NITology: Michigan in the 6/7 seed range
The latest NITology is out. However, it has NOT taken into account Michigan's win today.
Before the game, they were slotted as a 7 seed and would be heading to 2 Miami. Now, they could possibly be moving up to that top 7 line or maybe even a 6.

Another NITology that was released Friday has Michigan as a 6 seed heading to 3 Saint Mary's.

Again, that was before Michigan's win so they would be moving up to a mid or maybe a high 6 in that NITology.

Doesn't take into account that we'll win the BTT either I see.

Are you Hoke? I heard he thinks they can still win a championship.

Our goal is to win the next game. And the next game. And the next game.

Ironic that Nebraska is listed as "outside looking in" in the NIT bracket. after Tim Miles bans the team from the locker room.

The only way they'd get more than one is if they rise up to a 2 seed which is unlikely unless they win out and win a few in the B1G Tournament.
4 seed would get them at least one home game against a 5 before they'd most likely head to a 1 in the second round, barring an 8 over 1 upset which has happened recently.

Ah, you may be right about that. And yea, I almost want to face Sparty again in the BTT and do what they did to us last year (lot of assumptions there, but still) on the way to pulling of the miracle of making the Dance. But more realistically, I'm honestly I'm not looking at the NIT as a failure of a season as it's been fun watching these guys grow and a few more games in New York through March will still be fun.

so it's more like we'd be an "effective" 0.500 in the B1G if we were to win the next three.

Not that it will get us into tourney consideration, but it does seem the nonconference schedule is looking less bad.

was huge.
Had we lost, we would have had a challenging path to 0.500 and almost surely would have finished below the worst record invited to the 2014 NIT (High Point at 2 games over 0.500 per LSA2000).
Now if we just beat Rutgers and @NW we're assured of a record at least one game over 0.500, and what would have got us to 0.500 (2-1 plus 1 BTT win) instead gets us to 2 games over 0.500.

NITology is a thing?
Who does it, Junior Lunardi?
February 22nd, 2015 at 9:46 PM ^
go as follows: Maryland, loss; NW, win; Rutgers, win. I assume this moves M into definite NIT tourney contention even if they go out early in the bgtn tournament?

If they play like they did today, they'll win out this regular season and possibly snare a 3 seed in the NIT.

For those that would rather face Illinois in our opening BTT game and avoid Iowa, the loss drops Illinois into 8th place at 7-7. Iowa (8-6) plays Illinois at home on Wednesday. A win by the Hawkeyes would almost ensure that our opening BTT game will be against someone other than Iowa.
*Although MSU ended up winning 60-53, up 54-49 with 55 seconds left, the Spartans turned it over twice consecutively. The first led to an Illini layup to close it to 54-51 but Illinois missed a 3 point shot after the second and wouldn't score again until a garbage time layup with a couple of seconds left.

Its amazing how everything went in late for Illinois against us, and then they can't even make wide open 3s in this game. The last few minutes they had multiple air balls and that one guy that hit that late three against us (his shots were barely hitting the rim).
What a joke.

How on Earth is Florida a 1 seed in the NIT?! They're 13-14

If we have a winning record, we'll be invited. It seems like that's all that should matter unless we're hoping for a home game.
