Fuck the Big Ten.
OSU three and out, then Utes easy TD!!
With smug Herbstreit having to narrate it all.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:29 PM ^
I’m fine with PSU going down but I was pulling for Iowa against UK. Ah well.
Great start for the Utes!
January 1st, 2022 at 5:30 PM ^
Rooting for Ohio State to look good with a roster that they will roll into 2022 is both treasonous and idiotic.
Go Utes.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:32 PM ^
A three-loss Ohio State will absolutely implode.
Especially if Utah beats them Michigan-style.
The "soft" narrative is starting to stick, and it is freaking them out.
January 1st, 2022 at 6:00 PM ^
Urban is an ass, but it turns out he's something of a hardass.
Day probably wants to be hard, but at the end of the day that is not who he is.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:31 PM ^
Why fuck the B1G and not Fuck Ohio State?
I was hoping Iowa would win, but fuck OSU all day, every day.
Also, Herbie is getting crushed by OSU fans for basically calling CJ Stroud immature and saying the DPI on OSU was legit (it wasn't).
I know he went there, but he's about as unbiased as you can get from that fan/alumni base.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:37 PM ^
Definitely fuck Ohio State. And fuck some of the Big Ten . . . MSU, PSU, and anybody else we have to compete with for recruits to get us to the next level.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:55 PM ^
Fair.
For me it's fuck OSU, MSU, PSU and Nebraska...Wisconsin and Iowa are annoying, but I don't root against them unless it directly impacts Michigan.
But for me, fuck those 4. Everyone else, I'll root for in this situation.
January 1st, 2022 at 6:03 PM ^
Agreed.....I could not possibly care less about how the conference does, that's for those mouthbreathers down south to do at the urging of the espn hype machine. We're all UTES today
January 1st, 2022 at 6:06 PM ^
Absolutely.
I plus I generally like this Utah team. Whittingham seems like a good guy, they've lost a couple of players, they play a lot like Michigan.
And of course...they're playing OSU.
January 1st, 2022 at 7:10 PM ^
Fuck OSU, that is all. And to all a good night.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:28 PM ^
I just can't watch college football today. But I'll definitely check out the NC.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:50 PM ^
Same here, comrade
January 1st, 2022 at 5:29 PM ^
TD Utes. Sweet.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:30 PM ^
They didn’t just lose. They blew a 21 point lead. It was great.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:31 PM ^
I was hoping B1G would have won the early games today.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:34 PM ^
I've spent the entire first quarter thinking...
Would I rather Michigan lose the way that it did in the semifinals or beat Utah in the Rose Bowl and end the season with a Rose Bowl victory.
The semis was cool, because we've never done it. But I think if you asked me next year, I'd say Rose Bowl.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:36 PM ^
Get out of the BPONE man. Making the playoff is better than not making it, 100% of the time.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:42 PM ^
I said it was, lol. I said, maybe not next year...so if you want to debate that, have at it. I'd disagree.
But there's no guarantee you're going to lose the semis so OF COURSE you take the semis. You play to win.
What I was saying was a "in hindsight." Something you can never have beforehand.
And we just lost not even 24 hours ago...what are you expecting?
January 1st, 2022 at 5:46 PM ^
All the hindsight in the world doesn't change a thing. Making the playoff is better than not making the playoff, period.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:47 PM ^
Relax.
And for you it doesn’t...but the sweet thing about life is, your opinion doesn't matter any more than mine. Appreciate you sharing.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:50 PM ^
Well, the name is “Snarling Wolverine.”
January 1st, 2022 at 5:48 PM ^
In hindsight I'd skip all of second grade. Turns out I didn't need it.
But it doesn't work that way.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:59 PM ^
Second grade: the three hardest years of my life.
January 1st, 2022 at 6:26 PM ^
I did skip second grade and have regretted it ever since.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:39 PM ^
Another reoccurring thought since last night.
After that Auburn game, I never thought Bama would beat UGA.
Everything was about UGA winning, we win, we are #2...we play Cincinnati, and UGA plays Bama or Notre Dame.
Do that and we're in the championship, in a stadium we've already won in, most of us could drive, maize taking over Lucas Oil, and we'd be the last game of the entire season.
Not saying we win, but it would be a lot cooler to be playing for a national championship.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:50 PM ^
And in Indy, no worries of playing in the beach etc and making it like a vacation versus a mission.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:40 PM ^
One of the reasons we lost is that the moment was too big for us. We needed the experience of playing in the CFP.
"You get better at (playing in the CFP) by (playing in the CFP)."
January 1st, 2022 at 5:42 PM ^
I agree 100%.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:47 PM ^
Just like the Jordan Bulls had to get past the Pistons, who had to overcome Boston before that.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:52 PM ^
Eh...I hear you. But that's pro sports.
Oklahoma has been in the mix and they never "got over the hump."
Ohio State has been in the mix...but they haven't gotten over the hump when up talk about since Bama/Clemson took things over.
It's really been those two teams and then OSU, UGA, and Oklahoma all trying to do what you're talking about.
Bama is just different, I suppose maybe UGA meets what you're talking about. But they haven't been to the playoff since the championship game loss.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:41 PM ^
Alabama and Georgia don’t get their recruits by settling for the Rose Bowl.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:44 PM ^
Lol it's not "settling."
There is no realistic choice. You don't go into the semis knowing you are going to lose or into the Rose Bowl knowing you are going to win.
You take the semis 10/10 times if there was a choice between the semis and the Rose Bowl...that's not what I said though.
January 1st, 2022 at 6:56 PM ^
If you think there's not a difference, contemplate the number of OSU players not playing today who would have played last night if they had beaten us.
January 1st, 2022 at 6:08 PM ^
Come on, this isn't even a question. It's like asking if you'd rather lose in the Elite Eight or Final Four in basketball.
If you're somehow embarrassed by yesterday, that's crazy. There are exactly two teams in the country that can say they had a better season than Michigan.
January 1st, 2022 at 7:22 PM ^
I'd rather buy tickets and travel to a Rose Bowl game than the playoff semis, but would rather Michigan make the playoff.
The two aren't the same thing.
I miss the Rose Bowl. It's a special experience. But I also have friends in LA and used to live in SoCal so I'd prefer it as a trav destination.
I hope Michigan makes a Rose Bowl soon if not the playoffs but it's difficult with the unbalanced B1G divisions and tiebreakers. It requires narrowly missing the playoffs without an outstanding B1G west champ and the Rose Bowl not hosting the semi (23-24).
January 1st, 2022 at 11:03 PM ^
Would you rather lose in the first round of the NCAA tournament or win the NIT? Same thing.
January 2nd, 2022 at 7:03 AM ^
You’re essentially saying you would rather Michigan have lost to OSU and not won the Big Ten.
We lost to a better team while OSU needed an historic performance to beat a good but not great Utah team. Get out of BPONE and buckle up for 2022.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:36 PM ^
Fuck osu, all day every day and twice on Saturday.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:41 PM ^
Utah is taking care of the second Saturday time.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:39 PM ^
As both a BYU and Michigan grad, this rose bowl is an abomination. I can’t get myself to cheer for either team. I’m cheering for a meteor, or Bane.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:51 PM ^
Asked a longtime friend, a BYU hoops player and grad, if he roots for Utah in a game like this. Emphatic ‘yes’, he can’t stand Ohio either.
January 1st, 2022 at 6:10 PM ^
My disgust for Utah has been around longer, but my disdain for osu is just as strong. I wish they could both lose.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:40 PM ^
Ohio State is flat.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:41 PM ^
Ohio State looks disinterested. Like, they don't want to be there.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:42 PM ^
Most of their good players didn't.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:43 PM ^
To be fair, I don’t want them to be there and am disinterested in them performing well.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:43 PM ^
Or, just a thought, they aren’t as good as they/we/everyone thought.
January 1st, 2022 at 5:53 PM ^
They have lots of talent, top 3 or 4. Coaching and/or character issues seem like the issue.
January 1st, 2022 at 6:11 PM ^
Their disinterest is a great sign going forward. It speaks to lack of preparation, lack of attention to detail, degraded professionalism, and a lack of awareness that these high profile games are still valuable recruiting tools that might swing a recruit or three down the road.
