It feels like we are waiting for the new pope to be announced with puffs of white smoke….except for us, a new pope means a stellar, totally Harbaugh approved NIL program and our coach staying here till he retires.

He's going to the Steelers? Isn't that the steelmark logo they use? Yellow is for coal, so UM gets coal since they wouldn't pony up for NIL?

/s in case it isn't obvious.

For real though, if Jim was somehow able to get the university to finally start treating the football program like a real program then he’s… he’s… well, he’s something good.

Harbaugh indicated an interest in an NFL job even prior to the playoffs and he's now discussing it with more than one potential team.  Maybe that translates to a job he'll take. Maybe it doesn't. If he leaves, he's asked at least one staffer to go with him, and that staffer is the source of this info

Harbaugh>highly placed staffer>nameless>me

That is the routing of the info so take it for whatever you will.

Whatever happens, happens. He deserves to coach football without being responsible for setting up LLCs for NIL money and all that crap. And he's just super competitive, there are good jobs opening up in Vegas and Chicago at least, and his stock is about as high as it's gonna get. So it makes sense but it's a bummer.

Hope he stays and coaches what may be a generationally good offense next year. Not looking great.

I have no idea what this tweet is about. Yay, M flag!

The only problem with your theory is that Vegas has Davis who is the platonic ideal of a fail son. He looks like pee wee Herman as the inbred prince in the 30 rock episode. And the bears are a dumpster fire in the same division with Joe rogans favorite patient and a semi competently run vikings organization.

If you had said Seattle, I may have considered it..  at least their ownership has consistently shown competence and a will to win.

If you're willing to burn a bridge to family, Alma mater and home, you may as well do it for Trevor Lawrence, and Aidan Hutchinson as opposed to the bears or vegas.

If he is even considering Chi or Vegas, its probably time to stop drinking.

First, the Chicago and Vegas speculation is solely from me, not the source.

Second, do you seriously believe he's terrified of taking over a poor team? He took a 6-10 49ers team and turned them into a 13-3 contender in year one and a Super Bowl team in year two.

The Bears are 6-10 this year. The Raiders are 9-7. I doubt he would shy away from either. I also doubt the owner's haircut factors into his decision.

When Harbaugh took over the 49ers after the 2010 season ended, Alex Smith had just completed his fifth straight mediocre to poor season since being the #1 overall pick. Everyone, and I mean everyone in the Bay Area thought there was no way Harbaugh would bring him back. Instead, the new lobbied Smith to return and a year later they fell two flukey fumbles short of the Super Bowl, with Smith playing, by far, the best football of his career. It was a great coaching job. No, he’s not afraid of a losing record and doesn’t expect to start out on third base.

Hmmm...in the picture, the M banner is being run past the IG part of the Michigan endzone. The letters GIM...with a soft G, that even sounds like Jim. So, Harbaugh is staying. Mystery is solved.

Either that or I should watch Goose and Maverick take on some MIGs in Top Gun.
