Thoughts on the submarine?

Submitted by sheepman on

So I am wondering what everyone around here thinks about the submarine. No countdown to kickoff. Almost no news and updates - and very little corroboration with what little we do get.

Is the B1G ten going there like they are every other school? Or are they too not allowed in the submaring?

I, for one, think it has added a layer of mysteriousness to the season. I kind of like not knowing. It might be building suspense for the season more than having numerous public updates.

Thoughts?

can't get Ohio out of your heads can you? Welp, I guess you've got us there.

Oh wait, no you don't.

Have you ever heard of Neil Armstrong or John Glenn?

Oh, and 22 other astronauts that hail from the great state of Ohio-more than any other state in the country.

...this is getting too easy.

Wherever they practice, it's great to see Harbaugh making sure as little info as possible gets out.  Utah is going to be a tough game; the less information the media can spread about this team, the better it is for Michigan's chances.

As it is now, Utah has Stanford and SF game tapes to study.  They have no idea who will be starting at many positions.  If four weeks of "submarine" can produce a victory over Utah, it will have been more than worth not having had our hunger for reading material sated.

Great point. A lot of us intense fans don't even know entirely what the team will look like come game 1. By the end of the season, teams will have plenty of tape to go on, and we won't be able to catch teams off guard as much, but for right now it could definitely be an advantage.

I love it. I've gotten my hopes up too high in the past with all the hype that fall camp coverage during those years. I think it sets the example that praise is earned, not gifted. Isolate them, work them hard, build toughness, and profit.

2014 practice hype overdose victim here.  Pretty sure i predicted on of our greatest defenses, ever (weeps softly), after catching what i perceived to be a gleam in 'ol Mattison's eye during one of those countdown vids!

I hate it. I understand it, but I hate it. I am feinding for Michigan Football bad. In the past the countdown to kickoff and reports out of practice gave me just enough of a taste to keep me excited instead of anxious and impatient. In conclusion, I think it is probably good for the team, but terrible for me.

What do you want? Daily updates from Harbaugh on the progress? I'd rather have them hunker down, get to work and we'll find out what we need to know if a couple weeks

from Hoke and Co., but barely any of it meant a darn. He's had a good fall He's been working hard He's still got a ways to go He's making progress He has a better idea what we expect of him Blah, blah, blah. Frankly, I don't miss it.

Where is this submarine? Any ideas? Seriously, it is hard to get to get excited, based on the past few years. I do believe we are headed in the right direction.
