OT - Ian Kinsler: Hope Rangers go 0-162
In today's very PC world - don't see too much of this anymore. Might add a little bit of a storyline when the Rangers come to town.

I was like what team is the Hope Rangers and how did they go 0-162? I was thinking this was some sad high school somewhere
My exact same thoughts. I guess I don't follow baseball that much.
"We won't go 0-162," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "Guaranteed."
Well that gives me hope if I'm a fan.
Capitalization rule with sentences after colons: If only one sentence follows the colon, it is often not necessary to capitalize the first word of the new sentence. If two or more sentences follow the colon, capitalize the first word of each sentence following.
...that the "Hope Rangers" are a children's toy. And if they're not, then someone should jump on it because it sounds like an obnoxious money maker to me.
Love it. I wished more athletes gave honest thoughts and opinions.
Charles Barkley, Shaq and Dennis Rodman approve of this post.
But seriously, He meant it as a joke.
I remember when Brandon Inge grumbled about keeping his infield position. He didn't want to help his team by moving, despite being badly overpaid.
Since Kinsler's lifetime average outside of Arlington is an Ingeian .242, I'm starting to see a scary parallel.
2B tend to age poorly. Kinsler is 32. He'll project ok at the position for this year and be a passable bridge to Devon Travis. Baseball America's #2 organizational prospect, #84 overall/top 100.
Ehh, Travis probably won't be an everyday player at the MLB level. Not saying it's not possible, but he seems more like a decent to average hitter at best with below average defense.
You might be right. This year will be interesting to see how he handles AA and possibly AAA by September. The Tigers don't have a problem jetting players through the system if they have a need. Luckily Kinsler probably won't dip below a negative WARP for two more years.
Other than to Detroit, that is.
They asked him to move to first so Jurickson Profar could play second.
The difference I see, in this scenario, is that it was clearly a move that would hurt the team in the present but maybe help the future. As a competitor, I don't have a beef with him being upset about the request.
Kinsler was (and, hopefully, still is) good---Inge not so much.
Obviously they decided to build behind Andrus instead of Kinsler but it seemed odd to ask an All-Star 2B to move to the OF mid season.
I think that's what happens when the hype train gets out of control. With the likes of Puig coming up and putting on a show in LA I'm sure they wanted to give their kid a chance. Ian's in his 30s, they obviously didn't have him in their long term plans anymore so they tried to push him to 1B and OF. Sometimes, it's just best to let your prospects be prospects. As much as I hate St Louis, they have some crazy great pitchers and kids like Taveras waiting for their chance but they never allow the hype to cloud their judgement and alienate their quality veterans.
Inge has only hit over .242 four times in his career and only once since 2006. He's a career .233 hitter with a .301 OBP and that isn't because of some late career slump. Kinsler on the other hand is a career .273 hitter with a .349 OBP. The comparison is asinine. Inge never was even close to the player that Kinsler has been.
He's getting up there in age, and like other posters I expect some decline, but to compare him to Inge is bad.
That would be fine with me.
It lets me know that they care.
Im with him. Fuck that roider Nelson Cruz.
Note: Im all for roids I just really hate that Nelson Cruz beat us himself in the playoffs when he was on his cycle. Bastard.
Seems like sour grapes
