Caesars Sports has Ohio State as a 2.5 point favorite over Michigan in a hypothetical title game
Apparently Vegas thinks UM's 22 point road win over OSU was a fluke. I mean I'm not saying it should be Michigan -22 or anything but this makes no sense.
Funny thing is last week I saw the same future odds and they had OSU/UM as a pick em. Maybe the Corum surgery news changed it, but of course Michigan beat OSU the first time without Corum.

That's nice
December 5th, 2022 at 8:31 PM ^
I guess it is progress since it is down from the 8 pt spread from 10 days ago..... there are between 45 - 23 oddsmakers who come up with this stuff
December 5th, 2022 at 6:33 PM ^
And without Morris
December 5th, 2022 at 10:42 PM ^
I don't think we really need Shane Morris though.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:33 PM ^
Apparently Vegas thinks bettors think that.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:40 PM ^
^ this is what was so stupid about Saban arguing for Alabama over TCU because they'd be favored. Vegas is not some benevolent non-profit that's trying to accurately predict football games -- they're trying to make money and setting spreads accordingly. The spreads don't affect the results on the field, just because you're a Vegas favorite doesn't mean you're the better team.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:44 PM ^
Despite Saban using gambling terms, I have to imagine what he really meant was: Which team would Corso pick on the set of GameDay? Just basically, who would everyone expect to win. Not really about how would Vegas set it up to maximize profit.
That said:
1) That is a really stupid argument.
2) Uh, I dunno, I could see people picking Ohio State.
3) He was totally grasping because he had no good argument.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:02 PM ^
I would pick OSU in a game vs Bama without hesitation. That was what was crazy to me, he was arguing eye test like it was some obvious thing, when it really wasn't.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:49 PM ^
To be fair, I honestly think he was going for TCU's spot. I could be wrong, I'm not sure when Saban initially scheduled the interview. If he was going for OSU, that's idiotic to expect the committee to jump one team over another while both teams were idle and only a couple of games were played by opponents (to hypothetically have better wins and losses). Oh and those games of relevance (mostly Georgia pounding LSU and Michigan pounding Purdue) both favored OSU
December 5th, 2022 at 7:58 PM ^
He was going for OSU's spot. He kept calling out "a team that lost by a lot at the end of year" while claiming his team got better at the end of the year.
December 5th, 2022 at 8:40 PM ^
In the end, I wound up right back where I started. I could still pick winners, and I could still make money for all kinds of people back home. And why mess up a good thing? And that's that.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:34 PM ^
First I need to see how many Buckeyes decide once was enough.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:35 PM ^
Sun must have been too bright. Playing in dome will surely be the difference this time.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:36 PM ^
I want them again. No way they can adjust that quickly to what we did. It would be such a glorious victory
December 5th, 2022 at 6:43 PM ^
It took 'em a year to figure out how to play us the way we played last year, and then they still got smoked.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:55 PM ^
They need new Coordinators and schemes. Maybe Gerg and Nussmeier are available.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:22 PM ^
Since Greg is actually dead, I wouldn't have personally made that joke.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:29 PM ^
I actually wasn't aware of that.
December 5th, 2022 at 8:10 PM ^
I wasn't aware either until Keith Jackson mentioned it during the TCU game Saturday.
December 5th, 2022 at 8:02 PM ^
I don’t get why some OSU fans are so eager for a rematch. Seems like the cope is that it was a fluke. Again. Day had a year to come up with a better plan…and more or less lost the same way. They slowed Michigans run game for a while but eventually the dam burst all the same and their offense continued to move the ball between the 20s and sputter when the field got shorter. If Day couldnt come up with a better plan in a year why would you think he could in a month?
December 5th, 2022 at 8:27 PM ^
I share your bewilderment. Last year, in Ann Arbor, in the snow, with the flu? Sure, ok. Maybe it was just a fluke.
This year, in Columbus? By an even bigger margin? Hell of a coincidence.
Maybe we just flipped "heads" twice in a row. But I know I wouldn't be confident, especially considering what a third loss in a row might do to the program.
And it's back in Ann Arbor next year.
December 5th, 2022 at 8:59 PM ^
I don’t get why some OSU fans are so eager for a rematch
They know, in their more lucid moments, that they don't match up well with us. Still, there is a lot of upside to a rematch.
Once you've been pantsed on your home field by three touchdowns, there's almost nowhere to go but up. Another loss to Michigan would increase their level of embarrassment only marginally more so than now. But a win over Michigan, no matter the score, would be their salvation. It would wipe the slate clean.
Bonus: since they don't actually expect to beat Georgia, they feel free to mouth off to us now.
December 5th, 2022 at 9:25 PM ^
Alas, it would NOT wipe the slate clean. Despite whatever happens in the POST season, we beat their ass at home in THE game and won the Big Ten.
December 5th, 2022 at 9:51 PM ^
I mean, that would be our argument. But if you think they wouldn't say, "yeah, you beat us when it didn't matter -- but in the National Championship game, when all the chips were on the line, we won," you're kidding yourself.
Indeed, even I find that a terrifying prospect. Sure, if we beat them twice, awesome, literally the best Michigan season -- perhaps the best college football season by anyone, ever, since it would involve beating your arch-rival, in the most famous rivalry in American sports, twice in a season -- of all time.
But the prospect of allowing them to beat us ... and win a National Championship in the process, essentially erasing the memory of what we did to them in November from the national consciousness, is terrifying. I really hope we don't play them.
December 5th, 2022 at 10:23 PM ^
In last year's SEC title game, Bama blew out Georgia. Georgia turned the tables in the national title game. Which of those two games do you think the two fanbases care more about?
December 6th, 2022 at 6:59 AM ^
From their point of view, the slate would be more than clean. I have a feeling that they would be over the moon happy about A) winning a National Championship by beating us and B) denying us a National Championship.
As for me, I hate OSU's guts and them beating us and thereby winning the Natty would be miserable. The Big Ten trophies we've won would be some consolation for us but I could hear them crowing about them beating us when it was all on the line. Recency bias can be a nice coping mechanism.
December 6th, 2022 at 7:38 AM ^
That is a gif of a weak British looking guy asking another guy to hold him back. The other guy attempts to hold him back half heartedly because the first guy doesn’t actually want to fight and poses no actual threat. (Phone embed fail)
December 6th, 2022 at 1:32 AM ^
Re: OSU fans -
These are the same QAnon-adjacent geniuses who think we only won because we were stealing signs, so that’s the level of cognitive ability we’re working with here.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:48 PM ^
We will adjust to their adjustments.
We have better coaches and players.
We are just better.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:58 PM ^
I'm not eager to play them again, but I'll be honest: if we beat them twice in the same season, with the first win in dominant fashion on the road and the second win for the national championship, it would completely erase the stink of 2001-2020. It would be epic. Those two wins together would be worth 50+ regular season wins in The Game.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:13 PM ^
Exactly this.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:51 PM ^
If we beat them again making it 3 times in a row and the last for the National Championship, it would break their fan base. Ryan Day would be fired immediately and I would be refreshing their forums every 5 minutes.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:59 PM ^
Yep. It's hard to beat the same team twice, but the result is worth the risk.
December 5th, 2022 at 8:28 PM ^
December 5th, 2022 at 8:34 PM ^
It's a good thing, then, that if we play them again we won't lose.
This team has swagger unlike any Michigan team I've seen in 25 years, and the entire dynamic of this rivalry has inverted.
As much as I would prefer to play UGA and watch these dudes avenge last year, beating Ohio State for an outright national championship just gives me chills. Playing for all the marbles. It would crater them.
December 5th, 2022 at 8:29 PM ^
In this case it would be 3 times in a row. A fact I would not shut up about.
December 6th, 2022 at 1:32 AM ^
I say it's groundhogs day. Play OSU every weekend from now until Thanksgiving 2023, and unless the results change, Day will either have his meeting the goddess moment, or he gets to keep reliving that day. It'll be better for OSU in the long run to avoid their own flukey hubris.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:40 PM ^
After reading 11W, Day announced that he'll be using carrier pigeons to send in offensive plays. That'll solve all of their problems.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:42 PM ^
Whatever …. Why is Erick All transferring ??
December 5th, 2022 at 10:53 PM ^
Reportedly, he and Cade were roomies. Close connection sometimes blur out reality.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:42 PM ^
I take it they didn't watch the first game?? Someone should tell them!
December 5th, 2022 at 6:43 PM ^
What’s the line on
Michigan vs Austin Peay?
December 5th, 2022 at 6:44 PM ^
Joke's on Caesars. If we play OSU in the championship game, all bets are off.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:30 PM ^
I see what you did there.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:45 PM ^
I like it. Good motivation.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:45 PM ^
No, Vegas is saying that, at a -2.5 spread favoring OSU, an equal amount of money will be bet on each side of the proposition.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:49 PM ^
Exactly! Setting a line is much about psychology as it is about actually predicting the outcome of the game.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:02 PM ^
Proof positive is this thread. Lot of angry Michigan fans (including myself) that would be slamming that Michigan +2.5. That said, Vegas does look at a lot of factors and they have their own analytics as well.
