I bring it up because it becomes not just a police brutality point,it becomes bigger fueled by media and social media. It becomes a white versus black thing that divides the country,it's not deflection this stuff is going on everyday in America and we never hear about in the mainstream media.I believe 100% that there is systemic racism in this country and needs to stop, but way way too often it turns into a public white versus black thing,it's already starting here in NC,I'am seeing in the workplace. It doesn't bother me if you wanna say I'am ignorant or a racist because it's just an easy thing for you or anybody else who thinks differently than me to say.Think outside the box,I can be against systemic racism and be against 'peaceful' protesters that are used as vessels by domestic terrorists.Hey but Go Blue!I'am not saying anything more on this.

Never called you racist.  I just don't understand your need to change the narrative or discussion.

We could say, yeah but atrocity ABC was worse and group XYZ experienced this genocide.  Why the need to deflect from this discussion? It feels disingenuous when during a crisis around race relations in the US, you bring up black on black crime.  What exactly is the purpose of the statement?  Because it doesn't seem like you truly want to examine the reasons for the horrors of urban violence in Chicago, but just want to create a distraction where you tangle issues wherein the victim is being retried as the culprit by changing the arena.

I want society to also talk about other evils going on in the country as well like black on black violence and the fact cops have shot  and killed 1,200 white Americans since 2017.I understand what you are saying and I may have come off wrong but that's all Iam trying to convey.

You're totally disingenuous.  You don't give a shit about black on black crime when it's happening all the time, only when mass protests over a cop murdering a black man in public threaten your worldview.  Then you trot out your feels and your "concern" over the black community and use it as an excuse to deflect from what's really going on.  Hey, next time you want to start a protest about cops systematically using unnecessary force against and brutalizing white people, I'll join your protest.  Better yet, maybe I'll join you in the protests that's already going on about cops not only using excessive force against black people and people of color, but also against mostly peaceful white protestors advocating for change and journalists.

Mr. Fifteen points,

Why do you think that it is acceptable or even remoetly polite to hijack a perfectly good post for your own purpose?

Why is this allowed?  It does ruin posts and discussion.

Sorry for my whining.

Because there are other things that can be said, you like everything to be one sided.Yeah it was a nice post, but there alot of things that are not nice that needs to be talked about as well but nobody is gonna start a thread talking about it.

Absolutely. I’m a hispanic guy with a black wife and mixed child in Illinois.   I’ve been to more funerals since I’ve been married in Chicago than I’ve ever been to.  In the last year, 18 of them, all gang related.  Seeing all those mothers cry has been the most heartbreaking thing.  The police are bad enough here, but this type of violence is just plain awful.  We need to address all these issues, but looting and rioting is just not solving anything.

Very cool gesture. Actions speak louder than words and he truly cares about the well-being of his players and african americans as a whole in this country.

Some things (most things) matter more than football. Happy to have Jim Harbaugh leading the program at Michigan for as long as he'd like to be here. I wish the general tenor of the fan base was more supportive towards him and less critical/negative.

The fact no one is calling rioters out for this is mind boggling. Literally hundreds of examples of looting and physical violence on innocent people yet almost no one acknowledges this. Goes to show you how people cannot put even look objectely at things.

Cops are dealing with extreme violence and being outnumbered 50 to 1 by rioters for something THEY DIDN'T DO! Doubting most here have ever been in a situation like that before in their lives or could handle it either.

Not one person is okay with what happened to George Floyd that's not even up for discussion but damaging innocent people's lives and business is nearly as bad. What happened to people can't even separate right from wrong anymore and be objective instead have to make it a political thing

But there ARE a lot of people calling out the rioters and looters. Who is not acknowledging this? Almost every public official has denounced it. In fact, there have even been plenty of incidents in which the marchers themselves stop someone from vandalizing a car or building. I saw one photo where protesters formed a human wall around a lone cop who had been separated from his team, so he wouldn't be seriously hurt or killed. The vast majority of people marching/protesting/demonstrating don't throw stuff at the cops and don't riot and don't destroy property.

I don’t think we should spend too much energy defending the protests of the looting charges. It could be one person out of thousands and the critics will still use it against the protests. Fact is, there are thousands of people protesting in tons of cities across the country. It’d take an impossible level of organization and discipline to make sure there weren’t “bad actors” involved when it came together so quickly. Especially when we know that the state is actively trying to infiltrate this movement. I’m just not going to bother holding random groups of people to a far higher standard than we have ever held the police.

Well calling out people for ruining people's business wich was plain to see in Philadelphia by more than 'one person',taking televisions and stereo's does alot against the problem of police brutality.I think you are minimizing the threat from theses protests.I live in Greensboro, NC now and saw what the peaceful protests have done to downtown,or in Raleigh when the peaceful protesters brought bats, clubs, and in some cases fire arms....It was more than just on out of a thousand. So yeah I'am critic as is millions of other Americans watching it unfold.

Never said it was good, but I’m not going to waste much breathe worrying about it. The police destroy shit all the time and nobody cares. Property can be replaced, lives can’t. And that’s what the protests are about. If you’re more worried about the looting than the shootings and police response to protests, you’re part of the problem. Hate to break it to you.

Will you go on boards and condemn the shooting of over 1,200 white Americans since 2017  as well?Does that fit your narrative.will that get it's own thread as well?I,am sure there is a few of those 1,200 that were unarmed as well.I'am sure there will be no 'peaceful' protests for them.I must be a racist for pointing this out.
