If it went unregulated who knows what material could pop up, which would expose the site to any number of legal issues.
We have mods that have been around for a long time and generally do a very good job up keeping this place under control.
It looks like my thread survived? You have to admit my thread was the least horrible of the OT threads.
Your trains would be ripped apart by the pressure of Earth's atmosphere. Ultimately at speeds approaching the speed of light it's too difficult to keep any arrangement of molecules from running into each other and igniting fusion. That's why faster than light and near light speed postulating keeps coming back to warp: fold a bit of space so you're floating in a total 0 Kelvin vacuum while accelerating and creating a very angry ripple all around you (that doesn't accidentally destroy a star system it passes through).
The train theory is close to what they do at CERN except it's magnetic fields instead of trains. There are two "tracks" they accelerate and then they'll merge the tracks along the circle right where their recording equipment.
Russell Athletic an option?
as well as
A Collection of Adidas Offenses
Neither of these was going very well for the OP in each case, although the Russell Athletic one was rife with good old-fashioned MGoSnark, and rightly so.
OT: 2016 Camaro
Nike vs Adidas
Too OT, especially for someone with a history of too OT.
It's almost 100% hereditary
Back in the 80's when Pepsi was conducting the "Pepsi Challenge" to see what flavor people preferred a study was done on cola preferences and how and when they were made. According to this study (which I cant find a link to right now) a person's preference for either Coke or Pepsi was almost exclusively made by the brand their parents drank and people almost never switched. They argued that advertising for either brand was largely a waste of money as customers almost never, ever switched brands regardless of price or percieved taste differences.
The study said people were far more likely to switch religions or political party affiliation from that of their parents than their cola choice!
I've had this factoid locked in my brain for years with no real opportunity to share it and then, when my big opportunity appears, YOU CAVE THE THREAD!
Feel free to make a thread if you find the study and we can go ahead and talk about it. Mainly trying to get rid of the threads that aren't going to get a good discussion going and don't have much to do with M.
I realize there are a few left on the board, but right now it's a quantity thing.
No need - I'm just as sick of the OT threads as everybody else right now so good that you took it down. I was just sad cause it was the first one where I actually had something of value to contribute.
And here I thought you were going to offer some scientific data showing that OT posting has a genetic basis. In that case, I would've proposed that "DISCUSS Boy" be preemptively barred from creating an account on this site.
And preemptively ban all his present and future offspring.
hissssss
Should be a fine discussion in the other Bob Seger thread*
*I'll bet there's not another mod that's used that sentence on this site.
Swing and a miss (with a bunch of political terms used in the process). See: front page.
Between SouthBendWolverine and Seth we do get front page content, and to go back to the "about" section of the site:
So what is this place? It's a somewhat comprehensive Michigan sports blog that promises to cover football, hockey, basketball, baseball, and all other Michigan sports in various levels of detail. These levels are:
- football: exhaustive, extreme, and debilitating
- hockey: considerable
- basketball: considerable
- baseball: minimal, edging towards moderate when they're good
- all others: mentions whenever they threaten to win a national title
How You Like Me Now?
I think the board gave a sufficient answer to this question at 39 downvotes and increasing.
The board has a mercy rule?
A plea for all of my mgobrothers re: nike Adidas and apparel
Now, now....I am just disappointed no one agreed with me that we should go with Johnston & Murphy for the shoes.
*said by someone wearing retro Onitsuka shoes at his desk*
In fairness LSA, you may want to delete my breathtaking analysis a couple threads down.
I wish there was a moratorium on the clothes related threads until something happens, but maybe that's just me.
Valenti goes off on Peppers
Mike Valenti: Generally Bad At Things.
That's why is among those to be left unmentioned here.
I'm not normally one to care about things like this, but the word "retarded" really bothers me when it's dropped around here.

We can, and should expect better. Not calling for Bolivia or anything unless there's a history here, but it's something that should probably be removed.
I had a "micro-agression" post deleted yesterday, just wondering why? Too political? Offensive to a mod? No hard feelings, love the site and the work.
It was probably in the string of much saltier (and over the top, from one person) trolling that eventually was deleted to discourage one person from trolling further. Needless to say, that person made a further bad decision and is spending time thinking about it in Bolivia now. Sometimes, other posts are sadly collateral damage in efforts to excise the larger problem.
That was...dare I say...out of order!
HAHAHAahlalalalalaollololololol.
What was out of order about it? It's frowned upon to ask people to restrict comments to a constructive nature, but perfectly acceptable to post inflammatory comments that in no way add to the value of a thread, little alone the site? If that is the new normal here, Ithat is a sorry development.
I was being punny. As for the post it was just meandering meta--the policies of the message board already say all that. The mods are doing their best to try to clean up things but to a degree the internet's gonna internet and we just have to live with that fact.
and obnoxious as ever.
We'll leave the gossip column stuff for the gossip columnists.
Wait, that thread wasn't about where to buy Sauce Castillo?
With the market the NY Post was referring to, I certainly hope not.
Seems legit.
Someone has been trying to hack my account.
The little message saying that the email might not have been sent by Brian's email is strange though.
Strange.
Some RCMB people figured out they can do this a few years ago. It still happens but it goes straight to trash.
Welcome to being important enough that the lowest class of the lowest internet fanbase wants to annoy you.
It may not be a popular stand to take around here, but I'm going to take it.
This has come up multiple times in the last week--and Magnus' breathless defense in the Minick thread of why he should be able to use a certain word in a certain context just seals the fact that it needs to be addressed.
"Retard" and "retarded" are not acceptable words to use in response to people who you think are acting foolishly or stupidly. We've had multiple people with close family members with developmental disabilities try to explain why these words are so offensive, and it just devolves into Dictionary.com quotes and "I can say what I want because free speech."
As someone who has worked with the disabled, and who deals regularly with undergraduate students who suffer from various learning and emotional disabilities, this blog should be better than that. This is no different than using slang terms for ethnic, racial, religious, gender, or sexual difference. Friday night or not, the fact that it's six hours later and Magnus' irreverent, offensive display is still up is honestly kind of surprising.
"The disabled," eh? Now now, Bando Calrissian. Some people find that terminology offensive.

OT: M Baseball Road Jersey c. late 80s/early 90s
The jersey has been sold, so the thread is no longer needed.
So it would be awesome if you guys actually attempted to do something about the OSU trolls on this site, starting with BuckeyeJonRoss. There are about 5 of them in the Fisch thread alone.
Buckeyejonross is actually a pretty great poster who's been around for a long time and is just about the exact opposite of "Buckeye troll."
OT: College Campuses and Climate of Political Correctness
This one is a bit beyond the proposed scope of the blog.
OT: Religious and political debate boards
It's a good question actually, and if the OP wants to rattle my cage a bit for taking this down, I'll take my licks - I am just trying to avoid potential problems here as well. This might not be the best forum for what is otherwise a good question.
Cage? I don't like my cage and so I would never rattle yours. I don't think the OP should either.
No hard feelings. I was about to make a post about pegasus dressage in that thread, so it's really the world's loss. No context required.
An anonymous comment in a thread isn't a source. There's already a rumor thread.
Seems like the crowd spoke on that one.
Correct.
He didn't ommit. Pretty early in the game to accuse someone of taking cash based on a crystal ball prediction that may be a total guess or he could have numerous other reasons for liking Tennessee.. Link
If someone wants to make an OP that doesn't include sharing their political leaning and injecting politics into football PSI, have at it.
"Teddy Blanks" is NOT a credible source. At best, he's stealing info from premium sites without attribution, and in this case I'm pretty sure he didn't even manage to interpret the information correctly.
If a Twitter account is giving out so much "insider" info that it seems too good to be true...
So...no
?
Sad Sunday time :(
