geniunely thought drake johnson was our best RB at the end of the year
I would go as far as saying it was obvious.
Captain Obvious... is that you?
This is encouraging. Hope he—and Hackett—are serious about putting an end to this ridiculous kind of marketing.
Put a competent team on the field and beat MSU and OSU, and you won't need idiot bumblebee stripes to goose apparel sales.
This is exactly right. With our huge fanbase, our national draw and our tradition, all it takes is putting a great football team on the field for us to sell a ton of apparrel.
Agree completely... and get off of my lawn!
when he tore his ACL again. Seemed like the most physical RB you guys had last year.
EDIT: oops, was thinking of Drake johnson
Your user name is disgusting.

Sit him the whole year if necessary to get him healthy for OSU. I still say we would have won that game if he didn't go down.
The tone of your running game did change after he went out.
if by changed you mean completely fell apart.
No offense to Drake Johnson, just playing devils advocate, but what explains his surprising success running the ball in the last 5 games of last season? Is he that much better than Green and Smith - two much higher rated recuits? It's clear he hit the hole much faster and more decisively and ran quite effectively. Not to take anything away from him, but is it possible that the line was blocking much better and the coaches were calling better plays as well? He was the definition of an under the radar recruit. His only other offers were EMU and Army.
Do you have your own eyes attached to your own head & fully functioning optic nerves and proper translation from your eyes to your brain? Have you actually watched all the rb's in question run? There is blocking and there are holes or not, and when you watch a guy run you can take that into account, and you should still be able to judge a running back by seeing what he does and doesn't do with what he's given & by what he should have done or could have done on the plays you watch, and by what his skills are.
Drake has far better natural instincts and reactions and far better vision & decision making, and far more speed, quickness and better moves than anyone else who played last year. He breaks tackles the other guys don't & runs harder, slipperier, harder to tackle. He comes much closer to maximizing his possibilities on each play as opposed to Green & Smith who miss holes, or too slow getting to them or through them, not making cuts or moves they could have, not going around, or through or over defenders, going down to easily, not being Drake Johnson. Isaac and Higdon I haven't seen.
I can't believe you can't believe your own eyes over recruiting rankings! Yes the odds are better for higher ranked players to make it but they don't all live up to the hype & hundreds of 2 & 3 stars play beyond their rankings. Once it's actually happened or happening you should be able to recognize it when you see it for yourself. Drake had crazy numbers in high school with sprinter speed, but I guess the league wasn't strong and I don't think he did the camp circuit so that's probably why he was a 3 star.
Is there a chance that the "Big" announcement on the 3rd is helmet stickers?!
It's for the 150 Years of Michigan athletics program.
It's why that announcement has pictures from more than just football.
They look awful and they clutter the best helmet in all of sports.
Just make a big ass board in the locker room and put the stickers on the board.
OR if they have to go on helmets...put then on practice helmets.
Game helmets should be clean - just maize, blue, and winged. It's the only way.
I'd up vote you both, if I could.
I have to agree, helmet looks better without the stickers.
No more legends jerseys - good
I know this won't happen, but I I'm hoping he will just say "fuck it" when it comes to helmet stickers and not use them. I realize many people here want them, but don't see the need to cover the most beautiful helmet in all sports.
Will Desmond wear??? Let's start the speculation....
Harbaugh actually played on teams that didn't have stickers in 83-84.

I believe that would be Lloyd Carr.
It appears that all is in order...now please just give us some football

All good. The legends jerseys were awful--let the kids create their own legacies. Sell more jerseys by winning lots of football games, rather than putting kids in the position of having to answer for a lack of team success, because you stuck them in unretired jerseys complete with a bullseye 'hit me' patches, but surrounded them with poor coaches and weak support.
Having Drake Harris and Brian Cole at wr, to go along with Ty Issac and Drake Johnson at rb, are new (and re-) additions that set the mind at ease a bit regarding the lack of explosiveness on offense.
And, hell yeah, bring back those helmet stickers!
I disagree with your assessment. I thought the Legends jerseys were a unique and imaginative way to honor some of Michigan's greatest football players. Certainly much more original than painting a name on the press box or erecting a statue at the corner of the stadium. It's interesting to note that Harbaugh hasn't discussed the rationale for removing the patches honoring President Gerald Ford, Tom Harmon, Desmond Howard, the Wistert Brothers, Ron Kramer and Bennie Oosterbaan. I'd be curious to know why this is being done.
I'm also curious to find out if these numbers are being put on the unofficial retired list again. Because if they're not, then what's the point of removing the patches? We'll all still know that #48, #98, #21, #11, #87 and #47 were "Legends numbes", even if you remove the patches (and the lockers and the display in Schembechler Hall).
I don't understand this rationale about kids not being able to create their own legacies using these "Legends numbers". The #1 jersey has been used by a number of well known wide receivers at Michigan--Anthony Carter, Derrick Alexander, David Terrell and Braylon Edwards all come to mind. Yet all of them have unique legacies, even though they shared the same jersey number and position. If Jake Butt swaped out his number #88 for #87 and became an All American tight end, how does that effect his legacy because he had Ron Kramer's old number?
Yeah, but Braylon Edwards wasn't wearing a patch that said "Anthony Carter" on it. Just because something is unique and imaginative doesn't mean it's good. Michigan's football program is what? 138 years old? Given that tradition, practically every 1 and 2 digit number will have some attached legacy of a great player or a great play. My problem is with the patch and the ceremony rather than the numbers. If a kid is assigned 21 and makes a great play or achieves all-America honors, we as fans can make the connection to Desmond Howard without the presence of a patch DEMANDING THAT WE DO SO. This is what I mean by allowing kids to create their own legacies rather than being assigned one by a marketing pro A.D. You also avoid setting kids up for failure. How can you expect a coach to bench a kid that you honored with a legends patch before he actually had the chance to reach that level of greatness? What happens when a kid fails to do so? Now he hasn't just let himself or his team down--he has dishonored this false legacy. And I have no problem with simply re-retiring the un-retired legends numbers and honoring the greats another way--like the classsic method of listing them on our now completely blank skyboxes. Because sometimes the traditional way of doing something is really the best way.
All good news from Harbaugh! Love me some Helmet Stickers. Its tradition and what i grew up with.
In the final regular season game...under the late November gray skies...there is nothing like two linemen faceing off in the trenches...one with paint scared Wolverine stickers behind the famed Wing...and the other with those puny little bucknuts on that silver penislike dome.
Helmet stickers would be nice. Not so nice if you don't have any.
We don't need helmet stickers. You don't put bumper stickers on a Ferrari.
Sorry old farts.
Yes we do.
You may not be old enough to have a memory of the helmet stickers but they were a source of pride with the players. It was a really awesome tradition.
Koalas have a lifespan of what, 12 years or something?
1) I prefer old fucker.
2) I'm one of the weird old people that prefers a no sticker helmet.
3) Alternate unifroms, however, make angels weep.
