And, just to get ahead of the RCMB . . .
"Conspiracy!"
"Boycott the AP!"
And hi to all you RCMB losers who spend 90% of your time on the internet monitoring this board.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:44 PM ^
....and yeah, it didn't even cost us $9.5 million to keep him.
But wait for it, he actually is giving all of his bonus money to other colleagues in the athletic department who took a pay cut, I'm sure Mel is doing the exact same thing if not more!!!
December 10th, 2021 at 2:22 PM ^
Now how ridiculous does the B1G Ten look for naming the fourth place AP coach as the Conference COTY!
December 10th, 2021 at 12:46 PM ^
I'll admit I have visited RCMB at times of Michigan success vs. them, or times where something bad happens to MSU for my own petty reasons, but I just realized they have a 475 page(!) 11,858 comment(!!) thread going about Mgoblog imploding. Oh, and this is Mgoblog imploding part 3(!!!) I'm assuming because the other 2 threads got too full. Just amazing amounts of little brother energy coming from that place.
Anyways, back to reality. So happy for coach Harbaugh and all he has accomplished this year.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:59 PM ^
Their game threads about Michigan are just as long as state games threads. They are obsessed.
December 10th, 2021 at 1:51 PM ^
They ranted against "BSPN" when Walker didn't get a Heisman invite, and now they are playing the same riff with this one, calling it a "media award". It's almost like they forgot that OSU dismembered them and mailed their parts to seven continents in the penultimate game of the season. That anybody affiliated with that team is even being considered for any postseason awards is a colossal act of charity. I think Walker deserved his two big awards, but I agree he shouldn't be at the Heisman ceremony. And I particularly feel Tucker should get nothing. 56-7. What the fuck? That's absolutely terrible.
December 10th, 2021 at 2:12 PM ^
Walker should be there Stroud should not. Walker is MSU football stroud is just a QB at OSU.
December 10th, 2021 at 5:12 PM ^
ESPN is majority-owned by Disney. And Disney's CEO got his MBA from... MSU: https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/leaders/bob-chapek/ (it's at the bottom of the bio).
December 10th, 2021 at 12:12 PM ^
From goat (for some) to Coach of the Year ... The man is awesome, and he's ours!
Go Blue!
December 10th, 2021 at 1:39 PM ^
From goat to GOAT?
December 10th, 2021 at 12:12 PM ^
Fire Harbaugh!
December 10th, 2021 at 12:14 PM ^
You beat me to it!!!
December 10th, 2021 at 12:22 PM ^
Nicely played!
Kidding aside, now it's time to get JH signed to a contract extension.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:38 PM ^
Give him at 10 year and 1 month $96 million contract.... Tucker..B1G COTY...Cute.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:40 PM ^
I'm still kinda liking the (much) earlier suggestion of $1MM/win. :-)
December 10th, 2021 at 12:44 PM ^
How about:
- $6 mil for each victory over Ohio State, Michigan State, or Notre Dame
- $100,000 for each additional victory
Kidding/(not kidding)
December 10th, 2021 at 2:00 PM ^
Now come on, he only get's the big $6 million for beating our rivals OSU, ND, and Rutgers.
#disrespect
December 10th, 2021 at 12:56 PM ^
that was me, and i wonder if harbaugh might actually do something like that. i mean, dude averages 10+ wins/year (non covid). seems like even a bad year, which aren't going to happen, would still pay $5 or 6MM. and the value for the school certainly makes sense.
December 10th, 2021 at 1:25 PM ^
Yep, now I recall. Yes, it was you!
If I were pressed to make a guess? I think that both Jim and Warde would shy away from a deal like that. It's too ground-breaking, too flashy a deal; neither one of those guys strikes me as flashy, lol.
But I still really like the idea!
December 10th, 2021 at 7:15 PM ^
I like the pay cut/incentive Harbaugh. Pay him $1 for the year and 50 mill if he wins the national championship and watch the duck out. He got fat and sassy and now he’s lean and mean.
December 10th, 2021 at 2:02 PM ^
I can't help but notice how this season has paralleled the Fire Bakich year. I think we need to almost fire all of our coaches!
December 10th, 2021 at 12:13 PM ^
BREAKING: Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh is The Associated Press college football coach of the year, finishing ahead of Cincinnati’s Luke Fickell and others.

Luke Fickell moves to 0-3 as a head coach against Michigan
December 10th, 2021 at 12:28 PM ^
Bing Bong.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:46 PM ^
Maybe he'll be able to go 0-4, given a win over Alabama (??!!??) and an M win. Go Blue!
December 10th, 2021 at 12:47 PM ^
Mel finished 4th - DISRESPEKT LIVES ON!!!
December 10th, 2021 at 1:36 PM ^
Orrrr, maybe, just maybe, the voters B1G COTY might have a little bit of bias against Michigan and Jim Harbaugh. Nawwwww, that CAN'T be it!
Congratulations to Coach Harbaugh. Well deserved
December 10th, 2021 at 12:13 PM ^
Awesome!! Congrats Jim!
Just thinks of all the butt hurt Buckeye and Sparty fans... the joy of it all!
December 10th, 2021 at 1:33 PM ^
Harbaugh now has more AP Coach of the Year awards than Urban Meyer and Nick Dantonio combined!
December 10th, 2021 at 1:35 PM ^
Isn't he also the first Michigan coach to get it?
December 10th, 2021 at 12:14 PM ^
Best 1 year turnaround in Michigan history? Big ten history?
December 10th, 2021 at 12:54 PM ^
that may go to indiana...this year...but in the wrong direction.
December 10th, 2021 at 2:22 PM ^
That was more of a run aground.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:14 PM ^
Juwan was also AP Coach of the Year. A great accomplishment for an athletic department that I don't think anyone else has achieved.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
Whatever you do - don’t dare give credit to Warde Manuel around here ?
December 10th, 2021 at 12:23 PM ^
He does suck. He hired arguably two of the worst coaches for our top 2 programs.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:25 PM ^
Michigan is also the reigning conference champion in football and men's basketball for the first time since late 1986.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:14 PM ^
Fire Bakich!
December 10th, 2021 at 12:15 PM ^
Mel Tucker 4th. Hehe
December 10th, 2021 at 12:41 PM ^
That is one worst than their B1G East standing...
December 10th, 2021 at 12:16 PM ^
What a year for Michigan Football! Just think about where this program was 365 days ago. Beyond well deserved.
But I guess not good enough to be B1G coach of the year.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
This year's awards have been all over the map.
Harbaugh, the best coaching job in the country, but somehow not the best coaching job in the conference.
Hutchinson, not good enough to be even a finalist for the best defensive player award, but will likely finish second for the Heisman.
And, to be fair, Kenneth Walker wins the Walter Camp trophy, but finishes sixth in the Heisman voting.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:19 PM ^
Best Coach in the country - who was widely panned by ‘fans’ and media calling for his head less than one year ago. Congrats and well-deserved Coach Harbaugh!
December 10th, 2021 at 12:21 PM ^
Wow, the vote was weird: https://apnews.com/article/jim-harbaugh-michigan-ap-college-football-coach-of-the-year-606abc1a2ae43a066d80ea5f992582ae
Harbaugh got less than half of the first place votes; there were three for Blake Anderson at Utah State, plus a vote for Saban? And four people who apparently thought "Well, if Tucker was the best coach in the Big Ten, he must be better than Jim Harbaugh."
Only 1 first-place vote for Dave Clawson at Wake Forest, which seems low.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:22 PM ^
As if there should have been any doubt.
Well done Jimm-ae!
December 10th, 2021 at 12:23 PM ^
Well done coach! Who’s got it better than us….
December 10th, 2021 at 12:33 PM ^
