CCGs - How would you rank other conferences / teams - based on their play?
Two of the P5 CCGs are essentially over. Washington won last night, and Texas is in control. Bama & Georgia kick off in about half an hour,
What do you think of the games / teams you’ve seen thus far?
Which team(s) look the most complete?
Enjoy.. Go Blue!

Washington, Oregon and Texas are all good football teams.
December 2nd, 2023 at 3:45 PM ^
And we can thank UW & Texas.
They ended any hope of The Ohio punk bitching their way in again.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:03 PM ^
That was all Texas, IMO. They and FSU were the teams most in control of keeping OSU out. Had Oregon won they'd have 100% jumped OSU for a spot. In fact, the argument would be whether UW was still ahead of OSU with a loss last night so I think on that aspect alone the result last night was good for OSU.
Texas winning shut them out, IMO. That 4th spot argument (if UM and UGA win) is now about FSU and Texas because Texas won. OSU needed both FSU and Texas to lose more than anything UW did or didn't do. The P12 Champ was getting in this year.
IMO, you now have 5 teams left vying for 3 spots. UGA, UM, FSU, Texas and Bama. I thought it was insane to even think that The SEC could benleft out but with that Texas win you have a scenario where Bama winning could knock both SEC teams out. My thinking was UGA is in no matter what but now I'm not so sure.
There is also technically a scenario still alive where UM is left out should they fuck around and lose to Iowa. It's why I'm not sure if UM comes out ultra-conservative to not lose it by their own hand or aggressive to try to end it early, both of which hold their own risks against a team like Iowa.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:02 PM ^
We would score well against each of those teams.
December 2nd, 2023 at 3:38 PM ^
Can't rank them until all the CCGs are done. Washington and Texas are both worthy opponents. This playoff should have some quality games.
December 2nd, 2023 at 3:40 PM ^
IF Bama and FSU win, I think the sEC gets shut out. They should.
December 2nd, 2023 at 3:48 PM ^
Yes and we would open with a wounded FSU team.
Now let’s go jump in Iowa.

Michigan and Washington are basically locked in to the Rose Bowl.
The committee has manipulated the order before to get better matchups and avoid rematches. They're going to put B10 vs Pac12, for the last time, no matter what
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:10 PM ^
I have that feeling as well but I can't see how UW and UM wouldn't move up with a Bama & UM win. To secure that matchup you'd have to somehow move UW back to 4 or keep UM at 2. Then you have to ask who would be 1? FSU with a win? No. Bama going from 8 to 1? Doubt it.
If Bama and UM win tonight, UM would be 1 and face Bama/FSU/Texas. No idea how they'd lock in a UM-UW matchup in the semifinals.
IMO, of course.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:34 PM ^
Are you asking how a group that basically ranks teams solely based off opinion, with zero oversight or accountability, can justify between moving a team one spot for the matchup they want?
They just do it
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:43 PM ^
Too tin foil hat for my liking. If UGA loses, its for sure UM or uWash at #1, and no way the other is #4
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:08 PM ^
I think if FSU wins the committee has to award an undefeated power 5 team with a bid, but once in they order the teams based on recent performance and potential. There, they will move FSU to four behind Texas because of the QB injuries.
They will feel justified by giving them a ticket to the dance and seeding according to present threat level.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:19 PM ^
No, he’s pointing out that’s it’s silly to just assume it will be UM vs UW, you can’t accomplish that if Alabama wins, because you can’t explain how it makes sense. It would be impossible to justify.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:46 PM ^
You're right. They're not (overly) manipulating for matchups. If UGA loses, then Michigan will be #1....and Washington will be #2 or #3. They wouldn't play each other.
First things first.....Beat Iowa!
December 2nd, 2023 at 3:52 PM ^
We need to beat Iowa
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:32 PM ^
Well according to the all-knowing experts at ESPN, if Bama wins they would/should get both teams in.
December 2nd, 2023 at 3:44 PM ^
This is what Texas is going to do to Ohio State:
December 2nd, 2023 at 3:55 PM ^
the Big Ten is going to bonkers next year
and Michigan has to play the reining BIG12 champ and the Pac 12 champ
The Big is superior to the SEC going forward
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:07 PM ^
But they'll have the play the reining B10 champ.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:32 PM ^
reigning 3x* B10 champ
December 2nd, 2023 at 3:58 PM ^
Teams that are marginally good at defense are winning these games. Looks good for us.
Go Alabama and FSU. Lock out the SEC, and give us FSU in the first round!
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:04 PM ^
Texas has a top 10 defense on SP+. The only team that will be in the playoffs that doesn't have a top 10 defense according to SP+ is Washington.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:00 PM ^
Honestly:
Except for FSU due to their QB, all of the teams we might see if we beat Iowa are excellent and dangerous. There are no gimme games. Georgia is the favorite. Bama is hot and growing. Texas is loaded with weapons. Washington has the kind of offense that sends chills down my spine.
And they all have to deal with Michigan's NFL defense and monster DTs and Blake Corum and JJ McCarthy.
Only great teams are left. Anybody can win.
Except for Ohio State.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:03 PM ^
I like how you think
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:02 PM ^
Even though Georgia is ranked #1 I still think they are underrated... I've heard a lot about how they aren't as dominant this year and there is much more parity at the top, but whenever Georgia has had a big game on their schedule they've crushed their opponents. I think they are going to do the same to a very good Bama team... we'll see.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:26 PM ^
Kirby Smart is top tier.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
By height.
December 2nd, 2023 at 6:02 PM ^
Texas looked good, but Oklahoma State's defense looked like ass. Maybe that's because Texas is so good, but I haven't seen so many missed tackles all year. I thought JJ could edge Washington's D-line, and if we get there, I would have to hope JJ runs are unlocked.
December 2nd, 2023 at 6:06 PM ^
Alabama and Georgia look like a couple teams filled with 5* recruits and future 1st rounders. So the usual. They are bigger and faster than everyone else I've seen in the CCGs so far.
December 2nd, 2023 at 6:53 PM ^
Seeing Alabama show what a legitimate QB run game does to a defensive backfield makes me sure hope there's a fully weaponized JJ for the January game plan.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:15 PM ^
This is the best possible result for an SEC title game. It's looking like a very close Bama win and not played at an elite level by either team thereby weakening their arguments to gain admittance should FSU get it done.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:22 PM ^
Bama is the best team in the country and if we were to draw them R1 it'll be bad news for the good guys.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:25 PM ^
Alabama sux and the SEC blows this year and Gary Danielson is a douche.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:40 PM ^
So much for our year-long "Beat Georgia" drills. The OSU scheming worked so bring in Iowa and whoever's next
