I would say Softball and Women's Gymnastics, personally.
Quidditch and that weird video game team that was on the board last week.
Now, I love the Harry Potter movies, but it truly amazes me that this actually happens.
Men's swimming and gymnastics? Or maybe softball idk
I'd say swimming. But then again, I'm a swimmer...
Lax and Softball

with the caveat that Men's Swimming might have a say in the matter. But neither replace softball, imo.
Wrestling
and gymnastics if I had to guess. Men's or women's gymnatics.
Softball and then there's a dropoff. I'd say Volleyball as well since they have their own student section and draw pretty good usually.
Over the last 31 years, the softball program and Hutch have had more wins and the highest winning percentage of any sports program at U-M. Hutch is a living legend and is already the winningest U-M coach of all time, in all sports. She has almost 600 more wins (1406) than the next most winningest coach, Red Berenson (810).
Well back in MY day the #4 & #5 sports would've been joint rolling & keg tapping. Not sure what they are now.
Is there a Starcraft team?
and I bet our IM broomball teams are some of the best in the country, so... broomball?
How did you get to this answer before me?!?
I would say softball and baseball. It fills out the three athletic seasons nicely. There's so many great sports that it's hard to come up with only a top 5.
and having sex. Being outraged about various social causes is a distant 6th.
I'd say 4 is softball and 5 is volleyball.
At this point I'm not sure I can argue against that.
Not in a million years.
Yeah, softball is good and hockey is bad at the moment, but how big is the student section for softball games? Do they get 6,000 people attending a game?
Softball is #4 at best
Not even close. On which grounds is softball ahead of hockey? Not attendance, not popularity, not revenue. Just because hockey has had 3 rough years (after a National Championship game appearance) doesn't mean softball has jumped them in any way.
I think that by revenue they are in fact baseball and softball, and perhaps that corresponds to relative popularity as well. I could be incorrect there - the last complete income statement I saw was from 2013, but I seem to remember that being the case. So many of our varsity sports are doing well, however, so it is difficult to pick just two in a lot of ways.
Laser tag and hide and go seek.
Too soon?

and if that's the case, probably lax and baseball. People only follow softball because they're awesome in this era. As soon as the results taper off, the true number of softball fans will be revealed to be a few dozen
There were about 6 people at the Baseball game yesterday and they are outdrawn every year by Softball. Lacrosse has yet to draw a crowd over 1,000 at The Big House this year.
Also, Softball isn't going anywhere. Period. By this era, you mean since Hutch became coach in the 80s?
Bo said she's the "best damn coach on this campus". He was right.
Always seems to be a hit. It took a real recruiting hit with the hire of JH, but a 7-4 season could reinvigorate it.
In terms of attendance, women's basketball is probably one of the two. Last year we averaged 1,934 fans per game. Not sure if any of the other nonrevenue sports topped that.
Crisler Arena seats 30,000? News to me.
However you feel about WBB, if it draws more than any sport other than the big three (not sure if that's the case), I think it qualifies as the #4 sport.
How is lacrosse coming around? Is there spectator interest?
No votes for swimming yet, at all?
I would definitely put softball up there, probably #4. There's also the arguments to be made for gymnastics, but what about Men's Swimming?
I don't know the numbers, but I would have to assume Michigan's 19 NCs in that sport are up there nationally.
Edit - I should add Wiki notes only 12 of Michigan's NCs are official, though I am not familiar enough with collegiate swimming to know how contentious NC claims are/can be.
Crew & philosophy
For me, softball is #4. For some reason I have always enjoyed watching it more than baseball. When I was in school I went to some of the women's gymnastics meets because my sister was a gymnast and they were really good. Now, though, I would say lacrosse would get #5 for me. I haven't gotten into watching it too much because I never know when it's on, but I would definitely like to get into the sport.
1. Football
2. Spring football
Just for the attendance.
Whirleyball?
Softball is #4.
Baseball and Women's Basketball are probably #5.
But then again maybe it's Swimming or Gymnastics?
