2014 NBA Draft Open Thread
Will tonight be the first time since 1990 where Michigan has a trio of first rounders?
Will the Pistons take a Wolverine if one is available?
Will Jordan Morgan sneak in the draft?
John Beilein said he will wait out all 60 picks to see if JMo gets drafted.
Zeller and Biyombo aren't going to stop them from picking Vonleh. McRoberts also opted out.
opted out.
*Hornets
I have to believe that he would have been a Piston if they were still at 8. Joe D you dumbass.
I have no reason to believe that he will be any different than the dozen other busts Dumars drafted. Dumars was worse than Millen at drafting players.
"How important was Tom Crean in your development?" lol
Needs scoring on the wing because MKG's offense is AWFUL.
If I'm them I take GRIII without question. GRIII is like the opposite of MKG. They compliment each other at the SF position extremely well.
So much for that McGary promise, no needed to take Vonleh AND McGary.
Where are Noah Vonleh's postseason highlights?
LOL, teams are just pretending last year didn't happen.
Not really. Last year was either the worst or or second worst draft class ever. There are likely no all stars, and maybe only a handful of starters. It was really, really bad. I don't think teams are going to let that class determine what they do going forward.
I'm assuming he's the highest-drafted Louisiana-Lafayette player ever?
Hornets still going to keep their promise to pick McGary at 24 after picking Vonleh?
They also have Zeller and I'm sure they're interested in resigning McRoberts.
Unless they see him as just a C, there's no way.
was one of the bright spots on their team last year...I would've went with McDermott if I was the 76ers.
If I was the Sixers, I'd have no problem trading MCW. His value will never be higher. His stats were padded and largely a mirage. Maybe you can fool someone into over-valuing him because of that and the fact that he won ROY.
I'd love to see Mitch in SA
Mitch is a big guy and could put good quality minutes at the 4/5 position and could prove to be more ready than Vonleh.
Love how every player comparison ESPN has done tonight has been black to black, white to white. That's just lazy. Typical, but lazy.
I liked that McDermott compared himself to Szczerbiak. He may have a future in broadcasting.
Sounds like Payton, not MCW, is going to get traded.
Also, Dario Saric, the top international prospect, is falling (predictably, considering he might not come over for a couple of years). It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. He could be a real steal. He was in that second tier with guys like Gordon, Smart, Randle, and Stauskas.
Saric to 76ers for Magic PG Payton
Chad Ford reporting that Denver will send McDermott to Chicago Bulls for picks 16 and 19. Bulls wanted a shooter and since Stauskas was not available they took McDermott. Also saves $900K of salary cap.
Chi is trying to free up $$$$ for Melo.
Dumb
Anyone who is plugged in to the twitters hearing anything about Stauskas in Sac town being included possibly in that rumored Josh smith deal with the pistons?
I don't think there was anything behind those rumors.
That would be great if true though.

sparty managed the rare feat of being one of the most disapointing regular season teams and one of the most disapointing tournament teams. izzo's going for the tripple crown with the disapointing draft.
not proud of enjoying spart schoedenfraud, but i am enjoying it. the narrative that izzo doesnt get guys to the league re-inforced yet again.
What is wrong with you???
They were hurt and weird!!!!

In other news, Gary Harris has really fallen from where people thought he might end up.
Also Twitter rumors said the first 9 teams said they were not looking to trade any of their picks. Lots of trade volume in the selections after that though.
Terrible pick with Peyton and now have to wait for an international player.
Draft Lottery Picks produced since 2013-
Michigan: 2
state: 0
I don't think State has produced a lottery pick since 2001 with JRich.
we've got some definite contenders to run up the score on this next year, too.
Big nights for Grand Valley State and Eastern Michigan. Both schools just had as many players taken in the lottery as Michigan State did.

Sounds like Payne is coming off the board to ATL.
Consensus 5* Gary Harris/Adrein Payne outside the lottery, looking at something like half that #theBeileindifference
Where would Michigan's guys have been if they waited.
15. Atlanta- Adreian Payne, PF, MSU...there goes the big man who would have been a lottery pick if he was 2 years younger

This is very, very classy. Good on you, Adam Silver.
The most amazing thing I've ever seen at this level of sport.
People miss opportunities. Life deals blows, and Austin seems like he's handling this with the greatest of grace. But this moment created by Silver has put the Association in greater esteem in my book, and it's awesome for that young man to get part of the experience.
