USC has fired Tim Drevno
January 1st, 2021 at 7:09 PM ^
Rough sport. Domino effect of fall guys.
January 1st, 2021 at 8:04 PM ^
Harbaugh can now hire Drevno when he becomes coach of the Lions, I heard some rumor from Detroit Sports Nation...
January 1st, 2021 at 7:10 PM ^
The only coordinators/assistants who left Michigan and did better are...Mattison and Fisch? Seems bad
January 1st, 2021 at 7:15 PM ^
And Mattison’s was a FU hire...
January 1st, 2021 at 7:23 PM ^
He got a promotion and a huge raise. Seems like a good business decision to me.
January 1st, 2021 at 7:30 PM ^
Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply the FU was on Mattison’s part. It was OSU saying FU.

Pep Hamilton is coaching Justin Herbert for the Chargers
January 1st, 2021 at 7:21 PM ^
Something tells me when Lynn goes, he'll have a bunch of guys going with him
January 1st, 2021 at 7:21 PM ^
Jim McElwaine is a head coach, Greg Jackson went on to coach the same position in the NFL, etc.
Almost all coaches get fired at some point.
January 1st, 2021 at 7:22 PM ^
It does seem bad, but it's also incorrect.
Durkin got a head coaching job but he killed a guy, which derailed his plans a bit. OSU seems to be pretty happy with Al Washington, Campanile has the same job in the NFL, Wheatley is an FCS head coach after working in the NFL for a bit, and Jim McElwain is a head coach.
January 1st, 2021 at 7:32 PM ^
Oddly enough since these guys left the O and D have declined...coincidence?
January 1st, 2021 at 7:48 PM ^
Not sure who you are thinking of, but by my count, 4 Michigan assistants have gone on to head coaching jobs (Durkin, McElwain, Fisch, Wheatley), 2 more were promoted to coordinator positions (Mattison, Partridge), and most of the rest have gone to the NFL or gotten lateral jobs at P5 programs.
January 1st, 2021 at 7:53 PM ^
DJ Durkin left to be a head coach, Greg Jackson went to the NFL, Brian Smith left to be a defensive coordinator, CP left to be a co-DC, Mattison left to be a co-DC, Washington went home, McElwain left to Central,
Pep was fired, Drevno was fired, Brown was fired
January 1st, 2021 at 8:47 PM ^
What exactly does "did better" mean? Wheatley is a HC, Partridge is a DC, Pep Hamilton is QB coach in the pro's, Campanile coaches LB's for the Dolphins.
January 1st, 2021 at 9:24 PM ^
Um... sure if you ignore all the other ones who left for promotions.

Need more ankle flexion
January 1st, 2021 at 7:16 PM ^
Dorsi or plantar?
January 1st, 2021 at 7:22 PM ^
Dorsi ?
January 1st, 2021 at 7:24 PM ^
He didn't pump enough water I guess.
January 1st, 2021 at 7:25 PM ^
Jim has a problem. He doesn't hire good assistants. They are on average below par recruiters and below par tacticians. Jim will be gone by week's end. The building of the football program will begin.
January 1st, 2021 at 7:29 PM ^
In the hypothetical that Harbaugh is gone, whoever walks in is going to have some seriously awesome pieces to get started: Cade and JJ, Corum/Edwards/Haskins, Bell/Corn John/Giles/Worthy/Sainristil, OLine talent galore. The defense at least has Hutchinson and several other young talented players.
January 1st, 2021 at 7:40 PM ^
I would be shocked if the defense is any better than meh for a couple years, too many holes.
Offense to me looks pretty good at QB and RB but a bunch of small receivers but no big targets like Nico or reliable enough like a Jeremy Gallon.
January 1st, 2021 at 7:55 PM ^
The problem is the offense is great until nobody can throw a forward pass and the running backs cant find any space. Shiny pieces dont do any good when it comes to shitty gameplan and bad coaching.
January 1st, 2021 at 8:10 PM ^
Agree. We need to replenish defensive talent. Hutch is a man. Put in the right position....he will be a force. Stay healthy and he is a first or second round pick.
January 1st, 2021 at 10:15 PM ^
Corn and John are the most promising. I had corn tonight. I’ll be at the John tomorrow. I’ll see corn again if I care to, which I don’t.
it is odd you’d include them though.
January 1st, 2021 at 7:29 PM ^
OMG. Is ND going to make the score look respectable?
[Wrong thread. Sorry.]
January 1st, 2021 at 7:35 PM ^
No. But better than last time they played Alabama.
January 1st, 2021 at 7:35 PM ^
Apparently no - but at least they make it it big games regularly.
January 1st, 2021 at 8:26 PM ^
Down 31-7 and scoring a TD with 1 minute left doesn't add much respectability.
January 1st, 2021 at 7:46 PM ^
Why are we so bad at hiring assistants? Why again are we extending JH?
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:16 AM ^
Because he is 9-0 against Rutgers and Maryland.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:31 AM ^
The true bar for measuring success at Michigan now unfortunately. Oh but pAy ThE pLaYeRz and cLaSsEs

He lost his ankle flexion?
