OT: Jameis Winston suspended for First half of Clemson game for vulgar comments

Added an OT on for good measure

Other students said they were tired of Winston's off-the-field behavior. Tyler Wendlend, a freshman, said Winston should know to lay low.
After everything else in which Winston has been said to be involved, I certainly don't blame students for being a bit weary of having the antics of one player serve as a terrible distraction and to have their school be in the spotlight on what seems like a monthly basis sometimes. I imagine the team is pretty sick of it too for the most part, but I do agree with others here - this is more than I thought FSU might do.

What do you think of the DBT's new material?

Listen, this is only the, what, the kid's 3rd incident to make it on national news (after the rape accusations, stealing crab legs and condiments, and then yelling this out in the lunchroom)? Cut him some slack. And honestly, based on the trajectory of the offenses, next time he'll just fart in the middle of class or leave his dirty plates in the sink.
Honestly, someone at FSU needs to either lock him in a room until gameday or follow him around and not let him do anything, because he's making FSU look like even more of a clown school than before. That said, good for them punishing him against an actual opponent.

That they are leading in?

Jay Berwanger, 1935 Heisman Trophy winner, University of Chicago:
“I wanted to attend a school that would give me a first-rate education in business, without special treatment, so that I would be prepared when opportunities were certain to return.”
Jameis Winston, 2013 Heisman Trophy winner, Florida State University:
"Fuck her right in the pussy!"

He certainly didn't break the law but this is just another addition to a list of questionable behavior by Winston. I think a suspension is appropriate if nothing else to let him know that he is not above consequences. And I imagine NFL GMs are taking note. Nobody likes headcases but everybody knows that kids eventually grow up.

Normally you write this off as just rude, insensitive, stupidity. Given this guy's history however it's on a whole other level. FSU has to do some ethics checking at this point.

I just...don't really care, one damn bit, that he did this. And, I don't care about his history in this instance, this just seems ridiculous to me he's suspended for yelling words in public (words that weren't even intended to cause emotional/mental harm.

If you really don't care one damn bit, that means you'd be fine with him dating your daughter, right?

I have to say I was surprised FSU suspended him at all - let alone against Clemson with a repeat NC on the ine. Yes, it was only a half, but they are saying are saying winning a NC is not THAT important that we turn a blind eye. Yes its only a half, but they didn't have to do anything considering his past and what goes on in college as far as shennanigans.
Come on everyone! We're going streaking in the Quad!!! I mean college is meant for saying and doing stupid stuff - harmless stupid stuff. Standing up and saying something obnoxious isn't harmful to anyone but Jameis himself (draft stock plummeting lol). An easy way for FSU to handle this would have been to have him run bleachers until he puked, but they suspended him for a huge game - half of a game.
The scary thing for Jameis at least is the pattern of absolute moronic decisions. Making a mistake happens. Keep making the same stupid mistake - flashing warning sign - DANGER! He said he wasn't going to be Johnny Football. Well kudos Jameis - you're waaay worse than Johnny Football was from a bad decision standpoint. HINT: Next time get paid $50k for standing up and yelling that... Jeesh...

If FSU is trying to teach him a lesson, suspending him for half a game is laughable.

Where does FSU expect him to f*ck her? Would they have been more tolerant if he said "f88k her in her a$$?" I also understand that OSU's Marching band is practicing walking out the spelling of F**k her in the P***sy for their half time show this Saturday.

"F eight eight k her in her A money-sign money-sign" I'm betting would have been more tolerable.

a cancer and he will be one with whatever team he plays for. I imagine the Raiders will take him in the second round, unless he speaks out loud again, it is a long season after all. I too am suprised FSU suspended him at all, I suppose they figure that their defense can keep the game close so he can come back in the second half and be a hero by pulling out the win. Then some of his team mates can look the other way as well. The one's who won't look the other way are right now wondering what all the huboo is about in the first place.

On one hand, it's another thing to add to "Dumb things Jameis Winston has done"
On the other....I would be lying if I told you I have never yelled that at friend's. Close friends, and in my defense it was actual, helpful advice

This guy is like a thug, autistic child, and foolish frat boy all rolled into one. What he did was harmless college shenanigans; the only problem is he's too stupid to understand that as a public figure, he has to be above behavior like that, especially with his lengthy track record. Honestly, this simpleton has no right to be in college based on academic merit, and even if he did, he should have been kicked out by now for disciplinary reasons.
What's even more telling is that despite all of the evidence showing a lack of intelligence, impulse control, decision making, leadership, and maturity (basically the skills looked for in a quarterback), this guy is still ranked as a top 3 prospect. Winston is going to be a huge disaster for a foolish NFL team.
