"Hello" in the making?
There is rumbling (out at Scout) that Alabama 5th year senior center/guard Chad Lindsay may transfer to Michigan for his final year of playing college football. He was a 3 star out of The Woodlands, TX but with very solid offer list.
Hope it is true - we need experience and a big body at center and Chad has both. This of course impacts the outlook of 2014 season.
How cool would it be to play college football for Alabama and Michigan? It will be interesting hearing his thoughts on the experience at the end of next year.
The name sounds familar. Was he starting last year?
Yes he was and he started in Alabama's bowl game.
HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL DATA: Chad Lindsay came to the Capstone as one of the top interior offensive line prospects in the nation ... a January 2010 enrollee ... second-team EA Sports All-American ... the top offensive guard prospect in the nation according to ESPNU ... ranked 74th in the ESPNU 150 ... also listed as the No. 15 guard by Scout.com and the No. 41 offensive lineman by Rivals.com ... an athletic offensive lineman with solid fundamentals and good technique ... played in the ESPN Under Armour All-America Game ... ranked as the No. 42 prospect in Texas by Superprep Magazine ... a PrepStar Dream All-American ... anchored The Woodlands offensive line as a three-year starter in 2009 ... named to the 2009 Touchdown Club of Houston All-Greater Houston football team ... a three-time all-district selection ... a two-time first-team Texas Football All-State choice in 2008 and 2009 ... chose Alabama over offers from Oklahoma, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Mississippi State and Nebraska ..
So, what does that mean for the projected guards and center? Does Glasgow move over to guard and displace Bosch or Kalis? Does he replace Glasgow and turn him into a backup? Or does this guy become Glasgow's backup?
Fith year transfers are not looking to be a backup. He will have to compeat but having time in Nuss system gives him a leg up.
He won't displace Glasgow, since he's our best lineman. Glasgow will start somewhere whether it be center, guard or tackle. More likely replace Bosch or Kalis, possible Glasgow goes to tackle and Braden becomes the first reserve.
sorry
experienced lineman at this point, but I'd be more excited if he were a tackle.
I love it! As posted earlier this would be ideal for everyone involved. Its not typical Michigan but this has a giant upside potential with very little downside. A 5th year "body" and probably the highest level of experience practicing in the Nuss system could be a little silent thing that blows up into something quite awesome. If he just added depth and helped mentor underclassmen that would be very cool. Hope the silent wheels of justice make it happen 8-)
Does Michigan offer any graduate programs that Alabama doesn't have?

Burn!
and obviously used to playing at a high-caliber level. wouldn't need to learn the plays or the line calls. makes a ton of sense, especially if he wants an excellent grad degree.

We can take Mcdowell too.
Nuss, McDowell, Lindsay . . . we're going to get fat on everyone else's leftovers.

who says he "just heard" that Lindsay is transferring to Michigan. He offers no evidence whatsoever that he actually knows anything. On top of that, Lindsay would have to be accepted into grad school at Michigan, and you don't just walk onto campus here and get accepted because you want to.
From a football standpoint it sounds like he'd be a nice addition to the OL, but I'd take all this with a little bit of salt right now.

Does not say Michigan is his landing spot.

Yes, he would be able to play. He would be a grad year transfer, the same as when Russell Wilson went to Wisconsin.
According to rolltide.com, he graduated last August and isn't on the list of players for spring football.
home of Jarett Irons, one of my favorite Michigan players OAT.
Adding another interior lineman with game experience can only be good.
