Do you foresee helmet stickers returning?
I believe it was Mo to Lloyd which transitioned into just the winged helmet. With such a loyal ambition to Bo do you think JH will revive this incentive for players or do you stand with a non-cluttered beauty which is the symbol of all that is Michigan?

That'd be cool. I've never seen them.

I grew up with them, and would love to see them come back. Seems like a reasonable alternative to legends jersey (or an addition to them).

They interfere with the wings and generally clutter things up. It works much better on a plain helmet design like OSU's.

If I recall correctly, some teams only give them out after a win. Lose, and no one gets them. That'd be a good compromise, imo.

I don't know the exact standards used by different schools, but judging by the number of second-string players on some teams with tons of stickers, I assume there are also team accomplishments taken into consideration.

One OSU blog claimed to have a copy of Tressel's sticker criteria and published a picture of it a while back. I've never seen anything like it leaked from a Bo/Moeller team.
I don't know if Harbaugh would bring them back or not, but I'm firmly in the "do not want" camp on helmet stickers.

Helmet Stickers (for actual on field accomplishments) Vs. Legends Jerseys (for ???)
I prefer the former.

Doesn't mean there aren't individual achievements. Put another way, if individual achievement isn't to be recognized, why all the emphasis on individual statistics? Why bother having a depth chart, use a participation roster, that way everyone on the team has an equal and fair amount of plays.

If they bring them back, I hope the new stickers are a lot smaller than the ones Bo and Mo used... That way it doesn't take away from the wings.

I understand you're new here, but expect to see a lot of conversation about helmet stickers in a thread titled "helmet stickers". And Harbaugh.

I think they were probably motivating and they could serve as a visible reminder of how much he wants to restore a culture of achievement and winning.
December 27th, 2014 at 5:22 PM ^
As many have mentioned, the team is in serious need of a culture change. Maybe this can be part of it.

I dont think Jim cares about how pretty the helmet is. If he played with helmut stickers and employed them at Stanford, I think they'll be back. It's fine by me.

Growing up, I don't know that I really had a preference so much as I wanted Michigan to win every game that I saw / attended / etc..., but nowadays I do tend to agree with others in that we have this helmet which is iconic and stands for enough achievements - team and individual - as it is without them. They would distract from something that is by itself beautiful, in my opinion.
That being said, it isn't my call and I don't know that I would necessarily complain either.

The only way I'm open to helmet stickers returning is if they invert the colors and scale the size of them down a bit.
