ranked again in next edition of polls). I'd classify blowout shutout wins against ranked teams as marquee, and the media certainly treated those wins as such. Plus we essentially had the committee's #7 team defeated.
3. FSU and Oklahoma both have losses to teams with losing records. The best team any of the three have played is 5-4 Texas Tech. If their schedules thus far aren't that distinguishable in terms of competition from a typical Group of 5 schedule, why should the committee evaluate them differently from Group of 5 teams?
Of course, it doesn't really matter. All three will take a loss within the next two weeks.

Handed Stanford it's only loss.
Dropped games to #9 Iowa and #17 Michigan as well.
Can see why they might be ranked.
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:30 PM ^
This is just dumb. I've been laughing about it for awhile now.
They lost by a combined score of 78-10 to Michigan and Iowa.
Yeah, they beat Stanford. On the first weekend of the year when teams aren't what they will be once they settle in and get used to playing football against other teams.
I hope they win out, because it only makes our win more impressive but....I don't see why they should be ranked at the moment.

November 3rd, 2015 at 7:25 PM ^
Now I get to enjoy the next few days of people moaning about how their team got screwed.
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:25 PM ^
Honestly...seems the eye test played a fair amount into the first poll from the committee. With that said, I personally think TCU going into a healthy Minnesota to open the season is a really good win and one that would have vaulted them higher than 8.
Stanford at 11 was kinda surprising to me as well.
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:26 PM ^
Let's win out, win the Big Ten Championship and give the committee lots of heartburn!
November 4th, 2015 at 10:20 AM ^
Why would they have heartburn? Chances are there will be an undefeated Clemson, one of TCU or Baylor will finish with only one loss and a better resume than us, in the SEC you will get either 1 loss bama, 1 loss florida or undefeated lsu over us and then whoever wins the stanford-ND game will probably finish with 1 loss and a better resume than us. Hell an unefeated Memphis would have a better resume too. The playoffs went out the door with the second loss.

I wasn't talking about last year. But, ok. That Peach Bowl performance against an Ole Miss team that likely didn't give a shit was one for the ages. PATTERSON!!1!!

Do you watch college football?
TCU will curbstomp anyone in the nation. Patterson is a top 5 coach.
Baylor on the other hand...
November 3rd, 2015 at 8:58 PM ^
56-37 against SMU
55-52 against TTU
52-45 against KSU
None of these are curbstompings. Their defense is porous.
November 3rd, 2015 at 9:40 PM ^
They've suffered many injuries on that side of the ball. Were missing like 9 starters from last year at some point, but are beginning to get healthier. They may also have the best QB in college fooball right now.
November 4th, 2015 at 1:18 AM ^
TCU every year prior to this year has had great defenses. This year is an exception due to abnormal amounts of injury.
They only have 1 starter from the Peach Bowl on defense...
The fact that they are still undefeated is a testament to Patterson's coaching. Even Harbaugh wouldn't be able to do that.
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:58 PM ^
OSU's schedule is basically the same. I could make an argument that Minnesota is a tougher game than Virginia Tech.
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:31 PM ^
Truth be told...Bama has some solid road wins this season. Arguably best collection of road wins and by 21+ in the country.
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:31 PM ^
The Big 12 has 4 teams in the top 15, and all of them are scheduled to play each other in the next 6 weeks. The bigger problem will be if there are multiple one-loss teams like last year because they have no conference championship game.

SEC: LSU- 2 Bama- 4 Florida- 10 Ole Miss-18 Texas A&M-19 Miss ST- 20
B1G: OSU- 3 MSU- 7 iowa-9 Michigan- 17 Northwestern- 21
Not sure why you are so outraged. Also, Memphis is a pretty good team this year if you actually watch them play and deserve to be where they are.
November 3rd, 2015 at 8:34 PM ^
Outraged? It was just a casual observation. I watched Memphis and Ole Miss. play. Decent teams, but not sure if Memphis is better than Oklahoma or Michigan or even Ole Miss.
November 3rd, 2015 at 9:01 PM ^
But Memphis beat Ole Miss by two touchdowns. What is your argument for Ole Miss still possibly being better?
November 3rd, 2015 at 9:13 PM ^
Ole Miss beat Alabama. So, Ole Miss is better than Alabama? S*** happens. Memphis hasn't beaten anyone else other than Ole Miss. They have a chance to play two other decent teams, but no other major challenges for them. Ole Miss. has a chance to prove that they are a better team. Let us see what they do. They beat A&M, but I am not sure if A&M was better. Memphis probably won't get their chance. I give them a quality win because they beat Ole Miss, I don't see them as a top 15 team. If Ole Miss goes on to win some big games, then I will agree.
I am sure this will be sorted out in a few weeks.
November 4th, 2015 at 2:07 AM ^
Memphis has to play both Temple and Houston, so they will have a chance to prove that they are for real.

As the OP touhed upon, considering that we were probably watching this show around this time last year and having nothing at all other than morbid curiosity to carry us, this time we're ranked (and where we should be right now, I would say) and the highest-ranked two-loss team at that. I'll take it.
November 3rd, 2015 at 7:30 PM ^
I bet MSU is going to talk about how they're being disrespected at #7.
