Yeah, echoing this. There is zero chance Kirby leaves for Bama.

He is a UGA bulldog himself (played there; also had his first coaching job there); he's already built a deathstar, why start over?; Athens >>> Tuscaloosa, plus you're close to a major metro area in ATL; Georgia itself has more talent instate than Alabama as well (much more populous, and growing much faster).

I'm sure he'll be the first call the Alabama AD makes. And I think Dabo would take that job in a heartbeat. But his stock is not as high among 'Bama fans as it was a couple of years ago. They're not known to be the most sensible folks in the world, so I'll be interested to see how he's received by that fanbase.

I'd be shocked if it IS Dabo. He's come to look like an anachronism both as a coach AND a Bible-thumping, moralizing hypocrite in recent times. I think that they like to think they're more progressive than that these days. They were smart enough to hire a real football savant rather than a caricature when they hired Saban--let's see what happens.

On the political hustings, yes. But watch. If you ever knew Tuscaloosa in the old days, you might want to take a trip there today. Visit, for example, their amazing women's soccer facility. A kind of class consciousness and striving evident there that's miles from easy or patronizing stereotype.

A certain kind of American liberal runs several decades behind the facts in its caricaturization of American conservatives. You might like them or you might not, but they took over American politics while liberal America slept its self-satisfied sleep. Ideologues they may be; stupid they're generally not. I'd advance a very large bet that it's not Dabo, more likely someone like Oregon's Lanning.

I like Moore and Minter a LOT.   But, they haven't been head coaches and - to my knowledge - aren't part of the Bama "family" or Saban's coaching tree.

The Bama faithful take this game of football quite seriously and managing the various constituents - booster community - etc., will not be an easy thing to do.

Wow  I thought he had a couple more years left in the tank.

Wonder how this will affect the program and recruiting.  Big shoes to fill by whoever will replace him.  any rumors yet about possible candidates?
