META: MGoBlog 3.1 Bug Sticky
This a thread for any bugs you find on the site after our server migration and Drupal 9 transplant. It will stay atop the message board for a few days while we live beta the site.
Known issues:
- Open Live Writer integration is broken (this is on the server and they're working on it)
- The "Reply" button is missing on the message board.
- The sandwich dropdown menu isn't working in mobile.
- New posts not showing on message board.
Comments made in this thread that aren't relevant (e.g. general complaining, anything regarding ads) might get deleted so it doesn't get cumbersome. Human Element doesn't run the ads on the site so please keep this thread clean from that.

On my iPad none of the options on the top line with the sandwich menu works. Also contributing by credit card button doesn’t bring up usual menu asking for card number and such.

Can’t access drop down menu from home on both Safari or Chrome on iPhone. So really can’t see anything except homepage
earlier in week only Safari had this issue.

Seth - any chance of posting an ETA as to when the reply button might get restored? Without it this is no longer a community where you can have a discussion. Now It's a billboard where we all just yell our thoughts out into the wind individually.
Kinda sucks to be frank.

Not sure if this counts, but the current Illinois preview post has minimal information on the front page (just the kenpom ranks), with a jump button. After hitting the jump button to the article, there is clearly more information "above the jump" on the full post. Not sure if that is user error or a bug.

Hamburger menu doesn’t work on iPhone 13 with chrome on homepage. After going to a sub page it works

Update on a few of the bugs.
We pushed out an SSL update yesterday.
Right now we have fixes on staging for:
- Reply Button issue
- Open Live Writer integration (so I can post the damn UFR)
- Dropdown Menu issue on mobile
- A security issue that popped up.
Hopeful we'll be able to push those out over the weekend.
HUEL asked me for clarification on what I meant by one of the bug requests:
- Make a fucking three!
Clarification was provided.
Other bugs we found:
- Uploading a photo then trying to resize it causes a crash and you could lose the whole article.
- Points suddenly stopped working after the SSL update (I just negged this post and indeed it doesn't show)
- Some people are reporting that the site plussed a post they haven't read.
- iPhone users are reporting extremely long load times.
- The function that takes you to the newest comment or to your comment right after you post sometimes sends you to a random place instead.
- I asked if there was a way to do push notifications in the container app.

When I click the yellow profile picture while on the MGoBoard...nothing happens.
However, when I'm in a thread, such as this one...the button works and I can create a thread/diary post.
Edit: actually it only works if I'm on the first page of this thread. It doesn't work when viewing page 2 or as I edit this post.
Edit 2: this may be the same thing you're talking about with the UFR. But I can't copy and paste anything from the mobile. I just tried to create a post and I can't copy and paste the link when using the link function or just in the body of the OP...as a result, I can't create the thread because I'm too lazy to type out the entire link.
The format of the MGoBoard changes after Page 1.
This is on the mobile site. I haven't checked from the desktop version.

Also, this isn't a bug...but can we get notifications when someone has responded to your post in any given thread?
Just a maize circle to the left of the search magnifying glass with a navy number in it that corresponds with the number of notifications you have would be clean and extremely helpful.

Seth, if you can fix it so I can change my Avatar, it would be appreciated. Every time I try to remove the image and upload a new one, I get an error message.

Ads covering content using safari and edge as browsers
on the mgoboard, hit the new button and for many threads it takes you to the end of the thread, but with no posts and not even a page number to hit to get to that page.
Sloooow to open on iPhone.
I love that we can now copy and past pictures and gifs, but would it be possible for us to resize them when we paste them in the comment box? Some of them appear either really big or really small. I know that we can resize them when we upload them using the file manager, so it seems like this would be possible.
If not, no big deal.
As Seth posted earlier today, reply button is back on the message board but points are not working now.

Boy, the interest in this thread sure fell off a cliff. Points were fixed, Reply button was fixed, then points were broken again, then restored…where are we now? Is everything fixed? Not really. Does anyone care?
I noticed that the “bust silhouette” account icon in the upper right had not been working except on mobile for a period of time when it did work but only within a thread, not on the board. Now it seems broken again.
Maybe Seth can give us an overall briefing?

I DM'd Seth Monday evening about a particular problem I had noticed; turned out it was something he and the developers were aware of.
He didn't give me any specifics in his answer, only that they would be "deploying a fix soon" on issues they've identified.
The extreme slow loading on iPhone when you first visit the page (loads more quickly when already on the site and jumping around) is still going on. Not necessarily complaining as much as I wanted to point out that’s it’s still an issue. It was getting bad late last year and since the update it seems considerably slower now. Generally at least 25-30ish seconds for first load.
I noticed that all of my images that I had in the Picture Manager were gone, empty. I uploaded most of them again, now I found that when posting a picture it sometimes doesn’t have the “Select” button to complete the operation to insert the image in the Comment window. On mobile.
On Android phone, noticed the commenters points and join date showed up in landscape mode but do not display in portrait display.
This UI/UX experience is AWFUL.
Unsure what is being done but whatever is going on isn't working.
Reddit has a better UX experience and that is free.
Why does it take 30 seconds for the home page to load on Safari? It actually may be longer than that.
Many people have had this problem. The solution is to add it to your home screen. It opens without any wait. Instructions:

trying to post a diary about AAU and hoops recruiting. i hit the save button and get a message that says: error 403 forbidden you don't have access or something like that.
i then tried it on a regular post on the board and got the same message.
The fix is in. We just have to deploy it.
With the most recent UI tweeks, it appears that the collapse thread button has been pushed out of the viewable window. You can still click on it next to the time stamp but the symbol isn't visible.

On desktop, Chrome, Mac, scrolling threads and often when a gif is posted in the thread, just can't scroll further. Click around, switch tabs, etc, but can't scroll past (or back up - totally frozen) and have to reload the tab and try to quickly scroll past the gif. Never seen anything like it before... but it has been happening for at least a week or so? Maybe longer, and seems random.

This just happened again, but on the home page. Right around the start of the 2nd article on the main page, just froze and couldn't scroll up or down until refreshed.
Maybe had something to do with the ad between diaries and the board? Didn't see anything else that seemed to be disrupting...

I know there was a board thread about this that got removed for not being the right place, and that you guys are typing your fingers into little nubs but wanted to get it posted here that I, and presumably many others, have been getting an incredibly disruptive Discover ad that expands and covers half the screen, sometimes even doing it repeatedly after clicking the arrow to shrink the ad. I even had one variation of it where I got the large lower banner AND a side banner that pushed the message board sidebar off the screen to the side. Image included:

Hey Mods:
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes.
This season, when I try to look at FFFF, my computer (laptop, granted, and old) slows way down, and I think it's because of all the clips that auto-run in the post. Is there any way I can change a setting so that the clips don't do this?
This is not a wi-fi / internet issue and this is the only post type that causes this to happen.

Something similar to this happens to me all the time as well, especially on UFR's recently. The entire site will just freeze - can't scroll down & browser will ask if I want to kill the page, so I have to refresh (which doesn't always work) or re-open mgoblog in a new tab and try again, often only to encounter the same issue at a different point in the post.
I'm on a newer Macbook Pro, have experienced on both Chrome and Firefox.

When I try to embed media using the button, the OK button does not work. There is a javascriptvoid(0) in the bottom left. I use Edge on the computer.

Just wanted to say thanks to whomever oversaw the fix for getting the site to load in less than 2 min on mobile. It had gotten ugly there for a while this summer but things seems snappy again regardless of mobile browser. I think it was tied to the ads or something? Anyways just thought I’d say thank you!

this is very weird, but i've noticed that there's a bottom chunk of my screen on chrome (desktop version) that i can't click on...like, at all. saving a post, clicking on a board topic, clicking on a page number for posts...nothing. i have to pan down a little bit to move whatever i'm trying to click on a bit higher in the window, then it works. no big deal, obvs, just weird.

Just starting today I’m getting a dialog box asking for MGoBlog to increase storage size on my phone when browsing on safari (mobile). Easy enough to dismiss but it happens every time I load a page.

They're broken. We're working on it. So far all we've managed to do is break it on the staging site too.
