Year one, 6-10 record with a loss to the Bengals to close the season.
On my phone so I apologize if the formatting sucks.

*Apologies, it's Freddie with an 'ie' instead of a y.
Commence the clamoring for Urban Meyer and then Bob Stoops (obviously Baker's old coach and a Youngstown native).
December 29th, 2019 at 8:12 PM ^
Urban is going to coach the LoLboys
December 29th, 2019 at 8:19 PM ^
Urban will be announced as new president and GM of the Deadskins later this week.
I have no idea who will take over in Cleveland, but Dorsey will have plenty of good options if he waits a couple weeks.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:23 PM ^
Jason Garrett
December 29th, 2019 at 8:24 PM ^
Garrett to the Giants is the rumor.
December 30th, 2019 at 2:27 PM ^
How about Ryan Day?
December 29th, 2019 at 8:38 PM ^
Sounds like the Redskins are leaning toward Ron Rivera.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:44 PM ^
Rivera or Marvin Lewis to the Skins. I still think Urban ends up with the Cowboys. I could see the Browns throwing a ton of Cash at Lincoln R. He is never winning a National Title at OU so why not reunite with Baker and see if you can get lighting in a bottle.
December 30th, 2019 at 8:53 AM ^
I have a hard time seeing Urban go to the Cowboys. Despite the fact that its probably the most talented roster out of likely vacancies, and the one that is built to win now in a disaster of a division, you still have to deal with Jerry Jones.
Should Urban take another job, whether its NFL or college, he's going to want to run things his way (rightfully so) and not have to answer to anyone about how to coach his team. Jerry Jones doesn't seem to grant that kind of leniency. Jones thinks he's the smartest guy in every room he walks into, and I could see him butting heads with Urbz on a pretty regular basis. Especially if things go sideways and the team starts losing a few games. Hell, even if the team is winning, I have a really hard time seeing Jerry Jones fully back off 100% for telling his coaches how to run their team. Two type-A personalities together like that is usually a recipe for disaster.
If he goes anywhere, I'd say its probably the Browns. A team that has plenty of talent (just needs direction and strong leadership at the top), and he gets to save face with all the Buckeye fans for ditching them. At least he can tell them he's still coaching in Ohio.
December 30th, 2019 at 1:07 PM ^
It would be quite an adjustment coaching with a salary cap.
December 30th, 2019 at 2:12 PM ^
That's another thing, too. The massive talent advantage Meyer had in nearly every game he coached is effectively neutralized in the NFL. Everyone has talent, your 4.4 receivers are countered by their 4.4 corners, and literally anyone can beat anyone on any given Sunday. We saw it yesterday with the Dolphins going up to Foxboro and beating Brady. All your national championships and recruiting prowress won't even buy you a cup of coffee in the league. You can't really pick and choose your own players anymore. Not in the same way as college, anyway.
We'd definitely find out just how good Meyer is at in-game coaching if he went to the league. He may be just as good, if not better. I don't know. But I think its just as likely, if not moreso, that he fails.
December 30th, 2019 at 3:45 PM ^
I dont like Urban Meyer a ton but he was great at Bowling Green and Utah where he didnt really have a huge talent advantage.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:46 PM ^
Ryan Day! Why not? His teams performance against Clemson is the most Browns thing ever.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:55 PM ^
I would be on board with this
December 29th, 2019 at 9:32 PM ^
I could see it happening but not this year. Dont worry though I'm sure the job will open up again in 1-3 years.
December 30th, 2019 at 9:22 AM ^
If Day goes to the Browns, Meyer will just go back to OSU.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:22 PM ^
Good. Never liked promoting him to begin with
December 29th, 2019 at 8:27 PM ^
The Browns fire their coach, the earth circles the sun, osu beats Michigan. These are yearly occurrences.
December 29th, 2019 at 10:59 PM ^
And Clemson beats osu in a bowl every leap year.
December 29th, 2019 at 11:00 PM ^
Meanwhile, the Steelers replace head coaches as often as Halley's Comet passes by.
December 30th, 2019 at 2:53 AM ^
Tell me about it. They have had 4 coaches in my lifetime.
December 30th, 2019 at 1:38 PM ^
OK, Boomer.
Just kidding, you're just a little too young to be a boomer, because you must have been born in the Bill Austin era ('66-'68) with Chuck Noll being hired in '69. I believe boomers technically cut off at '64.
December 30th, 2019 at 11:31 AM ^
It's sad when "the earth circles the sun" is the most debatable of those things.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:42 PM ^
Yet Patricia will be back
December 29th, 2019 at 8:44 PM ^
On a similar note...Josh McDaniels is an Ohio native. I bet his name gets mentioned a lot for the Browns job.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:45 PM ^
He won't go there and neither will JG after the Cowboys fire him.
December 30th, 2019 at 8:59 AM ^
Inside info or your opinion?
Because I woke up this morning and the Browns have already requested an interview with McDaniels after the Pats get knocked out of the playoffs.
Why are you so confident?
December 30th, 2019 at 1:36 PM ^
Knocked out of the playoffs?
I think you mean after they win the super bowl.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:49 PM ^
The Lions would have signed Patricia to a 5 year extension if he’d pulled off a 6-10 season.
December 29th, 2019 at 9:09 PM ^
Lions will go after Kitchens next season but first the Lions will draft a CB with the 3rd pick.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:47 PM ^
Browns just being the Browns, one winning season in 20+ years .They are going to lose Odell ,Hunt and Njoko and all of the sudden this "talented" team will be a less than avg team "talent wise"
Going into this draft the Browns biggest needs will be Safety,TE and WR
Browns next coach Mike McCarthy
December 29th, 2019 at 9:15 PM ^
Not going to "lose" OBJ-he's under contract for three more years.
Hunt is a restricted FA and they're prolly going to out a 2nd round tender on him so he'll stay
Nojoko was in Freddie's doghouse (as was Higgins and Randal) so now that Freddie's gone their status is definitely up in the air
Agree on McCarthy though. Need to get a grown up in the room
December 29th, 2019 at 10:05 PM ^
why is mgrowold getting neg'd for this comment? seems like additional, seemingly factual and insightful commentary.
December 29th, 2019 at 10:31 PM ^
Because the degree to which he talks about Cleveland sports is very annoying.
December 29th, 2019 at 10:48 PM ^
December 30th, 2019 at 3:04 AM ^
So is your fraud ass.
December 30th, 2019 at 7:15 AM ^
December 30th, 2019 at 1:06 AM ^
Heaven forbid a Cleveland pro sports fan talk about a Cleveland team in a thread about that Cleveland team firing its coach.
December 30th, 2019 at 4:46 AM ^
Yeah what was I thinking posting factual information inside a post created by someone else about a team i follow.
I can certainly see why the guy whose been here about five minutes (under this user name) would be annoyed.
Totally understandable.
December 30th, 2019 at 9:49 AM ^
good thing he's here to keep newbies like you in line. he certainly changed my mind with his well-reasoned and entirely factual response.
December 30th, 2019 at 8:57 AM ^
This thread, which MGrowOld did not start, is about Cleveland sports. If you are not interested, why are you here?
December 30th, 2019 at 1:16 PM ^
Yeah, if you can't stand the MGOBLOG heat--stay out of the Kitchens!......
December 30th, 2019 at 1:15 AM ^
Hunt is non a tendered restricted Free Agent (a tendered free agent would mean a 1st or 2nd round pick if he leaves) He is a NON tendered Free Agent (the Browns can match any offer from another team,to keep Hunt..but will recv ZERO compensation if they dont re-sign him) He made this 100% of his contract,he wanted a 1 year "try out" with a team, and he wants to be the feature back and you can believe a team will give him a huge contract (Pittsburgh,Miami,Tampa Bay etc etc)

OBJ has basically asked to be out
NFL.com Dec 21 Glazer says Beckham has approached opposing players and coaches before (and even during) games this season and has told them, “come get me.” "i didnt ask to be here" And considering that Glazer was the one who said the Giants would trade Beckham when everyone within the New York organization was saying they wouldn’t, that carries some weight. Glazer said, “I don’t see that relationship ending well for [the Browns] after this year.”" He will be suiting up somewhere else next season.maybe New England"
Of course, trading Beckham would be a tough pill to swallow for the Browns, who gave up first- and third-round picks in the 2019 draft along with Jabrill Peppers and Kevin Zeitler to acquire the star receiver and Olivier Vernon. The fact that Beckham has had a disappointing year (by his standards, at least) and would have basically forced his way out of two organizations would obviously hurt his trade value.
David Njoku has been a healthy scratch 5 times in his short career.
Cleveland heads into 2020 with the highest cap hit in the NFL (based on current contracts) they HAVE TO MAKE MOVES and id bet anything 2 of these 3 guys plus a couple others will be somewhere else before the NFL draft, you can bank this

I'll take McCarthy too, or I'll take a shot on McDaniels, but no more first time coaches. There are too many assholes in this locker room, they need somebody to get them in line.
Kitchens is the worst head football coach I have ever seen at any level. The job literally swallowed him. This was week in and week out the most undisciplined, unprepared, worst coached team I have ever seen. In this town, that is a strong statement. The fact that they won 6 games is a fucking miracle.
December 30th, 2019 at 12:27 PM ^
Also agree on McCarthy. It seems so obvious that the Browns will of course do something else - like hire another dude with no head coaching experience.
Disagree on the needs. Number one need by far is o-line. Get the team a coach that can cut out all the penalties and other BS and upgrade the line to a top ten unit and they should be in the playoffs.

I feel bad that the Browns in the sense that this season held a lot of promise to start, but good lord were their fans beating their chests to start the year based mostly on a stretch of mostly-meaningless games to end last year and a couple of FA signings.
Also, elevating the guy your maybe-overrated QB wanted because he didn't like the previous guy is usually not a good recipe for success.
