Hoe much do you trust Don Brown?
Don Brown was the main reason Michigan lost The Game, B1G division and a CFP spot last year. The offense came to play and scored enough to win. The #1 defense up to that point was an utter mess.
OSU gained 8.46 yards per play. Twice what the UM defense gave up in the other games. It was also the highest ypp OSU put up all last year. Just above the offensive beat down a horrible 2-win Oregon State team in their first game. The OSU offense was good, but not that good.
The Michigan defense was COMPLETELY CONFUSED and SURPRISED. Michigan had a solid defense with lots of NFL talent, but they were absolutely unprepared for the OSU attack. No idea what to expect or how to respond. That is all about coaching. It was crazy. They looked worse than Rutgers.
In response, Don Brown has revised his defensive strategy. He again has a very good defense with lots of talent. He has been "up nights" thinking about The Game.
Does it work? Can Michigan hold them under 20 points?
Remember: In 2017 PSU torched his defense in Happy Valley. They put up over 500 yards and nearly 50 points. Brown had a similar "up at night" reaction and the next year his defense held PSU to 182 yards in Ann Arbor. Was that Brown (or the loss of Barkley by PSU)?

I don’t trust any hoe.

I don't want to get in the weeds here, but last year we reaped what he sowed re: press man coverage. I trust Brown to have learned his lesson and plow the field of any solutions to OSU's offense. We could use a bumper crop; otherwise we'll have to dig deep to have any hope of a bountiful harvest.

I bet you're a "fire Harbaugh" guy too.
November 27th, 2019 at 12:52 PM ^
Do you like wins or losses?
*I really don't give a damn what last name the head coach has, as long as he's successful, and at Michigan... that means BEAT OHIO STATE!
*If you don't understand the above bullet point... you AREN'T a Michigan fan; be quick, the bandwagon is leaving without you!

To put it in Godfatherian terms, OSU '18 was the murder of Santino "Sonny" Corleone.
Don Brown has to answer for Santino. He can do that Saturday. And that's the only way.

Not a hoe lot
November 27th, 2019 at 11:56 AM ^
Not much honestly. We've heard all the talk before. We've seen elite defenses of his come into this game and get shredded. I hope he's figured it out, but I'm willing to bet that Ryan Day has counter-moves that are gonna beat whatever Don Brown has.
November 27th, 2019 at 12:20 PM ^
Your mom beats.
November 27th, 2019 at 12:26 PM ^
I'd like to point out that that 2015 wasn't Don Brown. Brown's defense has mostly shut down OSU twice and was nuked into oblivion once. In 2016 they gave up 280 yards and 14 points in regulation on drives of 13 and 77 yards. In 2017 they gave up 350 yards to the #3 SP+ offense. It should also be noted that 66 of those yards came after O'Korn sealed the game with an interception.

This board SUCKS. Sure, I make typos, but let me at least FIX them!!!

You can fix your name. It’s spelled Petr.

Don Brown was not the reason we lost The Game last year. Suck my dick from the back, cornball.
November 27th, 2019 at 12:07 PM ^
He was the main reason. No question.
The defensive prep work and lack of effective adjustments were the culprit.
Others made mistakes, but his were the worst. His players didn't know what to do. Watch the replay. They were lost out there. That is coaching.
November 27th, 2019 at 12:36 PM ^
You, sir, are an idiot.
November 27th, 2019 at 12:39 PM ^
Can't argue with the facts, can you?
November 27th, 2019 at 12:47 PM ^
I did not see players looking lost last year.
Instead, I saw players athletically overmatched and deliberately misdirected by an excellent offense.
Important distinctions are not your strong point, as you've demonstrated ad nauseum.
November 27th, 2019 at 1:08 PM ^
Spicoli's (Tobbagan's) alternate account... thanks for letting me know.
Let me get this straight Monacle Smile (Spicoli/Tobbagan)... there was NO WAY ANY TEAM could ever hope to stop OSU's offense last year! Gotcha
November 27th, 2019 at 3:08 PM ^
You can't spell my username when it's in front of your fucking face, you can't tell whether two people are the same person, and you're full of bad, awful takes. Begone.
November 27th, 2019 at 1:32 PM ^
Watch the game again.
You saw an "athletically overmatched" defense? You mean the defense full of NFL talent that dominated other teams. Sure, OSU had athletic talent, but it did not "overmatch" Michigan to the point of 60 plus points and 8.5 yards per play. Talent gap was not the difference.
You say you saw an offense "deliberately misdirect" the defense? Well, sounds like you are saying that the defense was not prepared for that. Offenses typically misdirect and that is what you plan for.
So, watch the tape. The players didn't know what to do. Isn't that on the coach?
November 27th, 2019 at 5:50 PM ^
Exactly, speed kills, and that absolutely did us in last year.
November 27th, 2019 at 12:53 PM ^
What fact? That your opinion was that they looked lost? Nope, he can't argue that.
Wtf is this post? What B1G DC would you rather have? What about...oh IDK, the 3248032937448 other games where Michigan's defense has been excellent under DB? What about his FIRST TWO GAMES vs these very Buckeyes?
You're absolutely the kind of M fan I cannot stand -- and you're out here saying the board sucks. Yeah your typo got attacked but that was because no one cared for the rest of your post. And while we're on it, you spelled Petr wrong.
November 27th, 2019 at 1:33 PM ^
Since Petr capitalized COMPLETELY CONFUSED and SURPRISED, it must be fact.
November 27th, 2019 at 1:35 PM ^
Personal attacks? I never said I wanted him gone. I asked how much you trusted him this Saturday. He is not above reproach.
November 27th, 2019 at 1:07 PM ^
Some people are both so wrong and so insignificant that engaging in substantive debate with them would add nothing to the world and only serve to legitimize their unintelligent opinion.

November 27th, 2019 at 1:43 PM ^
LOL, wow, you truly are dull...
1. I posted a 247 article that explicitly stated the two sides had been in contact.
2. I posted it with the express purpose of starting "Franklin is leaving Penn State" rumors, as Franklin is the main source of Harbaugh disinformation and negative recruiting against us
...but go off.
November 27th, 2019 at 4:08 PM ^
The defense giving up 62 points wasn’t the reason we lost last year?
Are you retarded?
November 28th, 2019 at 8:04 AM ^
Surely you’re not so dumb as to think that was my point. Does Don Brown play all 11 positions on the field?
And the defense gave up 55, at least get the numbers right before you bring your dumb shit over here.
November 27th, 2019 at 12:03 PM ^
Honestly? After last year I don't. I know we had weaknesses on D that they exploited, but giving up that many points should never happen.
He's a good coach and I hope he redeems himself on Saturday. Because if he does, we win. By a lot.
Edit: Benedict Mattison gets at least half of blame. It was his DL getting pushed around.
November 27th, 2019 at 1:30 PM ^
Thank you for the rational take sir.
November 27th, 2019 at 1:31 PM ^
The immediate coach turncoats smells so badly to me... how is it possible that they were not already planning to go to OSU?
I mean... did they turn in a performance like that, and immediately OSU says, "THOSE are guys that we want to coach OUR defense!"?
But the alternative is that they already intended to leave before they put that faeces on the field.
Now I'm pissed off all over again.
I hate this thread almost as much as I hate OSU.
November 27th, 2019 at 12:05 PM ^
Bit of revisionist history re: the offense. The game was 19-24 at the half, mainly due to a muffed punt by OSU. Then in the 3rd quarter Michigan went 3-and-out, had a punt blocked for a TD, threw an INT, and it was 19-41.
November 27th, 2019 at 12:11 PM ^
What is revisionist about it?
The offense had 19 points at half. That is pretty good. They also scored 20 more points in the second half. Did they do enough to win the Game? Yes.
