Great half for Michigan basketball.  Minny has good rebounders but Michigan defense was relentless and that was a great way to end the half by Z fast break drive.

Wow, what a great half of basketball!

John Beilein is simply a master at preparing his team for tournament ball.

Go Blue!!!!

Another superb first half. After the game was tied at 13-13 with 10:54 left, Michigan went on a 25-6 run to close the half. Excellent defense and good offense (along with getting some helpful bounces).

This team is really dangerous. Balanced as hell, smart as hell.  They can bang, they protect the ball, and Simpson is a fabulous leader.

I love this team, and this season has been a blast. Let's finish the job this year, boys!

Zavier....wow. He is so unbelievable. Just so in control with the ball in his bands. To know we’ve got him for another year is just awesome.

Win today, and a two seed should be virtually locked up.

Solid half on both ends. Like how everyone is playing. Matthews a bit sluggish on O, but did some time. His value on D and rebounding though key to this team. All I gotta say, officials call a game where they don’t get whistle happy, this is a tough team to beat. Teske and Z the key pieces, both back next year which is great.

Just like the first half of our last game against Iowa. REFS LETTING THEM PLAY. Calling a good, even game. Even though one of the refs is Terry Wymer, who ref'd the National Championship game last year against Villanova and called a bunch of ticky-tack fouls against UM at the end of the first half when Michigan was leading. Momentum changed after that.

Beilein has a little history with Wymer too (see below). Hopefully the game continues to be ref'd well in the second half.

"Following the Wolverines’ 80-75 win in East Lansing, U-M coach John Beilein was asked about an incident occurring with just over four minutes left in the game. Trailing 60-58, tempers flared between Beilein and referee Terry Wymer. The screaming match turned Michigan sophomore Nik Stauskas from a shooter into a bouncer. “Yeah, that was a good assist by him,” Beilein said of Stauskas in the postgame press conference. “He was a little rough with me, too. I was in control, though, believe it or not.” Stauskas, made sure of it. Beilein was incensed over a no-call on Caris LeVert's drive to the basket with 4:45 remaining and the game tied at 58. LeVert beat MSU guard Keith Appling off a Jon Horford screen from the wing, arced around to the top of the key and drove down the right side of the lane.

With a clear path to the goal, LeVert went up for the layup, but not before Appling caught him from behind, got his hands in on the attempt and knocked the ball out. Wymer watched on from the baseline. One possession later, after MSU took a 60-58 lead with 4:19 left, Michigan returned to offense and drew a foul. The moment official Bo Boroski blew his whistle, Beilein wheeled toward Wymer. Beilein hasn’t delved into what the heated exchange consisted of, other than loud noises, but it escalated quickly. With the two so close they were sharing breaths, Stauskas slid in-between, grabbed Beilein’s shoulders and pushed him back to the sideline as assistant coach Bacari Alexander stepped in front of Wymer. “John Beilein is the angriest that I have ever seen him,” ESPN play-by-play man Dan Shulman said. “You don’t want a (technical foul) here,” commentator Dick Vitale chimed in. Standing in front of Beilein, Stauskas pleaded with him to back down and not draw a technical."

Gotta keep the aggression going for the first 4 minutes of the second half and they will really start to wilt if they haven't cut into the lead.
