How this Minny team lost to Illinois two weeks ago gets even more unbelievable as they trounce Iowa more and more. I know everybody has a bad game, but they really shot themselves in the foot with that loss.
November 8th, 2014 at 1:39 PM ^
Anybody doubt Minny can hang 50 on Iowa before the break? There's still time for at least two more muffed kickoffs.
November 8th, 2014 at 1:41 PM ^
I take that back. Minny just gave away a couple of free, giftwrapped lob opportunities into the end zone.
November 8th, 2014 at 1:39 PM ^
Oh man - Diamont threw to the wrong guy on that Hail Mary. There was another WR open deep.
November 8th, 2014 at 1:39 PM ^
Diamont is basically Tate without any arm at all. His hail mary was like 35 yards.
November 8th, 2014 at 1:41 PM ^
Minnesota settles for a long field goal when they had a chance to throw deep a couple times and put the dagger in. And then they obviously miss the kick. Big Effing Ten.
November 8th, 2014 at 1:43 PM ^
35-7 isn't already putting the dagger in?
November 8th, 2014 at 1:45 PM ^
It's not unheard of for Minny to give up 28 points in the second half by any stretch. And it's also not like Iowa can't put points on the board at times. There is also a big psychological swing there. Tacking that extra TD on could have killed Iowa's spirits more than anything else.
November 8th, 2014 at 1:51 PM ^
This isn't the 2003 Minnesota team coached by Glen Mason. The 2014 Gophers seem pretty solid defensively.
November 8th, 2014 at 1:56 PM ^
That team gave up 31 points in one quarter. But do you really want to argue that a team that most recently lost to Illinois can't possibly blow a big lead to a team that just scored 45 points in their last game? No, I do not believe that 35-7 at half is a dagger. It's bad, and I seriously doubt Iowa comes back, but I still think it was a big mistake not to take at least one deep shot there. They went Lloyd Carr and we all know that sometimes that comes back to haunt you in the end.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:01 PM ^
But do you really want to argue that a team that most recently lost to Illinois can't possibly blow a big lead to a team that just scored 45 points in their last game?Yes, because I think both of those outcomes were flukes. Minnesota is a solid team that had an off game against Illinois and has regained its focus. Iowa is a solid team also, but they're clearly not ready for this game, and they're not the type of team to go into hurry-up mode for an entire half and be successful. Even if they can, Minnesota's probably going to hog the ball for a ton of time.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:06 PM ^
Yeah, I think you make a lot of good points. I don't argue that Iowa has almost no chance. All I'm saying is that Iowa still has a little bit of a chance to come back. All it takes is a mistake or two from Minnesota, which is possible. And I think that if Minnesota had turned that last turnover into a TD then Iowa's chance would be zero.
November 8th, 2014 at 1:42 PM ^
Minnesota just put on a clinic against Iowa.
November 8th, 2014 at 1:48 PM ^
Dammit - someone beat me to the punch to get you to 13000 points lol
November 8th, 2014 at 1:43 PM ^
Iowa is losing 35-7 to Minnesota.
At half.
Minnesota. Football. Big Ten.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:38 PM ^
This means we should win big today... right?
November 8th, 2014 at 1:50 PM ^
Georgia Tech has like 2 and a half times less plays than NC State and they are whooping them.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:01 PM ^
no defenses
November 8th, 2014 at 1:53 PM ^
Iowa has 113 yards of offense on 31 plays and Minnesota has 253 on 36 plays (27 of which are runs in their case). Iowa's rushing game is an eerie tribute to our own last year - 34 yards on 18 attempts. The three turnovers (2 fumbles and an INT) certainly don't help.
Meanwhile, Penn State has 221 yards and 7 points over 32 plays. So much B1G going on right now.
November 8th, 2014 at 1:58 PM ^
To be fair, I saw that number for PSU and was surprised it was so high. 400 yards of offense sounds like a lot to a Michigan fan.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:04 PM ^
What about, arguably, the most important stat?
November 8th, 2014 at 2:00 PM ^
Diamont 6/10 for 34 yards. Announcer: "That's not bad." Yes. Yes, it really is.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:04 PM ^
Mike Goldberg
November 8th, 2014 at 2:07 PM ^
Well given that he threw for a combined 35 yards against Michigan and MSU, I guess that is a good outing for him.

November 8th, 2014 at 2:09 PM ^
Did they just blow their chance to get back in the game?
November 8th, 2014 at 2:11 PM ^
November 8th, 2014 at 2:13 PM ^
Minnesota scores to effectively end their game. And Purdue just got a long TD to make their game 24-16.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:14 PM ^
42-7 now. Very possible they are putting 50 up.
Good for them.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:16 PM ^
hanging in with Wisc.?
10 3rd Qtr points. Within 8 points now 24-16
November 8th, 2014 at 2:17 PM ^
IU's Coleman should be a Heisman finalist. He has no support whatsoever and is still putting up awesome numbers.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:37 PM ^
This is what bugs me about the Heisman. The trophy is not for the most valuable player. It is for the best skill player on a top team. Coleman is more valuable than any player in the nation. Although sometimes I feel like Kevin Wilson needs to be reminded of that.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:19 PM ^
14 points in 4 minutes to open 2nd half.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:23 PM ^
November 8th, 2014 at 2:23 PM ^
getting booed on their home field.
Baylor 31-14
November 8th, 2014 at 2:45 PM ^
Do we still want Bob Stoops?
November 8th, 2014 at 2:29 PM ^
November 8th, 2014 at 2:32 PM ^
Baylor has opened up a can on Oklahoma.
What's wrong with Minnesota? Only 1 TD in the 3rd Q. What the heck?
IU-PSU. Yeesh.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:41 PM ^
Penn State has 294 yards through 3 quarters, 92 of them on the Belton run. Excluding that run they're averaging 2.6 yards per rush (not stripping out sacks).
November 8th, 2014 at 2:47 PM ^
Oklahoma getting their ass handed to them. 38-14 and Baylor is moving the ball at will.
In Oklahoma!
Gone are the days of OU and Texas being the inevitable Big 12 Champions.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:57 PM ^
Oklahoma...fire Bob Stoops. NOW!
November 8th, 2014 at 3:18 PM ^
OU QB is terrible and its kicking game is terrible. But at least Katy Perry likes their QB.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:49 PM ^
I can't believe they lost to IL? They should make it interesting for the B1G west. MN average recruiting class is about 68th. Hoke's average recruiting class is around 18th. The only reason MN is so much better than Michigan is coaching! On paper the ony other team with more talent than Michigan is OSU!
November 8th, 2014 at 2:50 PM ^
Penn State's offense offense might be the only one in the country slower than ours
November 8th, 2014 at 2:58 PM ^
They're down to what like 3 O linemen? Just points to how much more pathetic we are.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:50 PM ^
Iowa beat Northwestern 48-7.
Iowa is currently losing to Minnesota 48-7.
Northwestern must be reaaaaaaallllllllllllllly bad.
November 8th, 2014 at 2:51 PM ^
I literally just laughed out loud to turn on Minnesota 48 - Iowa 7, after the numbers Iowa put up last week. BIG TENNNNNN!!!
November 8th, 2014 at 2:52 PM ^
Indiana WRs have been dropping passes all day. When Diamont actually puts one in your arms you have to catch the damn ball.
