What have you noticed on your rewatch?
Like many (most? all?) I have rewatched the the game. For me it has been twice over the weekend and I am sure I will watch it a few more times this week.
What have you noticed on your rewatch that you didn't notice watching live (or in person if you were there)?
Fun thing: CJ (I think) was knocked down on Loveland TD pass. He got up and signaled TD while the ball was still in the air.
Football thing: On the MS TD breakup it is amazing how far he came to make that play. He was positioned on the left side of the defense and must have made up 20 yards to make that play. I'm not so sure it was even his guy.

Rayshaun Benny made multiple huge plays. Announcers never said his name. He wrapped up Stroud for the big sack before Stroud kindly decided to throw it into Upshaw’s bread basket. I did not anticipate him playing much - let alone making game-changing plays!

D line fixin to be elite again next year.
I done tell you what.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:56 AM ^
We might have the best Michigan d-line in years next year.
MacGregor, Mason Graham, Kris Jenkins and Eyabi Okie noticeably moved Ohio State's OL around (especially MacGregor, holy hell). Derrick Moore got some run too. Benny with a sneaky good performance. I didn't notice Kenneth Grant but he's been coming as of late.
Give us NHG back next year, all 3 safeties (Moten, Moore & Paige), our stud 5* Will Johnson who was blanketing Marvin Harrison Jr.!?!
B1G better watch out, that defense is gonna be NASTY
November 28th, 2022 at 12:15 PM ^
NASTIER!
fify!
November 28th, 2022 at 9:26 AM ^
Agreed I thought he played great. McGregor's best game of his career too. Would have love to see him get that Pick 6 if Stroud's throw was on the money.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:29 AM ^
McGregor was amazing, but I definitely didn't need a rewatch to notice that.
November 28th, 2022 at 2:09 PM ^
Our defense should actually be better next year. And that is saying something.
November 28th, 2022 at 3:25 PM ^
McGregor made plays too.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:01 AM ^
The Sainristil breakup was a key play in the game. Just fantastic effort and technique.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:13 AM ^
Mike Sainristil is a Nickel that can breakup a Dime.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:20 AM ^
He can also play zone with quarters coverage. If I had a penny for every sainristil play. That dude is as tough as a 2 dollar steak.
November 28th, 2022 at 10:20 AM ^
Welp, we ran out of money clichés, unless we use foreign currency. He did £ that ball out to take away the touchdown!
...I'll let myself out.
November 28th, 2022 at 10:23 AM ^
He's got a yen for the big play.
November 28th, 2022 at 10:31 AM ^
Coverage so safe and sound it will make you yuan.
November 28th, 2022 at 10:15 AM ^
I don't know whether you made that up, but it 100% deserves to become how that play is forever known.
November 28th, 2022 at 10:28 AM ^
Yeah, I had an epiphany when I saw that pivotal play:
Mike Sainristil: The Nickel that stopped a Dime.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:01 AM ^
Seemed like Corum was inches away from a TD in the 1st quarter when he tripped or was tripped up for a two yard gain. It didn't matter in the end.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:23 AM ^
That was CJ Stokes, and that's the play that Brian talked about on the podcast where if that was Corum, it was a TD.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:41 AM ^
This is the thing that jumped out at me. There were two plays where the line blocked it up and Stokes blew it. And if Stokes gets that cut the entire tenor of the game changes.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:59 AM ^
It's a game of inches and in years past that was our starter that couldn't get it, today its our 3rd stringer. But not to worry, he's a freshmen. Give him a year or two and he too will be a DUDE.
November 28th, 2022 at 10:17 AM ^
We were saying the same thing about DE last year and look what happened. Mike Hart is THE MAN.
November 28th, 2022 at 11:22 AM ^
The way I worded that comment was too harsh. Stokes isn't Corum. Corum (a Heisman finalist) makes that cut and gains30+ yards. Stokes left some yards on the field.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:03 AM ^
The biggest thing that jumped out to me was how close to the line their entire team was on Cornelius Johnson's first long catch. Deep safety was 6 yards off the line on 3rd and 8.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:05 AM ^
And Roman Wilson was also wide open 25 yds downfield on that play and could’ve ran backward for a TD
November 28th, 2022 at 9:08 AM ^
Cover 0 WIDE OPEN. I guess Johnson was the hot read? JJ couldn't have known but Roman knew and it shows up in his VLOG.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:23 AM ^
awesome, OSU blitzed and sent 7. JJ was under heavy pressure and he made the right read. CJ did the rest!
November 28th, 2022 at 12:49 PM ^
Yeah if you watch the play second by second on youtube, JJ has guys in his face before Roman can even break open so I imagine CJ must've been bail out, but man if JJ had 2 more seconds Roman could've walked to the endzone he was so wide open
November 28th, 2022 at 9:19 AM ^
Pause at 36 sec mark and you’ll see him break free as the CB falls at the snap.
Here’s a good view of the CB falling on his ass from his backpedal. 6 seconds in.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:58 AM ^
Holy hell, you're not kidding. Roman could've walked in for a touchdown with how wide open he was. JJ got lucky that CJ broke that one anyway
November 28th, 2022 at 10:20 AM ^
With pressure coming from everywhere, JJ was back pedaling and buying time. It is hard to scan the field, if I remember that play correctly. Well, CJ made a play and we wanted our WRs make a play. I wouldn't call it lucky. Listen to DG. He has been saying how hard it is to quarterback, especially with pressure up the middle and from everywhere.
November 28th, 2022 at 10:55 AM ^
It's not JJ's fault he didn't see Roman. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing on JJ here. He kept the play alive in the face of enormous pressure and usually we don't make those plays against Ohio State.
It would have been another "coulda-shoulda-woulda" moment like all those dropped interceptions in years past. Love that now we're on the side that makes the high leverage plays when we need it most
November 28th, 2022 at 2:54 PM ^
That play was made when JJ saw the blitz coming before the snap and knew where he was going. All he had to do was give CJ a chance to get to 9 yards and turn around. He threw the ball at 7 yards. A perfect answer to the defense sending the house.
November 28th, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
Another thing I noticed on rewatch is the arm strength required to make that throw, falling backward. That was really impressive; a lot of college QBs would throw something looking more like Kalel's pass.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:26 AM ^
Other plays got talked about a lot (on the pod and elsewhere) about what having a 5* QB does for you, but that play was it for me. Feeling the pressure, making the right decision, then getting the ball there on time, accurate, and with major pace is an elite play.
CJ does major work to get the TD, but we haven't had a QB in the last 20 years who would've given him the chance.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:58 AM ^
So true! Osu brought the house and pressure in his face and JJ knew where he was going on the 0 coverage the out would be there if he put it there. Great throw, Arm and presence under fire to do so. That is mental calm to slow the game down enough to make decisions in the line of fire. 5* does matter and why we need them over and over!
November 28th, 2022 at 10:16 AM ^
This reminds me of the exact play where I went from "Stick with Cade" to "It's time for it to be JJ's team." It wasn't anything from last season or anything from the Hawai'i game. It was a throw he made vs Colorado St. He threw an out route to the opposite hash to Henning with such incredible velocity that just showed that his arm talent was there to make tight and difficult throws when it mattered the most. While he didn't really have to do that much all season, he did it when it mattered most. 3rd and long with defenders barreling at him. That was as 5* of a play you can get from the QB position.
November 28th, 2022 at 4:11 PM ^
In a situation like that I always wondered why offenses didnt call a deeper snap to the qb. Put him back 10 yards to give him the needed time. Hell you couldve put JJ back into deep punt formation and Wilson wouldve been open.

That Gus loves osu.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:11 AM ^
Well, with 17 million sets of eyes it, it truly was a World Famous ass kicking!
November 28th, 2022 at 9:16 AM ^
Gus is a Michigan fan from Detroit.
But what Gus loves most is hype. "World Famous Buckeyes" is just hype.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:17 AM ^
He’s a Michigan fan. He was on Rich Eisen’s show last week and mentioned now his significant other and her family are rabid OSU fans and that he had to leave the room during the OSU-Clemson CFP game because it was so nauseating. He also brought up how as a kid he would come home from playing for the Westside Cubs in Detroit to watch Michigan play and those are his best memories. I think he tries to overcompensate for it by showering praise on OSU but his genuine love for U-M comes through on our big plays.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:47 AM ^
I grow weary of the whole “the announcers are rooting for the other team” stuff. It does happen sometimes but guys like Gus and Mussberger and Vitale love big names and big teams. So do neutral viewers. Gus and Klatt have been kind to UM and Harbaugh over the Big Noon years.
November 28th, 2022 at 10:26 AM ^
if you listen to Gus during the 2021 game you can hear the excitement in his voice every time Michigan scored. And it wasn't just him being the hyped up announcer calling the game showing excitement, it was genuine!!! and then after the Big Ten championship game there was a shot of him giving Cade a huge bear hug!!!

- Stroud was more accurate on the move then he’s been all season long, but his receivers dropped some catchable balls. The notable example was the throw he made on the run to Harrison over the middle that went through his fingers. After last year, they owed us a few drops.
- Robbins hasn’t seemed right since he got run into. I want to say it happened against Nebraska.
- If you watch the B1G in 60 broadcast, you hardly have to endure any of Klatt’s pontificating.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:18 AM ^
Klatt is the best in the business.
He called out early how OSU was going to keep getting burned if they did not go away from cover zero.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:37 AM ^
Klatt is the best color guy in the business now. His analyses are excellent.
