Thoughts on the submarine?
So I am wondering what everyone around here thinks about the submarine. No countdown to kickoff. Almost no news and updates - and very little corroboration with what little we do get.
Is the B1G ten going there like they are every other school? Or are they too not allowed in the submaring?
I, for one, think it has added a layer of mysteriousness to the season. I kind of like not knowing. It might be building suspense for the season more than having numerous public updates.
Thoughts?

I'll defer to the several actual rocket scientists if they want to weigh in, but from my understanding the team would be in big trouble if they practiced in space.

The gravity of such a situation would be oppressive come game day.

Yeah, as it would really bring them down.

Ain't nothing wrong with Michigan folks in Space! Hail to the 3 U of M alums on Apollo 15! No doubt THE ohio can't say that.

can't get Ohio out of your heads can you? Welp, I guess you've got us there.
Oh wait, no you don't.
Have you ever heard of Neil Armstrong or John Glenn?
Oh, and 22 other astronauts that hail from the great state of Ohio-more than any other state in the country.
...this is getting too easy.

Unless they practiced in the spaceship that Goku rode in Dragon Ball Z. They could practice in 10-100x gravity as part of training. Then they go super-saiyan on the buckeyes. Ok...nerd out

I''m fairly certain it's been mentioned a number of times on this board alone, but you have to find guys who can play in space.

Wherever they practice, it's great to see Harbaugh making sure as little info as possible gets out. Utah is going to be a tough game; the less information the media can spread about this team, the better it is for Michigan's chances.
As it is now, Utah has Stanford and SF game tapes to study. They have no idea who will be starting at many positions. If four weeks of "submarine" can produce a victory over Utah, it will have been more than worth not having had our hunger for reading material sated.

however slight, so you can expect Harbaugh to take it.

Great point. A lot of us intense fans don't even know entirely what the team will look like come game 1. By the end of the season, teams will have plenty of tape to go on, and we won't be able to catch teams off guard as much, but for right now it could definitely be an advantage.

2014 practice hype overdose victim here. Pretty sure i predicted on of our greatest defenses, ever (weeps softly), after catching what i perceived to be a gleam in 'ol Mattison's eye during one of those countdown vids!

I hate it. I understand it, but I hate it. I am feinding for Michigan Football bad. In the past the countdown to kickoff and reports out of practice gave me just enough of a taste to keep me excited instead of anxious and impatient. In conclusion, I think it is probably good for the team, but terrible for me.

Plus, seeing all of the other updates and news on teams across college football has me jonesing even more for info.
Its like everyday is Halloween, the neighborhood kids are getting fat on candy, and your mom keeps telling you its October 29th.

since December 30th, 2014. I don't need updates or news; I'm just patiently waiting for September 3rd, 2015.

I would rather Harbaugh use the press conference time coaching, instead of getting up in front of a microphone and doing his best Brady Hoke impression of "well" and "we practiced well today" etc.... along with the other meaningless drivel at those things.
August 17th, 2015 at 2:35 PM ^
August 17th, 2015 at 1:49 PM ^
I would like both. Although at this point I'd take a daily instagram practice recap in the form of Harbaugh giving a thumbs up, or a thumbs down.
