A quick look at next year
I can feel the hate already but your negs can’t hurt me. Plus it’s a bye week and we’ve all complained about Army enough. Yes, I know we can’t even predict this year, let alone next, but this is just a quick look at the potential personnel.
Qb: McCaffrey. Question will be if Milton sticks around if he doesn’t win the job. Might be a little thin if he doesn’t.
RB: should be strong with ZC and Turner
WRs: Will be heavily influenced by the draft, but we should be ok either way. I have a hard time believing all three of DPJ, Collins and Black will enter. I’ll say Black sticks around with Bell and C Johnson, plus the slots Sainristil and Giles Jackson. Maybe next year with more slot type guys playing bigger roles we will see Gattis’ vision a little more.
TEs: Think we get Eubanks back along with Muhammed and All.
OL: A bit of a mystery right now but it’s a long way off and guys will emerge. Will likely lose 4 starters if Ruiz enters. Mayfield and Hayes look like the tackles of the future (and currently present). Interior is an unknown right now. Maybe Steuber can play guard?
DL: Should be a strong group with Hutch, Paye, Dwumfour and the young guys Hinton and Smith.
LBs: Ross, Anthony, McGrone, Uche
Secondary: Losing Lavert is big. Ambry, Vincent Gray, DJ Turner, Hawkins, Dax Hill, Woods. Confident Zordich can find some dudes.
Special teams: Will have Hart and Moody back.

2020
Made you look... quickly

Did you say 2020?
September 11th, 2019 at 1:18 PM ^
No one should read this and the OP should quit life.
September 11th, 2019 at 1:19 PM ^
Damn!
September 11th, 2019 at 1:19 PM ^
So this is just a depth chart for next year? I mean how do you feel about said depth chart if youre gonna add some depth to your chart?
I personally feel somewhere between BPONE and why am i looking at next year.
September 11th, 2019 at 1:22 PM ^
It’s not really a depth chart because that’s impossible to predict, just a look at contributing guys that we will have returning next year.
I knew a lot of people would hate the topic but sometimes it’s useful to see what you have coming back.

I don't know that we can say too much about next year at this point in the season. Young guys will develop throughout this season, which will greatly change our 2020 expectations.
September 11th, 2019 at 1:22 PM ^
So will the TE depth with Muhammad All be the greatest of all time?
September 11th, 2019 at 1:27 PM ^
Don't know about you, but I don't think having a dead guy on the TE depth chart bodes well for us.
September 11th, 2019 at 2:09 PM ^
Maybe/maybe not but Schoonmaker might be better than both of them.
I see the 2020 team being at least as good as this year's.
September 11th, 2019 at 1:23 PM ^
Next up...TK's "way too soon" 2020 Top 25 preview.
September 11th, 2019 at 1:51 PM ^
That doesn't interest me, but 2026 bracketology does.
September 11th, 2019 at 1:25 PM ^
The talking head narrative for the 2020 team will that UM will take a step back because of all the guys lost on offense. The QB, 3 or 4 O lineman, 1 or 2 starting WR's, and a TE will be gone.
So that is why if UM blows it in 2019 it will be all that more depressing.
September 11th, 2019 at 2:27 PM ^
We will find an excuse... trust me, that's become the M way.
September 11th, 2019 at 1:27 PM ^
This season just started. Looking ahead to next season seems weird.
September 11th, 2019 at 1:40 PM ^
I'm with you. This is silly right now.
September 11th, 2019 at 3:18 PM ^
Fling some poo at the OP for this thread, he'll understand.
September 11th, 2019 at 1:29 PM ^
We play at Washington, at MSU, at OSU, get Wisconsin and PSU at home. We also play at Minnesota and get Purdue at home. That's a tricky schedule.

September 11th, 2019 at 1:38 PM ^
did anyone else think Muhammad Ali when they were reading the TE's?
When we go undefeated and win the NC, all the upper classmen will declare for the draft and be picked in the 1st and 2nd round.
September 11th, 2019 at 1:42 PM ^
The OP assumes a lot of third year guys will be back. The Transfer Portal will steal a couple of more we weren't expecting. College football has become a year to year enterprise, and you can't reliably look ahead even 12 months anymore. Look at OSU, they had 3rd year guy Haskins and Tathan. 12 months later, they are running out the former Georgia recruit. The players can move to a place that gives them a better opportunity and they absolutely should. But, can you imagine Tom Brady transferring to Cal for his graduate year? We know Woodson was on his way out. Florida State, I think? The point is, we can't predict what rosters are going to look like year to year anymore.
September 11th, 2019 at 4:30 PM ^
The NCAA has hinted that they are tightening up on transfer approvals (graduate transfers withstanding). I think we’ve moved past the free agency we saw this past offseason.
September 11th, 2019 at 1:43 PM ^
And this was just off of the top of his capacious head!

Quick look at next year
-Michigan fan since 2005
If we end up losing 3-4 games this season there may not be a next year for this staff. Not saying harbaugh will be fired but if he starts feeling the heat he might just head back to the Nfl. Scary thought so let’s just stay focused on 2019.
September 11th, 2019 at 1:51 PM ^
uh.......khakis?
September 11th, 2019 at 2:05 PM ^
I dunno about you guys but I’ve got a full plate with 2019 BPONE
September 11th, 2019 at 2:17 PM ^
That 2020 personnel.... doesn't look that bad to me actually. I like the potential.
September 11th, 2019 at 2:19 PM ^
Uche's gone to the draft for sure
September 11th, 2019 at 2:31 PM ^
I need some TK WU

here's a much more robust and in-depth look at next year:

Excited for the Muhammad-All TE pairing. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.
September 12th, 2019 at 12:38 PM ^
And we thought we were thin at offensive line THIS year...
September 12th, 2019 at 11:12 PM ^
Could you give us a prediction on attendance for next years home games as well, with a breakdown of each game. That'd be interesting too.
September 15th, 2019 at 10:51 AM ^
Two or Three years ago, I said year six of Harbaugh would be the year. I don't remember how I justified this take, though.
But when next year is a huge year, just remember I called it!
(fwiw, I think this year is going to finish really strong, even if we have a rough start...we have good coaching and a lot of depth, finally.)
