NCAA Basketball Tournament - Nailing Down The Final Four (Open Thread)
Alright, folks, we've got half of the Final Four - we'll know the other half today. On CBS, we have:
2:20 PM - Michigan State vs. Louisville (line is MSU -2.5, I think)
5:05 PM - Duke vs. Gonzaga (line is Duke -2.0, last I saw)
My picks in the ESPN Bracket were Louisville and Duke, but I have MSU and Gonzaga in my yearly "chaos bracket" too.
You normally listen to sports talk radio?

Easiest bracket in the tournament helps.
It always looks easy in retrospect. They still had to go through Virginia which according to Kenpom was the 4th best team in the nation. I hate State as much as the next guy but it's not their fault that the 1 got knocked out before the sweet 16. They can only play the teams that are put in front of them.
Anyone who knows basketball saw that Virginia flame out from a mile away. Should have been playing Arizona.
The current status of a team is the only thing that mattered at that point. Virginia was no longer close to being a top 4 team at that point.
We've established that you certainly didn't see it coming...
as an obvious undervalued seed in the easiest region by far. Jeez, why did MSU become the plurality favorite (see FiveThirtyEight.com et al) to reach the Final Four as a #7 once #1 Villanova and #2 Virginia went down with #3 Oklahoma and #4 Louisville still remaining?
(Oh, and I'm tied for 4th in the 650+ entrant MGoBlog pool, so I'm not playing Captain Hindsight.)
Because (i) they have Izzo, and (ii) they had just smoked the #24 and #18 teams, outplayed the #2 team in what turned out to be an overtime loss, then proceeded to beat the #36 and #6 teams. They were a gambler's wet dream at that point - a 7 seed performing like a 1 seed.
Zags are losing it.
Come on Zags, get it together! Okay seriously, I need you guys to win for my bracket, GET THE LEAD OUT.
That was not a foul on Okafur.

gets every...effing...call.
Gonzaga keeping up really well. Surprised given how fast Duke started.
Contain these Devils!
GET A FUCKING BASKET
I'm rooting blind, what's going on!?
hate when that happens...
At least be glad we're not Zag fans... Talk about perennial choke artists. This is probably the best team Few has had too.
I know right?! Tiny little school in the middle of nowhere that lands all that top-flight talent. All they ever do is make the tournament every year with a bunch of guys that never end up NBA stars. Total losers.
I thought for sure they experience and talent the Zags had this year would finally get them over the hump but they're their own brand of Virginia...
This is gonna be a Kentucky Duke final unless Wisco surprises some people.
Please stop showing Few's daughter crying on national TV. You went to her twice, with her seeing herself crying on the big screen the second time, getting even more upset, great job guys.

They get enough shots of Izzo crying, you would think they would be satisfied.
you don't even get to try to foul to catch up...time out to get subs in, where's the fat lady...
I'm glad Duke won because blocking Sparty from another title is paramount. Izzo would reach Coach K status in the media's eyes.

I give them a chance against Duke. Not sure if I'd rather see Duke beat them in the semis or Kentucky embarass them in the finals.
2 B10 teams in the Final 4 during a down year... not bad.
I just love all the "root for the B1G" talk. NFW has ANY State fan EVER pulled for Michigan. Don't fall for it guys. FUCK STATE and all their fans, forever.
This is a Final Four so loathesome I'm pretty sure I'm rooting for the vanguard of the bug people.

Well when you compare it to the teams we played in 2013, their bracket is laughable.
UM in 2013: 13, 5, 1, 3 = 22 to reach the Final Four
Semifinal game vs. # 4 Syracuse
Final game vs. #1 Louisville
MSU in 2015: 10, 2, 3, 4 = 19 to reach the Final Four
Semifinal vs. #1 Duke
Final (doubtful) vs. #1 Kentucky or #1 Wisconsin
But, but, but, MSU was in the worst region ever as set up by Mark Hollis. You, sir, are laughable.
Oklahoma and Louisville were both underdogs. It helps being matched up with teams that aren't even respcted enough to be favored as higher seeds.
But yeah, real tough road playing those powerhouse programs of Oklahoma and flame-outs Virginia!
