Who is your choice for 2020 UM Football comeback player of the year?
Haven't seen any threads covering this topic, but it seems that this year's team has some players at key positions that are coming back from a long absence from 2019. That being said, who do you think is Michigan's comeback player of the year for 2020?
A. Chris Evans- 3 year contributor at RB, should enjoy being in an offense that better suits his skillset getting him in space and (hopefully) seeing more targets out of the backfield.
B. Josh Ross- Looked prime to breakout last year before injury, seemed to be taking the Devin Bush Jr. route from special teams thumper in 2017/2018 into starting LB in 2019. Combined with McGrone has built a lot of hype around the LB group this season.
C. Andrew Stueber- Never seemed out of place when called upon as the 6th OL in 2018, battled with Mayfield for RT in 2019 before the ACL injury. Seems like he is shouted-out daily by Ed Warinner on Twitter.
D. Other- Luiji Vilain is another obvious choice as a guy who is still writing his comeback story. Maybe it is someone nobody is talking about like Quinten Johnson (loved his HS tape, but have not heard Don Brown mention him at all)

Jim Harbaugh

I like all of these suggestions. How about Nick Eubanks, who went from deep threat at the 2017 Florida game to short option and arc keeper blocker last year? I’d love to see some TE down the seam, paired with the very effective arc reads from last year.
HM: Nordin (speaking of that 2017 Florida game) and Hart (borderline All-American 2018).

Eubanks was great on the big play action deep crossers the Pepbaugh offense loved.
Would love to see him as a seam merchant, particularly if he can do it from the inline TE spot.

Another Joby that is a Michigan fan. Not a name you here every day. I actually work with another one (I believe he went to OSU though :( ) but my employer has 16k employees.

Hey, congrats on an excellent name! There’s a guy with my exact first and last name who is an OSU alum. We used to chat every now and again in mid-November when The Game was imminent.
Pleased to make your acquaintance, and Go Blue!

I'm gonna go with D. Other. He had a great offseason and I think he's primed for a big comeback year.

NICO
It's not to late to comeback!
October 9th, 2020 at 10:19 AM ^
I was really looking forward to watching Nico just dominate DBs this year. So bummed.

Vilain. Hopefully overcome the injuries that hampered him his first two years.
October 8th, 2020 at 4:43 PM ^
Would love to see ALL of the above absolutely KILL it this year!
Rooting for Vilain & Evans
FWIW - I read earlier on ESPN that Wisconsin starter Jack Coan just had foot surgery on Tuesday and is out indefinitely.

Here's an article for those interested.
New QB1, Graham Mertz:

No, that was Jack Can.
October 8th, 2020 at 4:49 PM ^
Might be more of a breakout scenario rather than a comeback, but I’ll go with Donovan Jeter.
October 8th, 2020 at 4:54 PM ^
Would love to see Evans go off even if a deep RB room makes that seem unlikely.
I like the young guys but Evans would have been the best back on the roster by some distance last year.

Josh Ross...has the best chance to make an impact with the amount of opportunities he is going to have.

Ben Mason.

Shea Patterson

NO!!! Shea needs to stay away. He can take his golf clubs and head to Carolina.
October 8th, 2020 at 5:10 PM ^
No arguments with your top 3. All great candidates to contribute significantly this year.
October 8th, 2020 at 5:13 PM ^
Chris Evans. He's been nothing but contrite and honest and worked his ass off to get back on the team.
October 8th, 2020 at 5:15 PM ^
Jim Brandstatter...
October 8th, 2020 at 5:29 PM ^
Jim needs to come back to color commentary. Love the guy but he is not good at play by play.

“And the pass is... .... CAUGHT! By ... .... Ronnie Bell .... ... and he’s down to the ... ... 25 yard line before he’s .... run out of bounds! Big play by Ronnie Bell!

I hope it’s Joe Milton. Although his opportunities were limited last year so maybe breakout player of the year would be more fair. He is the key to the season
Chris Evans would be a great story. So would Luiji.
October 8th, 2020 at 6:23 PM ^
I dont think Joe Milton can even be a "Comback player of the year". He hasnt really played yet
October 9th, 2020 at 1:00 AM ^
I don’t disagree. But his spot performance was frighteningly abysmal and he carries the torch for the season now.
I must have faith in the coaches. So for me he is it.
October 8th, 2020 at 5:26 PM ^
Given the pandemic, all of them.
October 8th, 2020 at 6:13 PM ^
Has to be Evans in space. Split him out, swing him out.. just get the ball to him and let him rip. My concern is our 1st year starting QB and potential growing pains to include accuracy issues.
October 8th, 2020 at 6:22 PM ^
Jalen Mayfield. Literally left and came back. Doesnt get more comeback than that

Governor kidnappers? Fecal areal plumes? Toys r us? Free coke with ticket purchase?
October 8th, 2020 at 7:11 PM ^
Give me a couple months to think about it.
October 8th, 2020 at 8:13 PM ^
To me comeback means you had to be there already... Chris Evans or Josh Ross for sure
to bad it’s not Charles Woodson coming back
October 8th, 2020 at 8:20 PM ^
Considering Vilain was ranked right near chase young when they came out of HS as defensive end recruits i hope he can really bust out of no-where.
October 8th, 2020 at 9:08 PM ^
I'm hoping for Chris Evans.
