Good Job Moderators

Submitted by Bo Schemheckler on

Can we all just give our Mgomoderators a round of applause for staying on their toes and containing the lunacy that has been the last few days? Well done fellas

For obvious reasons I didn't want to start a new thread but think its a taking point and goes here as well as anywhere:

Was it this bad last time? As you can see I've only been posting since 2012 but I read the site around the time of the last one of these. I don't remember things being this bad. Maybe it's the explosion of twitter, the even further expansion of the net & blogs, but things really seem worse with so much (mis)information and cow droppings (I'm trying to swear less) what say you board, was it this bad?

The search itself wasn't all that bad, because it was really compressed. RichRod's firing to Hoke's hiring was 5 days (January 6th to January 11th). There are only so many ridiculous-ass theories you can throw out there in five days. Here, we've been speculating about new coaches for 2 months, with another month to go.

On the other hand, it was way worse because unlike this time, where everyone pretty much agrees he had to go, last time there was an active debate over whether RichRod should be fired at all. THAT got really, really ugly.

Yeah I can definitely see your last point. At least once a month during the football season I've seen some sort of rehash of the RichRod debate play out. Now that we've fired our coach & are looking for another while the PAC12 COY plays for a playoff spot I hope we can let thing be water under the bridge & move forward with our new harbaugh...err I meant coach

Huge has been trolling Michigan fans on his show every time I've tuned in this week.  He's not unpleasant to listen to, but I think he's a lot less careful than Sam about sensationalism, and is not above the occaisonal trollbait to get callers.

I think we should applaud the entire board, or at least 95% of it, for sticking to the standards that Brian and the mods have established.  We all know how most other sports boards look.  We are really spoiled here.

I threw an idea out there this morning on the Friday Posbang thread:

And while it probably isn't possible to award points thru Amazon when we go shopping online there thru the MGoBlog website, is there any other way possible to award points, even by an honor system, when we shop there on behalf of MGoBlog?  For that matter, if and when we contribute by clicking on "Beveled Guilt"?

Anyway, great job, Mods!  I hope Brian appreciates your hard work and upgrades your equipment from those Commodore 64's soon.

The Mods are what separate this site from so many other sports forums.  I will forgive threads that could go either way being taken down for the comfort knowing that absolute nonsense and personal attacks won't last long around here.  I will also say, as a woman, this is probably one of the most respectful sports sites I visit.  Some of that is users and some of that is mods.  Pictures of Kate Upton and lame references to gang bangs in the Pos Bang threads are tame compared to some of what's out there.
