NCAA Tournament Open Thread
Here's a place to discuss the early games until our game comes on.
Early out the gate, Colorado is making Georgetown look bad.
FSU v. UNCG getting ready to tip
Kansas v E Washington and LSU v. St. Bonaventure coming up shortly
The theme from the early games to me is dont have 3/4 of your roster occupied by guards and wings who can't really shoot.
Glad LSU and the Bonnies are getting their brokeness out of the way today so they can come shoot lights out against us...I mean today's winner....Monday afternoon.
Yeesh this game is u-g-l-y, with no alibi.
TBF Michigan probably needs a game or two to gel without Livers.
LSU seems to be struggling early against an opponent with an organized and competent defense. They can definitely score in bunches so I expect the offense to warm up a little bit, but 2 points in 7 minutes raises an eye brow a little bit. Kinda re-enforces the notion they are not used to playing against willing and able team defenses in the SEC. Good news for Michigan.
Counterpoint: The Bonnie's are no joke either and can play some suffocating defense.
At this rate, 20-30 points will win this LSU v Bonnies game
Still think you can see some dudes LSU has. Bonnies doing well on D keeping them out of transition. Still don’t see anyone on Bonnies O to score enough this game to win.
How is it 9 minutes in and tied 4-4? Wtf?
Eastern Washington-Kansas has been fun. 46-38 EWU at half.
And isn’t Kansas another one of those “pay to play “ schools that got away Scott free with NCAA larceny ?
Yep. The ball don’t lie!
I would love it if the NCAA actually got some *teeth* and *principle* into their rules enforcement. I know so many people rag on them (a small amount of it justified, but much of it is sour grapes for various reasons), yet I think the NCAA still serves a good purpose - it just needs the resources, authority, and leadership to do what is right and needed - not simply going through the motions (and keeping the money flowing).
It is also surprising the IRS doesn't get more involved. People try to pass it off as "who cares if a kid gets a few thousand dollars under the table?", yet 1) many of these cases are 5-6 digit under the table payouts and 2) it is easily thousands of kids each year (among the various revenue sports at programs likely to involve illegal money). A lot of dirty money here.
I love it. The Bonnie hits the FT for the TF and slapped hands with ghosts on the line.
I picked a bunch of upsets.
Just all the wrong ones.
All my losses are upsets. I'm upset that I picked them.
Napoleon Dyna- I mean the Groves bros are killing Kansas right now. Shooting lights out from 3.
Looks like the PAC12 was undervalued. Colorado cruising against the Hoyas.
This LSU-Bonnies game is like watching 2019 Texas Tech play itself.
Um, yeah. Not scared of LSU.
If we get them (never want to look ahead), gotta get into half court game. They got athletes to run and gun. Slow it down and get it to Hunter down low.
Bonnies seem like a 12-13 seed to me. Yeah they can D, but 0 offense. Doesn’t even look like they got guys who can score consistently, but just not today. Maybe 1 dude, that’s it.
Just joining, but if nobody has not made this prediction yet....I am calling Eastern Washington Coach Shantay Legans as the coach who gets the biggest raise/job offers coming out of the tournament. His guys run Princeton sets and he clearly has not been able to get recruits there from outside of rural Washington.
Go EAGS! lol
Lets fucking goooooo!
Anyone want to come over and watch Big Trick Energy?
2! 3!
Brooks! Doin' the Zay thing.
Fuck that foul
Iona giving Bama some trouble right now... something to keep an eye on
Michigan fans: (beat a 16 seed by 16) FREAKING OUT
NCAA Tournament: (watch a 15, 13, and 2 12 seeds win) hold my zingerman's
Apparently Nate Oats doesn’t have to wear a mask, he’s had it down for about 5 minutes yelling.
