Tournament games are played on neutral sites.  The B1G tournament was played there.  I, like most guys who enjoy good basketball, want to see how their team will perform on a neutral site.  Home games are great and all, but the true measure of how a team will do in March is how they perform on neutral sites.  They should try to take advantage of that opportunity whenever possible.  People complain that the football team can’t win away from home.  Now, you have a basketball team, who is willing to play on the road at neutral sites, win the game and you guys still complain.

I’m right here and I still stand by what I said. Warde unnecessarily gave away a home conference game and stuck it right in Rutgers’ back yard. The fact that the team overcame that is great but irrelevant to the argument. He didn’t have to do it. What was there to gain? I’m guessing it also didn’t sit well with season ticket holders who essentially still paid for the tickets for a Rutgers home game and didn’t get to enjoy it.

If you want to give away a home game for a big OOC game at MSG, or a gimme against someone like Columbia, LIU, Binghampton, then fine. But giving away a conference home game when you don’t have to, especially to a team that starts playing really well and you make it stupid easy for that team and it’s fans to come in for the game and flood the arena, then you’re essentially giving a middle finger to all the students and season ticket holders who show up every night to watch these kids play.

If this team would play smart this game would have been at least a 15 point win. But I guess a win is a win. Won’t win many games playing like that. Giving up 25 offensive rebounds.

1) Best victory since they were in the Bahamas. Last 6-7 minutes were awful, but they beat a top-30 team on a “neutral” site just a few minutes from their opponent’s campus.

2) A winning streak and they now have some positive momentum. Nice!

3) Practice defensive rebounds and not turning it over. Don’t think I have ever seen so many OREBs on consecutive possessions like that.

4) Good free-throw shootings at the very end. All 1-and-1s and Simpson/Wagner went 6/6. The game could have ended very differently had they missed any of those.

5) Practice end-of-game scenarios. When you have the lead with the ball, a minute left, and a full shot clock, don’t take an early contested shot.

6) Need to bottle up this version of Johns and get it every game, esp. with Livers out. Back-to-back games of his career.

7) ESPN play-by-play was stupidly broken.

8) Beat OSU/MSU.

Shoutout to Juwan for not giving the whole "The RAC" Rutgers thing any respect. They can't talk about their court like it's fucking Assembly Hall, after doing absolutely nothing in the history of the B1G life.

Huge Win!

9-11 in the B1G plus one BTT win against a lower seed almost surely gets us in the Big Dance.  Not that that's our ceiling, but it's good not to get too far under the 9-11 pace.  To make it, we need to go .500 from here on out.

I am guilty of this, but need to remember this team plays basically all guys (excluding Teske/Z w/ Livers out) that are new. Very little experience. Hopefully we see guys making some strides like Johns, Wagner, and Brooks that will help us as we finish out the year.

Agreed to an extent.  Rebounding sometimes is effort.  You have it or you don't.  Franz getting pwnd by a rutgers player on a Dreb in December, fine.  Still happening?! Not good.  Franz having weak ass wrists and coughing up the ball frequently, still...not a good sign.  Not to pile on Franz, he is new and young.  Missing bunny layups (many guilty parties).  Teske chunking up shitty, contested hook shots. There's just stuff that shouldn't be happening that still is, it's frustrating.

May not seem it but I AM happy about this W.  There ARE good signs about going forward, also!

As we all know, Austin Davis has his limitations.  But damn, I've enjoyed watching him put it all together this year as a valuable backup player.

Say what you will about him, but I bet more than a few opposing players had to be a bit battered and bruised after facing him on the court this season.

On the train home from the game, took the whole fam

im so glad our AD scheduled this game . Great , tournament like atmosphere.  Msg was prob 80+% full.  Granted , 2/3 Rutgers but still a good M crowd.  This was the first time seeing them out here it felt like an away game - Rutgers had lots of students show up and their average jersey shore fan was prob 50pct louder than ours.  But great atmosphere for both sides.

we had some beautiful ball movement possessions - far and away superior team in that respect.  They got seemingly all loose balls and hustle plays to keep it closer than skill alone would have dictated.  RU hoists ugly shots

curious if others who attended noticed this — virtually 100pct of all the camera shots / video vignettes / audio tributes / clips of players talking about movies etc during the game were for Michigan.  Like 1/100 clips was for RU.  It was striking, even my young kids commented that the camera and production guys must have went to Michigan.  Their fans felt the disrespekt and lustily boo’d all big screen images of cheering M fans, even cute little tots .  It was great

I guess that was a benefit we got because it was a "home" game.

I've never seen a crowd get so triggered by the harmless things playing on the overhead. Rutgers brings a weird crowd.

Anyhow the MSG staff wasn't being uptight today so even though I bought cheap seats I spent the 2nd half just a few rows away from our bench. I commend the ushers.
